My Wife and I stayed again at this comfortable, homely hotel as part of her art course. We were allocated a ground floor room which was clean, comfortable and ideally met our needs. The Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating and we again found that nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts are excellent cooked initially by Sharon, the...

We met up with some friends for a few days staying at Alison House. Even though we were probably a " lively " group of guests everyone at the hotel could not have been nicer or more helpful to us including the provision of information on local tourist attractions. The dinner menu only offers half a dozen choices for each...

I fail to get disappointed whenever I stay here @ Alison House. I got married here in April this year and have just returned from a weekend away for my father in-law's 60th birthday. Everything was lovely, the room, the food, the hospitality. It truly is a home from home. It's so great for children, I feel that my children...

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. This year I noticed some changes for the good. Some furniture in the public rooms has been upgraded and also the rooms have been painted. This gave a much fresher feel to the hotel. The room I had was very clean and warm. Some nice colour co-coordination. Plenty of...

For value, this hotel is unbeatable. We paid just £95 for a very large room. The room was a little on the mix-and-match side regarding furniture and one of the curtains had a nasty looking stain on it. The overall feel of the place is of a cross between a hotel and a youth hostel (but no part of the...

Hotel is in a nice setting for a wedding reception and lends the perfect setting for wedding photo's, however, having recently been a guest at a wedding reception here I feel they need to look at some details closer and maybe make a few alterations. Fortunately, it was a good dry day, not only for the bride and grooms sake,...

Thank-you for your review, When a Bride and Groom book their wedding at Alison House if they choose a marquee they can book portable toilets that can be sited close to the marquee. but that is their choice. We have noted that the incline is too steep and will take measures to level this out before the first marquee wedding...

Booked a last minute dog friendly room which we were told was on the ground floor. On arrival the room we were shown to, which we had to go down past the hotel kitchens to get to, was more like a budget basement room with windows that were too small to see out of, filthy stained carpet, cheap furnishings and...

We are disappointed to read your review as we feel the ground floor rooms are both comfortable and clean for people like yourselves who like to bring their dogs with them. It is our policy to only allow dogs in the ground floor rooms. The windows are smaller and higher up but many people prefer this as it offers privacy...
