Olafsfjordur was almost a ghost town by the second week of September but to looks like it would be quite a destination for outdoors activities and hiking, probably skiing too. The hotel is a bit dated but clean and tidy.

The best way for you is domestic flight from Reykjavik to Akureyri. Then you can search for a bus to Siglufjordur, or a taxi.Without a rental car some problems you have in remote areas.
