Set in beautiful countryside, and a good base to visit Derbyshire from. I received a warm welcome upon arrival. My room was delightful and well equipped. My evening meal was excellent, as was the Alison House Special breakfast, which I heartily recommend. I will definitely stay again.

Very well priced hotel. Spacious rooms set in gorgeous grounds of 7 acres. The hotel is very quiet and tastefully decorated in keeping with its era. Excellent individually cooked breakfast . Also a stones throw from Matlock Bath and all the attractions there

Lovely stay here with 2 teenage children and our dog. We stayed in the one bedroom annex which was perfect for us. An extra bed was put in so our teenages didn't have to squeeze onto the sofa bed. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

As I had a trip to Chatsworth an overnight stay was necessary so we stayed at this country house hotel. Very pleasant staff who were attentive and friendly. The hotel itself is rather faded and in need of updating. My room was in the cottage, a decent size and reasonably clean. The shower room was quiet tight, the door was...

We were a party of two couples who stayed here while visiting the Peak District. One couple had a small double room and the other rented Oaks Cottage which proved to be ideal as it gave us a private sitting room to use later in the night. We found the staff friendly and helpful and we felt most at home...

Not the easiest place to find in the dark, even with the signposts. Breakfast is a late start at eight though the staff are flexible and did open the dining room early. No room service and no desk to work on in room either. Room large but cold and a supplemental heater was provided. Accommodation was clean though could do...

This Hotel has a very interesting history and has gone through many changes yet still retains its grandeur. The grounds are worth a stroll around after sampling the excellent food unfortunately couldn,t stay for sunday lunch which i was told by the friendly locals in the pub was second to none.
