My family and I stayed at Sierra Lago for three wonderful days. Everything from our arrival to departure was perfect. The staff was very professional, pleasant, helpful and always had a smile. Our cabin was comfortably amazing and the turn down service was a nice surprise. We enjoyed the peace and serenity of the environment as there are beautiful flowers and picturesque landscaping throughout the resort. We enjoyed horseback riding, kayaking, paddle boats and swimming in the pool. Did I forget to mention the food? 😊 The menus had a good variety and we were quite pleased with every dish we ordered. We had such a wonderful time, there was so much to do between kayaking, paddle boards, carriage rides, horseback riding and hiking along with the beautiful landscape along with the usual pool food and bars. We didn't have a chance to do everything.
The mountain location is so beautiful and relaxing it is a great place to get away to for peace and calm.
The staff was excellent, the non-english speaking staff were very very gracious and helpful to full full our every want and need. Used Google translate to help our Spanish speaking, and they were always eager to help figure out what they could do for us. Lilia, Daniel, Isaac, Alejandro, Christian, Domitila, Hector these are just a few of the whole staff we got to interact with and got to know the best and feel like we became friends with. Three of us visited and booked a standard cabin (misleading - it’s really a standard hotel room). Cost $9,000 pesos per night for two small matrimonial beds in a room that was not clean, dated with run down furniture, and the satellite TV wasn’t working.
There was so much dust and cobwebs on the ceiling that it activated my asthma and I couldn’t sleep since I wasn’t able to breathe. Thank goodness for my mask for the pandemic, it helped as a dust filter.
The bathroom is spacious but freezing cold with no heat making it into the room.
Overall this was not worth the price paid and almost not even worth staying (in that room) at any price.

We had the chance to go as a family, It was an amazing vacation... kids loved horse back riding, the pool is so gorgeous. The lake, to paddle and kayak its so peaceful and beautiful. Really feels magical. We stayed at Casa Lago; it has a private jacuzzi, kitchen, fire-pit. The master bedroom has a steam shower. The kids where having a blast, nature walks are a must.

Very nice place, everything looks new but they told us that it is already about 20 years old. What good maintenance!!!! The waiters were very hardworking, the 3 days we were there were the same waiters, Roberto was always on the lookout for the guests, carrying the coat rack, the special chair for babies and if any child started to cry Enrique would immediately distract them with a comment or offered something and they stopped crying. Enrique also attended to us, very friendly.
I didn't like the food that much but my husband did, maybe my taste buds are bad 😉
The weather was very pleasant, we were there at the beginning of August. They commented that it had been raining but it only rained on us one day and only for a few minutes.

It is a great place to rest and relax, we chose Sierra Lago to have our civil wedding and I highly recommend it, we decided to have an intimate wedding and they offered us Casa Lago to hold the event, everything seemed good to me and we had a good time. Roberto and Paty were always aware of the entire organization of the place and the reservations. I highly recommend it. The place has some opportunity points such as the means of transportation to the chapel restaurant, since you must arrive in carts and the service is not so fast. Half an hour for the cart to arrive for us and the same on the way back. In this place, which is outdoors, there is a lack of shade on the tables and it is very hot. I think they are not prepared to receive many people since on the second day of our stay the food service was not so pleasant. There were some foods mentioned on the menu. Because of how slow the service was, some of us had to leave the restaurant before our dish arrived because we had the event later. The breakfast and dinner restaurant is excellent. Very friendly staff.

This April (2021) we visited Sierra Lago for at least our 6th time. Clearly we are fans. The photos don't lie and might actually not do the property justice. We go for the quiet and good food. It's all inclusive as once you arrive you are there for the duration. You are an hour away from the closest town which is the point of Sierra Lago.
The resort continues to upgrade both the cabins, public spaces and the quality of the food. The staff is long-term and experienced...everything is a "yes" at Sierra Lago. We walk a lot, read a lot and eat a lot!

I’ve visited many resorts in my life so I can say without a doubt that this resort is the closest to “Heaven on Earth” that I have experienced. I cannot say thank you enough to the amazing Sierra Lago staff for taking such great care of my husband and me during our stay at Sierra Lago Resort. Special thanks to Rodrigo, Hugo, Cesar, Jose, Christian, Nancy, Julie, and Juvencio for making us feel so special! The beauty of this secret hideaway is simply breathtaking. So many things to do… We enjoyed walking and riding bikes around the serene lake. We went horseback riding on the lush trails with our wonderful guide Jose. We enjoyed hiking up to an amazing view of the Sierra Madre Mountains. We can’t say enough about the delicious food from the breakfast all the way to the dinner. And after a day of being active, we relaxed in our warm and cozy cabana. Our room was perfect from the large comfy bed, amazing shower, large jetted bathtub, gas fireplace, to the awesome view of the lake. We will be back for another visit, that is certain! It is worth the somewhat high cost. But everything is super nice. And the food was very delicious, something rare in all-inclusives. The staff were generally attentive, with special mention to Gerardo from the games room, a very noble and attentive boy, my wife forgot her bag and went to look for us on his motorcycle to the restaurant for dinner. The place is highly recommended.
