We only had 2 nights and wished we had more - the area around Sanquar is very beautiful - although we did manage to find the sunniest weekend while we were there. The hotel was putting on an Irish Dancing charity event whilst we were there. There was a great atmosphere, and the staff and locals were really welcoming. Our...

Stayed here whilst working in the area. Made welcome, clean rooms and excellent breakfast. Ate in the restaurant twice which was also superb. Would definately return and highly recommend. Well done to the nithsdale team, keep it up.

The Nithsdale Hotel is located centrally in the Royal Burgh of Sanquhar. Winter months are quiet until the local museums open. To concentrate on improvements to the hotel...the dining room is now decorated in a pleasant fashion and offers meals through the day. The meals are adequate and filling and reasonably priced, but not to cordon bleu standard. Owen (the...

After trying a pub along the road we came to the Nithsdale to bring in the bells. We had so much fun! Great atmosphere inside the bar, it was so lively. The locals were exceptionally friendly and made us feel welcome. Good selection of drinks and very cheap compared to Edinburgh! The manager(an Englishman; I apologise for not remembering a...

The room was made up wonderfully and was very clean, the bathroom was gorgeous we were very happy with our stay after a last minute decision on the way home from Oban! The food was good and the...

Myself, wife and our dog had a pleasant 2 night stay. We were made to feel welcome, the breakfasts were hot, good quality and plentiful. The bedroom was clean and reasonably sized, with a comfy bed. We had drinks in the bar, and that was a good experience with plenty of locals to talk to, and our pup was welcome...

We spent three days at the hotel. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, so apart from lunch, we had all our meals in. The local walks (15) are variable in length, delightful and fairly easy going. The local population were also very friendly and helpful - a nice place to stay!

Never having stayed before, we were unsure what to expect, and what a pleasant experience we had. We booked a deluxe room and were not disappointed. Newly refurbished, ours was spacious and comfortable, super king-size bed, quality furnishings, lovely big bathroom with jacuzzi bath and walk in shower. You get what you pay for here. We had this more expensive...

This was our second stay at the Nithsdale in the last two years. It is a welcoming and clean hotel on Sanquhar high street with a lovely little bar area and a restaurant serving beautiful food. I can't say enough good things about the meals, which were fresh, hearty, tasty and beautifully served. The breakfasts are fantastic. Rooms are small-ish...
