Detailed Reviews
The room was very comfortable with all amenities one could wish for, including air-conditioning and other modern comforts. Large, comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Our room was one of 2 (?) totally newly built above an old barn. Only negative was no hanging space or hangers for clothes. The old chateau itself also has a few, very tastefully decorated rooms. Very French antiques and decorations. The pool is lovely, so is the surrounding garden and vineyards all around. Patrice is a most gracious and helpful host, and his assistant is also very pleasant! We enjoyed the most delicious, gourmet dinner made by Patrice himself, for a very affordable price (3 courses). The breakfast was also very good - we chose the more expensive continental version with cheeses and cold meats - all food is organic!! Can certainly highly recommend, and we hope to return again one day!

+1
We have just come back from a lovely few days staying here to visit family. Patrice was a wonderful host, very friendly and couldn’t do any more to help us. They have worked hard to refurbish the chateau and all the little details are very nice. We had a comfortable and quiet stay. I’d highly recommend.

Coming with friends to spend the weekend we thought we would come back just for the pleasure of doing the same thing again. I make it short: a home to fall on the ground, hyper warm rooms and a pan-African breakfast composed of very good local products. As for our host Patrice, in love with his haven of peace, he cultivates the art of hospitality.

Watch out here. Whilst the room in the picture exists and we saw it, we were downgraded to some terrible room with a flimsy excuse. The fantastic room was not for us...The room we got smelled like something died in there, electric wires sticking out the socket, fireplace held together with duct tape, etc We left shortly after arrival as my wife threatened me with divorce. This review is not biased. I was there and negotiated with the host for about 30 min before we decided to take action. We were offered bio breakfast bio this and bio the other. But we left as we were not sure we would make it through the night. We left and host refused to refund us.

Response from pat g, Propriétaire at Le Domaine de Canesse
Responded 17 Sept 2019

Room nothing like advertised. Carpet about 40 years old and smelt the same! We decided not to stay as the whole place made us feel grotty and uncomfortable. Exposed wiring and unfinished walls. Definitely not pet friendly!

Small B&B type hotel run by Patrice, a friendly and helpful host. It's in the middle of nowhere, but not far from Bordeaux and the estuary. The house is not finished yet, because Patrice continues to renovate and improve it, especially the garden. Maybe you should invest in better materials, which often look "cheap." But their effort to make guests feel comfortable makes up for it. The Bio breakfast is worth it. If you arrive late, you can request dinner, because there is not much around that is open after 9:00 p.m.
