Newark Farm has been in the family for 5 generations. Frances, the present wife runs the B&B. There are 3 rooms, 2 are ensuite & 1 has a private shower room. Because the house dates back 250 years, the rooms are huge, with high ceilings & comfortable seating. The beds are good. The breakfast is the best we've ever had... More

Stayed here while walking the Southern Upland Way. Perfect for that purpose - newspaper for our wet boots, relaxed about our possibly dirty socks on the stair carpet, spacious homely ensuite room with fruit and shortbread and fresh milk. Enjoyed meeting owner/host Frances with her enthusiasm for and knowledge of the area.

We needed a clean and convenient place to stay while running the Thornhill Music Festival, not only for ourselves, but for some of the acts that have to stay over. We run the festival on a tight budget, so to save on full-on hotel fees we decided to try Newark Farm. The booking process was very simple, no deposits were... More

We stayed here for a night whilst walking the SUW. We were made very welcome and the room was large and clean. There were lovely shortbread biscuits with the tea and coffee making facilities. The ensuite bathroom had a hot shower and plenty of towels. Breakfast was substantial and we were encouraged to take extra to make rolls for our... More

A working farm, lovely farmhouse accommodation, rustic, quaint, and extremely welcoming. Mine hostess Frances is brilliant, funny and so accommodating, ensuring you feel welcome with nice touches like fresh milk, fruit and bottled water available. The breakfast is superb in quality, intimidating in size, a real start to the day. Tremendous value and a pleasure to review again and confirm... More

Frances picked us up from the station for the start of our walk on the Southern Upland Way. We had a excellent night in a spacious double room overlooking a 400 year old maple tree. A fine breakfast and cheese and rolls to make up a packed lunch.
