My son and I both loved Il Carmine, with its wide hall, lovely courtyard, wide stairway, and friendly staff. Our room was large with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The ensuite bathroom was very clean, with lots of towels, adequate space, shower, bidet and toilet . The room had extra bedding, if needed, a large wardrobe, places for luggage, bedside...

This is a nice and simple hotel with a good atmosphere. The staff is friendly and service-minded. Breakfast is ok. This is a former convent and the interior is still affected by it. They have a separate chapel for guests' use. The hotel is located at the back of town and does not have views. Good parking (in November)

One does not get the chance to stay in a former convent very often, and this one retained its former atmosphere - very quiet and sparsely furnished. The room was comfortable and we did not need a better tv; the breakfast, presided over by a very welcoming and helpful lady, was excellent. Only criticism: We stayed for several nights but...

We chose Il Carmine in Erice from their website and other reviewers' comments. We stayed just one night. Everything in this tiny village is easily see-able in a few hours. Parking: we had a rental vehicle so this was important. Our GPS got us to with 200m of the place at the end of a very narrow road. We were...

Great value for money: simple, clean, comfortable accommodation, and you are actually sleeping in a old monastery! Breakfast is awesome, and the service is excellent. We had a great time, highly recommended

Well this may be only a former convent, but it sure feels like one now. If you are looking for a family-type cozy place, this is not it. Although the building and grounds do have their charm, the rooms are extremely spartan, although not uncomfortable. The atmosphere is quite reserved and quiet, and with all the religious iconography all over...

Caveat: You come to appreciate Il Carmine's location once you find it! (We passed it twice.) Lovely building with a beautiful private courtyard...and charming evidence of the convent this once was (including a chapel). This was just outside the touristy area of Erice and an easy walk to everything. The staff was gracious, but not overly friendly. Included breakfast was...

After the luxurious Villa Igiea in Palermo, we changed gears and chose a monastery - a former convent - in Erice. This place fits the character of Erice - remote, austere, old. The amenities are minimum but comfortable. The ambience is quite special and spiritual.

Charming place to stay once you find it! Clean room, great breakfast and the delightful Silvia tracked down our lost luggage- what more could one ask? HIstoric building in an interesting setting. Delicious breakfast cake cooked on the premises by someone who took pride in her work.

This is supposed to be religious tourism as the hotel is a converted convent. It's difficult to believe that nuns would have had such large rooms and they probably didn't enjoy the volume of hot water that we did in the shower. We loved this experience. The building though spartan is beautiful. The room was very clean, the floor tiles...
