We also were part of the group of 40 staying at the Monte Rosa for a week We had a "contemporary" room with balcony (extra charge) Nice to sit out on ,with a table and two chairs. Our room looked over the roof of the breakfast room -not so pretty but we were told that this roof is to be... More

Selected this hotel "blind" from a list of unknowns. Turned out to be a great pick. From the moment we checked in, we knew it was a find. We were greeted graciously by someone who spoke English fluently - "Olga". She was a wonderful resource for the area and gave us excellent recommendations. The morning breakfast was quite extensive - something... More

Arrived as part of a coach party of 40 - this hotel was our base for a week whilst we toured the area. First and foremost is the position of the hotel, right in the centre of town but SO quiet. The pool area is very nice, hot tub and lovely seating around the pool and terrace. Our room was... More

We booked here as were after a dog friendly hotel in Italy and goodness me they've been friendly ! Hotel is in a fabulous location - there is SO MUCH to do in the quaint old town - daily markets, shops, bars, little lanes to explore - and all in an unspoilt Italian area. Breakfast lovely (not used restaurant yet)... More

We loved the pool which is a rarity in these parts. The rooms were modern and clean. The beds tho are too hard for my tastes, a common occurrence all over Italy. The staff were very helpful, spoke lots of languages. We had an apartment in Chiavari but it was hot with no AC(another very common thing across Europe) so... More

Very nice hotel in Chiavari (the best). Location is right in the centre of town - close to the shopping streets and restaurants. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Deluxe rooms are more modern. Very nice pool and outdoor bar area. Parking in garage at a small extra cost. Very helpful staff. Good value for money.

Very family friendly hotel in a brilliantly located part of the old town. The pool was perfect, breakfast exceptional, rooms a bit dated but absolutely fine and service from staff second to none. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Monte Rosa is the "Secret Dream", the fruit of love and constant dedication of two young newlyweds, grandparents of the present proprietors, who in 1909, with passion and sacrifice gave life to this establishment, transforming it over the years from a small restaurant to a 4 star hotel with 62 rooms, Restaurant, Banqueting Hall and Swimming Pool. It's located in the beautiful historical porticoed town centre of Chiavari, immersed in the heart of this vibrant small medieval city, and only a few minutes from the promenade. Chiavari moreover is situated at the centre of an area rich in natural beauty: from the uncontaminated Cinque Terre to Portofino, from Genoa, with its aquarium and beautiful historical centre, to Camogli and Sestri Levante. The hotel is the destination chosen by those who have a passion for trekking, tourism, cycling and mountain biking, those who want to forget the car and choose either the train or the boat as an alternative mode transport or those who simply want to relax and be pampered away from the hustle and bustle of stressful living. ... more   less
