I stayed at the Calanica for a week in early October 2020 with my husband and two boys, fourteen and six years of age. What a wonderful place! The hotel is located above a tiny bay that hotel guests have exclusively to themselves. The bungalows are set on a hillside above the sea. The view is breathtaking!
Room: we had a junior suite with a double bed and a convertible sofa that turned into a bunk bed. Our boys thought that was very cool. The room was spacious, well equipped and stylishly decorated. There was even a little kitchenette, though it lacked a tea/coffee maker. There was a little terrace with chairs and a table as well were we liked to sit and enjoy the view. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.
Grounds: the grounds are pretty and well-kept. The pool is big and there were plenty of sun beds, but the water was quite cold. There is a tennis court as well.
Beach: there are two sun decks and one can access the sea from one of them. This is easier than it looks. We swam in the sea every day, even when the surf was strong. The beach is rocky, but the ocean floor becomes sandy a few steps beyond the water line. I do recommend water shoes, though. It is best to swim to the left of the big rock, as there are no rocks in the water there. The water was lovely, clear, and warm.
Food: we only had breakfast at the hotel. The food was very good. There was a buffet with bread, cheese, cold cuts, jam, pastries and cakes, fruit, cereals, yoghurt and one could order eggs to taste. The coffee was excellent!
Staff: The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We arrived very late at about 1 a.m., but a very nice man was waiting for us, explained all the facilities to us and showed us to our room. So nice!
All in all, our stay was excellent and I warmly recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from a 1 week stay here and have only good things to say about this hotel. It is located back from the road down a long driveway and is located on the side of the cliffs. There is a railway line that runs directly behind the back of the hotel but trains pass only about once an hour, it was never an issue and we found it to be quite quiet. The lodges are located on the edge of the cliffs so for someone with mobility issues this could be a problem. There are lots of stairs and sloped paths to access all areas. Each room is a detached hut/lodge with its own balcony area. Our room was number 24, on the 2nd row down from the top. It had the most amazing views! The lodge itself is clean and modern, it has a good bathroom with shower, hairdryer and some toiletries. There is a safe and small kitchenette which unfortunately did not have a kettle, there was a cooker hob, sink, fridge and some utensils. It has A/C. There is access to the beach, some parts are large pebbles but there is a sandy section. There are 2 areas with loungers, we weren't there at peak time so we never had trouble finding a lounger. There was a beach bar but we never used it. Also there are tennis courts and a pool which are located behind the hotel. There is a restaurant on site, I have to complement the restaurant staff as the buffet breakfast was superb. So much choice, with omlettes and eggs made to order. Very friendly staff. We ate there in the evening on 2 occasions and the evening food was good. The hotel is a 30ish minute walk from the lovely town of Cefalu which has lots of great restaurants. Quite a pleasant walk except for the hill to get down and back up 😆 There is a shop on the main road near the hotels entrance if you need it. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay so would recommend this hotel.

This truly is a great and relaxing resort. The staff were very friendly, especially during checkin and check out. It is beautifully layed out with about 25 bungalows on a hill. They have two lounge areas with access to the sea.

Rooms were clean and breakfast is very good. Its about a 30 minute walk to Cevalu, along the beach and boulevard. Taxi to the city is 12 euro flat rate (one way). They also have a swimming pool, which is located outside of the resort.

A few minor things for improvement:

- they should not allow people reserving sunbeds, almost all beds are being reserved at 9 in the morning.

- they have a beach bar which is opened all day, but there is no staff to help you

- breakfast is untill 09.30, which is quite early if you are on a holiday

A beautiful hotel with cabanas that gives a lot of privacy, and in our case an amazing view at the sea. Cabana has all luxuries, a very good bed and it is very quiet at night. The staff is great and so is breakfast, dining can be done in the nearby town of Cefalu which is colorful and very Italian. The place has some culture hotspots Al Rocca and the Roman church. Palermo an hour away by rail. Advise to rent a car it does make life more comfortable. The hotel is laid out on a hill sloping down to the sea, you get a free workout.
We has a lovely stay GRAZIE MILLE

Very friendly resort with amazing views. It’s set on. Steep cliff side but still pretty accessible Breakfast is superb. The reception staff were very helpful, even taking our suitcase around the town to weigh it for us( it was one kilo over which would be the end of the world for Ryanair). The beach is great for swimming from and it’s a very pleasant walk to the main tourist parts of Cefalu.

Stayed for four nights in this lovely resort. Everything was perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to help out. It was a great place for a relaxing holiday. The bungalows are all sea view. It is spacious and comfortable for a family of three. The view is spectacular. It’s a must to see the sunset.
The beach area is very quiet and we almost had it for ourselves. The crystal clear sea was amazing and inviting.
Breakfast was good with a good variety. Lunch and dinner was also good.
We felt very safe as all staff and hotel regulations obeyed social distancing which was very important to us during this time.
Highly recommend this lovely hotel! Will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time in this hotel . The bungalows were well equipped and private and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was very tasty . The view is amazing wherever you are in the resort . The pool area was lovely and quiet. The beach is private with a bar which was really nice . There are a lot of steps / slopes but staff are more than happy to take you for a ride in a little buggy to get around the resort and take luggage to and from bungalow . We Thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Thank you! Would love to return.

This is a wonderful little gem of a hotel. Our family of four fit comfortably in our bungalow & enjoyed our own version of Tiny House Nation! Bungalow was clean and AC worked great! Breakfast was a great spread & the staff was wonderful with our small kids. The pool was great & we had it to ourselves most of the time. Highly recommend this resort!

Thank you so much Alessio, Zara, Mario, Nino, Mauro, Gianni, Salvatore… and all the rest. You are such true pros, all of you, and a shining example of Italian hospitality when it’s at its best. We first visited you in 2018 and decided to come back this year and were delighted to find out that things - and staff! - were just the same❣️That is: excellent. We will be back - again. Give our regards to Billy 😘
