Stayed for 3 nights as visiting friends nearby. Very large room on the front with one double and 2 single beds (!), ensuite bathroom, 2 easy chairs and small table, tv and dvd player. Very clean and breakfast extremely good, bacon and sausage delicious. Only slight issue was the bathroom adjoining our room, the other guests used this at about...

A large home farmhouse beside the main road between Dumfries and Ayrshire with a number of spare bedrooms, this was a most convenient stopover en route for the Open Championship at Troon. It could easily have been used as a base. Excellent value at only £38, it would have been even better at a higher cost with more luxurious decor...

If we could we would give this place 6/5!!!! Perfect place to stay, owner jenny and her husband are superstars; they could not do enough for us. Felt as if you were staying with grandparents who wanted to make a big fuss over you. Welcomed in to their guesthouse with a hot cup of tea in front of a warm...

100% satisfaction during my stay, beautifully decorated and well presented rooms. Outstanding service from both Jen & Malcolm who welcomed me into their home, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was well presented and catered for all needs and appetites, a B&B that sets high standards in customer satisfaction and friendliness. Thank you.

We stayed here for my 40th birthday ( which I was in denial for). Was greeted at breakfast with a lovely birthday card. We often have trouble finding places that can accommodate 3 young children but Jennie and Malcolm made us feel very welcome, understanding how boisterous kids can be. Food lovely, rooms immaculate and spacious even for 5 of...

"Excellent" is sometimes used too loosely but not for Rigg House! Lovely hosts who welcomed four tired cyclists - nothing was too much trouble. Great rooms with views of the hills (where we were cycling the following day). Exceptional breakfast with fresh free range eggs from the resident hens. Spacious and comfortable house which reflected the warmth and friendliness of...

We travelled on the Friday to a Premier Inn (stay is the norm) then had to stay local to Kirkconnel on the Saturday night. The check-in is was fantastic and the hotel was beautiful, warm and very well finished. The large lounge with log burner is lovely. We could come and go as we please (but not without being offered...

Jenny and Malcolm are the most welcoming people you are ever likely to meet, they simply can't do enough for you. The public rooms are very comfortable (we had the lounge to ourselves most of the time) and there is a constant roaring fire to warm your toes on. The bedrooms are fine, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is amazing...
