Well the toilet and washing facilities won't win any prizes but who cares when you have a location like this. Perched on a rock with 360 degree alpine views. One of the highlights of the AV1 for us. Homely food and a character restaurant top it off. Not to be missed and don't be persuaded to take the optional lower...

If you are looking for an interesting and memorable mountain experience, this rifugio was one of the best on the Alta Via 1. The rifugio is perched on top of a mountain with some amazing views. Outhouse during the day (indoor toilet at night) and no showers or hot water were all part of the experience. Family run rifugio -...

I love this place! In every aspect it's a no-nonsense mountain place, including very basic facilities, excellent views, good food, a weird bunch of people united for a one night stay, historic memorabilia on the wall and (indeed) moody staff and owners. About the last point there is a lot of fuss from the reviewers, but hey, these guys are...

Had lunch here on a blustery day in August. Perfect place to stop. On the AV1 and a menu that is wide, varied and very local. Lots of game on the menu which always moves a restaurant close to my heart. Since we only came for lunch, which was great, I can't comment on the facilities for overnight accommodations, but...

This was my high spot of the AV1. Welcoming, friendly staff, excellent dinner and breakfast, and comfortable rooms. At night you can even use the indoor toilet/washbasin....luxury! But this is all about location. Stepping out in the early morning and breathing in that view. Remarkable and unforgettable! Also I love the cat...... and I don't like cats......someone tell me it's...

Cannot recommend this Rifugio enough! Beautiful surroundings and to wake up in the mountains was a real treat and a once in a lifetime experience. The host was really friendly and accommodating, and after walking all day in the mist and rain, it was lovely to be welcomed by a blazing fire and a lovely rich Italian style hot chocolate....

I read all the comments and was skeptical to stay there, but I decided to try - everything was just perfect: phone information, check in, dinner, rooms.. House is in a very good condition and clean. Very warm rooms, I was too warm wrapped up in blankets expecting wind coming through the walls, on this hight and exposure. Toilet in...

You have to remember this Rifugio is at 2600m on top of a rock basically so yes, the facilities are minimal. They have limited water, so no showers. They get a lot of daytime visitors trekking up for the view so yes, they have one outdoor squat loo during the day, but after the last visitors have gone and only...

First of all, if you are a tourist looking for a bed rather than a walker who appreciates good huts, you may just want to give this Rifugio a miss even though it sits atop a peak with perhaps the best view along the AV!. Sure, it has outside toilets and washroom (clean), no shower (there is a lack of...

Hi all, we have done the Alta Via One, just few days ago(4th Sept 2012). It was a magnificent experience, meeting people from all over the world. We stayed in about 7 Refugio’s, and most of them are very rustic and we can understand that, water it is a problem all over Dolomites. BUT none of the places were like...

“Sit on the outside terrace with a cold drink and suck up the view. Don't forget to poke your head outside when the sun goes to bed and the lights are all out to equally suck in the night view.”
