Detailed Reviews
We stayed here in the family room as there were the 4 of us. We were on our way down through France and planned to get the Blaye ferry the next morning. The room was very comfortable with a really good shower. There was also an outdoor pool which we didn't get a chance to use. Isabel was very welcoming and was happy top give advice on the area etc

We spent one night here on our way to Spain. We'd visited 6 years before to taste the wine but couldn't stay and always wanted to return.
We were greeted by Isobelle and offered a wine.
As it was hot we headed for the pool.
You are not staying in the chateau but the rooms are very nice with plenty of room. We drove to Blaye and had a wonderful dinner there at Auberge des Officiers.
Breakfast was okay, served in a small room in the chateau. It looked like it had recently been redocorated.

Overnight stop on way to Vendee. The chateau is beautiful and although you don't stay IN the chateau - in converted outhouses - you get the romantic feel of the old house.
Ours was a large family room with a mezzanine holding two single beds with a generous double below. Lovely bathroom with excellent walk in shower. We were greeted by Isabelle and a glass of their wine which was delicious.
There is a small swimming pool, which I don't recall seeing on the website so dips were taken in evening and early morning.
We drove into Blaye for supper which is about a 10 minute drive. Loads of choice. Excellent market on Saturday morning in Blaye.
We will be staying again, soon, I hope.
Merci Isabelle et Vincent.

This is a review of the château vineyard visit. We didn't actually stay in the accommodation.
We called 3 days ahead to enquire about visiting the châteaux. The woman on the phone said of course but could we sent her an email because she was out to lunch and had no way of noting. We asked what time we should come and she said 10.30. We sent an email confirming as soon as we finished the call and arrived promptly at 10.30.
We were greeted by a polite woman who introduced herself and asked that we wait for the tour as there might be another couple who want to come. She left us in the parking area saying that she'll be back in a bit and we were free to look around. Well, there wasn't that much to look around to... We had a walk around the pretty courtyard, peeked inside a room that was been cleaned and walked around the pretty (but small) and empty pool. After about 25 minutes of waiting around the woman appeared again to tell us that the other couple have decided to come to the tour and they'll be 5 minutes.
Indeed in 5 minutes another couple arrived, they leisurely loaded their car. The hostess was gone again and came back to start the tour 5 minutes later. We had only gotten into the cellar when she was called out again. The bar at that cellar where the tasting was done was filthy. Obviously noone had bothered to clean up from the last tour. We counted a dozen dirty glasses the spitting bucket was left there full and plenty of paper towels and a couple of empty bottles were decorating the place. Time was passing and the hostess was nowhere to be seen. Us and the other couple (not even having been introduced to each other) were going around the cellar wondering when this tour will start.
At around 11.15 the hostess arrived again and started taking us through the winery. Every so often she would nip outside to answer the phone or to talk to another member of staff. She apologised every time but it did make for a very disjointed experience. We quickly finished the tour and she asked if we would like to taste. We said yes and she went outside to get some bottles (and deal with another thing in the meantime). Only when she came back in did she notice the chaos with the dirty glasses and proceeded to tidy up and ask "who left it like that?"
We tasted 3 wines and she explained about their vintages, the composition etc.
The other couple said they had to leave and that they'd like to buy some wine. We got to the shop and the other couple bought a bottle paid, and walked to the door. We went to the châteaux with the intention of buying a dozen bottles for a party we'd be having a couple of weeks after so we wanted to ask some questions about what bottles to get. On our second question the hostess told us that she didn't have time. She had to leave because the market would close and if we wanted to buy wine, fine but either way she had to leave. She was quite abrupt about it as well. I did end up buying two bottles because their wine was good, but the experience of the visit was terrible and to kick us out like that was unforgivable. I understand that the tour run late and that she had to go to the market but that wasn't our fault. We called ahead and even sent an email. We asked if we could taste a wine (because we wanted to buy it) she said that she had none chilled. Well why not if she knew we were coming? What a shame for the producer...

