We spent about an hour walking around the gardens here. The gardens were very nicely maintained and had a nice variety of flowers and native bush to look at. The lily ponds in particular were very scenic. I can see why many people do weddings here. It's worth a visit for anyone looking for something to do in the afternoon... More

We stopped here on our way from Auckland to Cooks Beach, a bit of a detour but it was worth it. The gardens take about an hour to walk around at a relaxing pace, unfortunately due to the lack of rain the waterfall wasn't up to much but it was a lovely tranquil spot. Lunch was delicious and the staff/owner... More

My wife and I stayed here early January and fell in love with the tranquillity of the gardens. They are spectacular and well cared for. The most amazing highlight for us was that after 5pm the gardens were closed to the public and we had the whole place to ourselves. Stunning waterfalls, serene water Lilly pond, and glow worms to... The bush walk up to the water fall was an incredible nature buzz, after the gorgeous pink, cerese and white water lilies. But the very best part of all, was the stunning water fall, a special treat at the top of the 15 minute bush walk. I just wanted to stay there forever and take in the magic and spirituality... More

We stayed here for three nights in early November....early spring and still a bit chilly. This is a great place to decompress after travelling to New Zealand on a long haul flight. There is no TV or internet. Sally and her son Sasha were most welcoming and provided a lovely breakfast including fresh eggs. The gardens were well kept and... More

We visited in October last year and then took our elderly parents in July this year. The Coromandel Coast was a spectacular drive and once inland towards Rapaura Water Gardens the dramatic landscape and mountain road was a lovely driving adventure. The history of the property is fascinating, the water gardens are just beautiful and our hostess charming and helpful... More

I was expecting to have a walk through well maintained gardens. I was disappointed. The gardens are not as maintained as expected. The place is not family friend (young children in a stroller/pram). The pond did not even have any water lilies. Don't know if were went the wrong time of year or what? The most exciting part of the... More

We had visited the Water Gardens on a previous trip, noted there was accommodation available and decided to stop off on this trip for three nights. So glad we did as it was a highlight of our stay in NZ. Not only is the Cottage situated in an Award winning garden, but to us it was an award-winner in itself.... More

We had a 3 day stay in early February. A lovely quiet place in native bush. The cottage is equipped to a very high standard, and is very spacious. Sally and her son were not intrusive but regularly checked to make sure we had everything we needed. They provided eggs, cereals, bread, marmalade for our arrival. On 1 night they... More

This is our second stay in over a year in this dreamy retreat. Clean and beautifully furnitured and decorated from the proprietor's collections, we really didn't want to leave for our daily excursions! Gardens are peaceful and enjoying a cup of tea surrounded by a panorama of trees was my favourite ritual throughout the stay. Other members of the family... More
