The B&B is set in a beautiful location in the middle of a reconverted estate dating back to 1836, on the doorstep of the picturesque and tranquil setting of the River Mague. The River is great for salmon and trout fishing, and visitors are welcome to fish during their stay. The area is full of history and character, guests are sure to enjoy the views, the river and the area. Everyone will be made welcome at the House. We are always delighted to see new faces as well as old friends!

let me start off by saying this is not the most modern place my sister and i stayed at on our trip to Ireland but it was the best regardless. The location is gorgeous with the river and country side right in the back yard. Eddie is one of if not the most interesting/genuine people we met on our 2 week trip. His stories during our breakfasts were incredible. highly recommend staying here if you're in the area for a night or two.

I stayed at Catherass House with my extended family the evening of a family wedding, and the time spent there was possibly the highlight of the holiday. Eddie, the propietor is a true character, and his hospitality has to be experienced to be believed. If you stay at Catherass House you will laugh until you cry, you will marvel at the natural beauty offered by this picturesque river side setting, and you will drink endless cups of tea. Not to be missed!

This Business has been ( officially) closed for quite a while. The Owner Eddie O'brien is a lovely gentleman but has had to cease trading for a while.
However, it's fair to point out that will occasionally have 1 or 2 guests / friends stay with him to facilitate their being able to take an overnight stay before going to work.

I stayed in this guesthouse recently by chance, when my car broke down and the proprietor was so friendly, warm welcoming person that I felt at home straight away. I had en suit room with balcony overlooking the river. The place is really beautiful with plenty wildlife both on land and river-cattle, rabbits, birds, fish. Looking forward to come again with my family for a break, the kids would enjoy the farm and my husband loves fishing.

We visited to Eddie and his spectacular b&b in september,24. We came from Spain...We visit 5 b&b in Ireland and this one was the very very best. Eddie is fantastic, very kindly and closer to us. With a lot of energy and very humorist....And the bedroom, the garden near the river...incredible..thank you very much, Eddie..

It's hard to know where to start. Eddie is an absolute gem of a gentleman. What a character. This has to be one of the best B&B experiences I have ever had. His warm welcoming genuine nature oozes from him with a twinkle in his eye. He greets you with fresh baked scones and tea and he is utterly fascinating. We spent hours chatting to him and stayed on longer just to spend time with him. The beds were so comfortable and Eddie couldn't do enough for us. The view breathtaking and the breakfast was superb, and as I suspect did most guests before us, we ended up eating around his kichen table with him like we were old friends. Staying in Caherass House is a unique experience and I'd even go as far as saying the highlight of many people's holidays. He certainly was for us. Superb beyond words.

car broke down on the way to mannix point camping, recovery vehicle got us a nites b&b with eddie at caherass house. oh wow, eddie is a one in a million character with a wealth of stories to tell, a heart of gold and always willing and eager to help, to drive you anywhere and give you full use of anything you need. we stayed in the upstairs room with the balcony looking out over the back garden and the river, if you want a place run by a man who understands a homley, quiet, restfull b&b then you have come to the right place, you do need a car-we didn't have ours but eddie helped us out as much as he could. we had to stay a second day in croom and as it turned out eddie could keep us, but knew another b&b if he couldn't. his breakfasts are legend, my husband had the full fry the first morning and omg it was some breakfast, he decided just to have a boiled egg the next morning so eddie gave him 3 !!! . even when we got to mannix point to camp (2days late), people working there and camping there knew eddie and his b&b. we hope to be back again to see him, he is truly one in a million xx
