No doubt one of the best B&B’s we have ever experienced. Hostess Carole caters for every request you might have, even when not outspoken. She has an infallible sense of recognizing a need whenever it occurs. The rooms are impeccable, the breakfast a feast, the garden a luscious place for swimming or reading a book. Let Carole guide you to the path that descends to the Corniche, a small street alongside the Gironde, where the beautiful houses remember of bygone eras. The Corniche is to be enjoyed in the evenings, as the sun sets, and on weekdays, as the narrow street gets very crowded in the weekend. However beautiful the houses may be, I do not envy their contemporary inhabitants. Another favorite in the area is the “bac” from Blaye to the other side of the Gironde, the Medoc, full of prestigious wine estates, such as Margaux. However feasible by city bicycle, we do recommend to explore the Medoc region by car, since the roads are heavily travelled and French drivers don’t seem to care for the other road users all that much. Or you might try the less travelled dirt roads by VTT. If you take your bike with you, then Escale the Bel Air is an excellent starting point for the bike tour from le Porge to Cap Ferret through the woods (to the left of the Gironde) and even further into the pays arrière of the basin of Arcachon, or from Saint Palais sur Mer to La Tremblade alongside the coast (to the right of the Gironde). There are plenty of voies vertes in the region, contrary to the answer we got at the visitors center in Blaye where we inquired for bike roads “ce n’est pas une de nos priorités”. A pity they don’t have the spirit of Carole who recognizes needs whenever they occur. The region could definitely use the impulse of bike tourism, though.

We stayed here for 4 nights and the entire stay was just perfect. The rooms are great, the garden is lovely for relaxing in and the pool was very welcome on the hot days we were there for. Carole is the most perfect host. Nothing is too much trouble, and her breakfasts are just divine. Thank you Carole for making our and my mum's stay perfect !

The perfect B&B. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and immaculate, the shower was amazing and the breakfast was superb. I would love to know how to make the little cakes (local to the area) and the homemade muesli. Carole is exceptional and obviously used to conversing with folks with limited French. Even I can understand her and it's my husband who knows a bit of French. Can't say enough good things.
Shops in the small town close early but it's close to bigger towns.

Wonderful B&B, guest rooms are nicely renovated whilst keeping the splendor of the era and the home made breakfast was quite superb. We only stayed one night as we were exploring the Bordeaux region of France (mainly the Citadel at Blaye) and the best compliment I could give the owners of this property is that next time whilst holidaying in France "we will be back for a longer stay". As another reviewer has highlighted a wonderful hidden gem. Tip - if staying in summer bring your swim wear as the property has an in ground pool that looked very inviting.

We spent two wonderful evenings at L'Escale de Bel Air. Everything about this place is marvellous - from the beautiful interiors to the warm welcome.
We were able to bring some bread and cheese back for a lovely supper on the lawn. My only complaint is to mother nature ... the room was rather warm and we slept with the windows open resulting in several rather nasty mosquito bites. Top Tip: plenty of repellant if you're going to sleep with the windows open :-)

+1
Cannot agreed more with other reviewers, this place is exeptionally great.
Very well maintained two floor house or villa with “House and Garden" - worthy decor and style with quality materials and taste.
Breakfast in the sunny garden was of same class, a perfection.
Ah, one example nouance: The first night we brought in a half a bottle of wine from our restaurant dinner and during the next day couple of wine glasses had appeared next to the bottle waiting for us. What an eye to detail! :-)
Carole was a suberb host!
[Only minor thing to consider is the fact that the small village of Gauriac does not have much services in the evening, so you need to drive to neighboring towns for dinner opportunities.]

The B&B is located in a typical "Girondine" house, very elegant, comfortable and nicely renovated without loosing the typical character of the house.
The rooms are spacious, well decorated and perfectly sound-proofed. The beds are comfortable with high quality of bedsheets.
The garden is flourishing, quiet with many comfortable areas to take a nap. The pool is just perfect.
It was very enjoyable to have the breakfast on the terrasse that was generous with local fresh products.
Finally our guest Carol was just perfect, always attentive but discret, giving many tips and tricks to visit the region. She is passionned by her activity and is the heart of the B&B.
Only bad point: free WIFI not working very well.
We strongly recommend this lovely place!

Nice people, friendly, clean!, well-equipped with furniture, kitchen stuff, towels etc.
These people really know how to accomodate others. we stayed with 2 young children (1 and 2) and they immediately arranged a child bed and an extra matrass free of charge. WiFi works good, tv is present, nice garden and SAFE parking: car can not be seen from the street. We loved it and will return! perfect for 1 or 2 nights traveling further down south or north as break.

I have to use at least 200 characters in this paragraph to say how good it was. Well to sum up, perfect hosts, perfect room, perfectly maintained house, gorgeous breakfast. Nice pool in the garden that invites to be used. To sum up: perfection. And all of that in a welcoming friendly warm atmosphere.