At 95 Euro for a night this was extremely overpriced compared to anywhere else we have stayed in France in the April-May period. By way of comparison we stayed in two different Chateau's either night of our stay here, both within 50 kilometers of this one, both were 20 to 25 Euro cheaper and were both in a completely different class compared to this ramshackle joke.
When I stay in a Chateau I actually like to stay 'in' the chateau rather than an outbuilding which has been cheaply decorated, furnished and supplied.
Uncomfortable bed, Shower and bath which both ran water at the same time, basic toiletries (including the infamous pink toilet paper), tiny TV not set up properly, unkempt grounds and a swimming pool that was so slimy I wouldn't let my dog swim in it.
Each to their own I guess but I certainly wouldn't stay here again.

Family travel in Europe is so much more of a challenge than in the US yet we found Chateau Rousselle on line and what a gem. The owners were warm and inviting, greeting us upon arrival with a glass of excellent wine from their vineyards. Our room was great for 4 and the pool was a nice bonus. The Bordeaux region was nothing short of gorgeous and what an amazing retreat after a day of bicycling and sightseeing. Our room included a nice breakfast with fruit, fresh croissants, baguette and jams and plenty of hot coffee. After our stay, we cancelled hotel reservations for other regions and opted for chateau-inn experiences instead. Cannot wait to return!!!

My wife and I stayed for two nights in July. On arrival we were given a glass of wine and a run down of the facilities. The room was spacious and clean. We spent one afternoon relaxing by and in the pool, which was much appreciated after a week in Paris. Isabelle and Vincent were great hosts a gave us lots of recommendations both in the local area and further afield.
Breakfast was very good with fresh bread and homemade jams etc.
Had a brief winery tour and took a couple of bottles with us on or trip.

This is an impressive large house with outbuildings comprising the accommodation. We stayed in a 4 bed room in one of the outbuildings. The room was pleasant, spacious and with a nice shower. However I did find a hair at the edge of a skirting board (it just happened I had placed by bag near it), suggesting the cleaning might have been rushed. Breakfast was ordinary. I had hoped that we'd be in a refined breakfast room, or former grand dinning room, however, instead you eat in a rather soulless reception area. The people are very friendly, Vincent gave lots of local information and looked up the tram stops and parking for our visit to Bordeaux. The lady who serves breakfast is also very nice.
In summary a nice place, good value for money, but I had hoped for so much more.

We stopped here on route to Spain, one of the main reasons we chose it was because it allowed us to take our dog.
Finding some where to eat on a Sunday in France is never easy but the owner pointed us in the right direction.
It is in a beautiful location, the rooms are well equipped we had a good nights sleep and the shower was decent, plus the offer of some wine tasting was gladly taken up, we left with 18 bottles !
Breakfast was a little basic lovely bread with jam.
Well worth the money and a visit.

My family and I stayed at Chateau Rouselle for one night in December and were very impressed with the quality and high standard of the accomodation, aesthetic of the winery and cellar, and mostly with the taste of the wine.
We arrived and were greated by the owner, Vincent, and he showed us to our room. Then he invited us to try some wine. My husbnd declined so I went alone and the owner allowed me to take 2 glasses back to the room so we could persuade my husband to try it. The plan worked, and he loved one of the less expensive but very drinkable wines called Le Soif de Vincent. We ended up buying 12 bottles!
The accomodation was fantastic- especially with 2 small children (3 & 6 yrs). We stayed in the room called Malbec which has a large double bed and bathroom on the ground floor, and above there was a loft with 2 singles where the kids had room to play while we relaxed downstairs. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The only point to mention was the room was a bit cold because the owner explained that the heat was turned on later than normal that day. If the bed had a heavier blanket we would have been perfect. We loved the shower in the morning and must mention the free WIFI.
In the morning we had a great continental breakfast prepared by the hostess, Isabelle, and she even made some hot chocolate for our kids. They helped us alot with the language- because our French is terrible and they spoke both Spanish and English (and Italian if needed).
After breakfast we had a quick tour of the cellar. The kids were running around like crazy and it was a bit distracting but Vincent was very patient with us. The cellar is impressive and you can see the amount of care and attention to detail that goes into everything at this Chateau.
We ended the visit with trip to the shop and bought some wine for Christmas and the 12 bottles of my husbands favorite.
I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing romantic place to stay, and even more highly- I recommend the wine!
