Detailed Reviews
We've just returned from a short stay at Clos Marcamps. We were met by the owner, Alexandre, who showed us to the room. It was impeccably decorated, warm and cosy (despite the chilly January temperatures outside!). The grounds were well maintained and must be a pleasure in the summer months. Due to covid, there was no restaurant, but the food platter they bought to our room room was delicious (as was the breakfast in the morning). On the basis of this offering, we look forward to trying the restaurant that they owners also run, Les 4 Baigneurs, in the nearby village of Bourg. In terms of the service and quality of the accommodation, we could not have asked for a more relaxing night away! Thank you, and we hope to see you again sometime soon!

Beautiful place, sufficient and secure parking, very pleasant welcome, attentive owners. Various rooms including one - at least - on the ground floor; the Pigeonnier (and its neighbor) have stairs that are a little steep and narrow, but if you're in good shape (!)... plus it's super cute and well decorated. Breakfast a little "fair" considering the overall price. But I am sure that the services will improve....with time and customers (you need money!!!)
Good luck to our hosts.

Beautiful small hotel in a very enjoyable area. The staff is really friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful, perfectly decorated, very comfortable. The garden is very well taken care of. The pool temperature was perfect for summer. Breakfast is great, snack and drinks served by the pool also. Lots of things to visit around, nice villages like Blaye, Bourg, Saint-Emilion, also lots of wineries, cycling tours etc. The F&B options are quite limited at the hotel so one needs to find restaurants around. Small shops around the corner available as well as bakery and pizzeria (take-away). We had a very relaxing stay and will hopefully come back!

We stopped at this Guest House for one night during a cycling trip around Bordeaux. It is family run and we were made to feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was spacious and the food was lovely. The outdoor swimming pool was a real treat and it was lovely to sit by the pool with a nice glass of wine!

What I would like to recount about our stay is the only thing we were able to experience when we got there: their very French "accueil" (greeting)... We could not even get to the hotel, as if we were not allowed in. They saw in the parking that we were 4 people (me, my wife and our 2 children) and the owners came almost running to ask us who we were and why we were there. After I presented my reservation that said we had booked a room for 4 people 2 months before, we finally all realized that there had been a computer glitch from the tour operator: my reservation said 4 people, they had us in a room for 2, with no possible option for 4. Frankly I would not be writing to report this if it wasn't for how we were treated: I mean this can happen, the agency screwed up and now we have to find a solution together. But what was shocking to us was the aggressiveness of the owner (I believe her name is Elaine) who rudely asked us to leave, said that we were "in her house" and that "they were having lunch"... We travel a lot and frankly I have never seen a reaction like this from somebody who works in the hospitality business. Think about it: you are in the middle of a foreign country, with 2 young children and you just discovered that because of a computer issue you have no place to stay overnight. But instead of having somebody who tries to help you, you find somebody who rudely tells you to get lost! Anyway, the end of the story is that thankfully her husband, I believe his name is Michel, tried to make it up and invited us inside, offered us a glass of water and started calling other hotels to help us out.

Sir, We are absolutely sorry for not being able to receive you at Clos Marcamps. Indeed, you made a reservation for 2 people and you are presented to 4. In this high tourist period, we had no other room to offer. In addition, in the face of your violence and threats, we had to call the police. Very cordially.

Clos Marcamps is one of those wonderful places that you arrive and fall instantly in love with. A glorious house, gorgeous garden and beautiful food.
We had Cote Jardin, superbly appointed, cool clean and spacious
Breakfast is offered as a supplementary service each morning, but you would not go elsewhere. Fresh orange juice, a smoothie, yogurt, eggs, and more, all homemade.
On Sunday night they do not offer dinner, but were more than happy to make us up a plate of cheese and fruit, and a bottle of rose to enjoy by the pool. Perfection. We had a wonderful meal of gazpacho, scallops, slow cooked lamb and profiteroles served outside on the terrace our last evening. The menu is a set menu, but the owners are happy to tell you what they are cooking so you can decide whether to stay in for dinner. It is definitely worth staying in.
The Clos is owned by a delightful couple with 4 children. It was really lovely to see glimpses of family life, never intrusive, but it gave the house a relaxed feel, not stuffy. Highly recommended. We will definitely return.

We stayed for two nights with friends and two ten year old girls. The service, food, rooms and swimming pool were really excellent. Best to have a car to stay here, really worth a visit. We would definitely come back.

You have the restaurant Les 4 Baigneurs at 5 minutes driving from Clos Marcamps
What is the weather in August? And how far is it from the beach?
I think the owners have a cat and two dogs. At least, I have seen a cat and two dogs. They are very quick in responding to your e-mail.
It's not a restaurant - the proprietor will prepare meals for guests choosing to dine onsite any night of the week. There is no menu; you get what you get. Pretty tasty, though!! These are three and four course gourmet meals...
