Nice to be home after a lovely few days away following in the footsteps of Hadrian and his army through the wilds of Northumberland, trying to spot the remains of Hadrian's wall in the landscape as we drove through the amazing rugged countryside dotted with the largest farms that I have seen mostly built out of the stone nicked from...

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Cheviot. We were at a wedding in Otterburn which is only a short drive away. Our room was in the Post house which was lovely. It had recently been refurbished to a high standard! We didn't have an evening meal but the one we saw looked delicious! Our breakfast...

I have to say this was the best value weekend we have had this winter. The quality price balance was fantastic. The quality of the room, the quality of the food (and the quantity, big portions!) the ambiance of the pub and the friendliness of the owners were all 1st class. The attention to detail here is wonderful. If you're...

Nice newly decorated room which was very comfortbable. Excellent food and drink and superb customer service. We will stay there again. A wonderful part of the country and this is a great place to base yourself to explore Northumberland, Hadrian's Wall and even Scotland.

A very welcoming, charming hotel. Very popular with the locals so the bar is noisy but they do serve good beer and have a real fire. Our room was very well appointed and very clean. There is clearly refurbishment underway but this was explained at the beginning and looking forward to heading back when it's complete. The food was amazing...

There is some refurbishment going on in the hotel but it was still spotless and didn't detract from the stay. But the best thing about the cheviot is the food it was fantastic freshly cooked meals. The...

A very warm and cosy atmosphere welcomed us as soon as we walked in. The room had all the mod cons but retained the character of the old building. The breakfast was superb (we weren't the only ones to think so - the visitor book was full of compliments about it) and the staff (and locals) were extremely friendly. We'd...
