Detailed Reviews
We stayed here in August, the hotel is in dire need of a renovation. The hotels air-con barely works the hallways in the hotel are extremely warm and the air-con in the room just blowed the hot air around. We were given a fan which didn't do much so we ended up sleeping with the window open.

I'm a New Zealander travelling on holiday with my daughter through Italy. Having completed the legs in Rome, Florence, Pisa and now visiting Venice, I managed a booking through Booking.com for 3x nights at the Michelangelo Venice Hotel.
The hotel was rated 4 star and room tariff was less than NZ $100/night...very affordable. E I arrived by train from Florence...the Hotel had arranged a meet and greet and our arrival at reception at 2pm was seamless.
However at reception we were told check in was not till 3pm...so was told to wait 1hr in the lounge. Not ideal for weary travellers...finally we were shown our room on the 3rd floor. It was not quite what I had expected for a 4 star hotel...some lights didn't work in the bathroom...fridge didn't work....no basic tea or coffee making facility in the room...and I had requested 2x single bed and was given a double to share with my daughter. Not the start I had hoped for.
As evening approached I had rung through to reception requesting if there was somewhere we could make a cup of tea...we were asked to give them 7min....30 min passed and no response. This necessitated a visit to reception to rectify....20min later tea was made and we brought it up ourselves. My daughter also asked for hot water to fill her hot water bottle as the night was chilly. It now became farsical, as the next morning the tea was charged at Euro 2.50/ea...with a charge on hot water at Euro 2.00. A 4 star hotel charging for hot water was beyond my comprehension...plus guest services in the evenings was below standard due largely to the lack of staff.
On the positive side...a substantial breakfast was served between 8-10am...it's not free and one needs to make sure when booking that you specify breakfast, for which your room tariff will be raised.
The hotel is situated in Metre about 15min by taxi from the rail station and 20min to the airport. Transport into Venice was simple as trams and buses leave at regulations intervals within close walking distance to the hotel. There were a variety of eateries close by and grocery stores.
All and all our stay was comfortable enough but I feel the hotel is over rated at 4 star and service not to the standard required of a 4 star establishment. It was very average.

Stayed here as apart of our Topdeck tour. The room and bathroom were quite big compared to some of the other hotels we stayed in. The decor is dated but I was happy with the size. The aircon worked fine for us. Breakfast wasn’t anything to rave about. They had a nice outdoor area were a few of us sat having some drinks before going out. A fair drive away from Venice itself. We walked 5-10 minutes to get a bus to Venice that took around 30 minutes. There is a bar in the lobby and the first night of our stay had no issues but the second night my partner went to the bar twice and no one would serve him, the guy who was supposed to be working was sitting and talking to his friend and told my partner to go away, this happened three times - also told him they had no alcohol left at all. We resorted to walking to the supermarket and buying our own drinks.

I travelled for business and had a great short stay at this hotel. I was hesitant to book here at first because of the reviews being more negative, but I'm so glad I decided to book. It is only 10-20 minutes away from Venice by bus depending on the traffic, but the value for money is much better than most hotels in Venice. The rooms were clean and spacious, staff were friendly and helpful. There was a desk in the room which was very useful. I also had a flight back home in the evening so a late check-out was much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again

My first time in Mestre didn't disappoint! I was welcomed by a warm smile by Neomi and her, followed by a seamless checking process. The rooms are clean and suitable for a city break, the feel of the hotel is very welcoming and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious this paired with excellent service really rounded off my stay.
Transport links to venice (15mins by Tram/bus) makes this hotel suitable for anyone looking to visit Venice but stay within a peaceful town.
I will be sure too reccomend to a friend!

This hotel is perfect for a trip to Venice. Its ideally located on the mainland and easy to get to from Venice Airport. Its close to the centre of Mestre with its lovey Piazza Ferretto, shops, bars and restaurants. We took the tram directly to Venice - easy !
The hotel is comfortable, welcoming and the staff are very friendly.

We arrive with our travel group, nice hotel with small room. Lots of food vendor around the hotel. If you visit Venecia is better to stay at the hotel outside Venice because of the price. This hotel is only 15 minutes from the ferny harbor that will take you to the Piaza San Marco at the Venusian island

I stayed there with my topdeck travel group and honestly this was the worst experience ever.
The rooms were not cleaned properly especially the bathroom as there was still hair and literally the toilet was not flushed.
Our neighbours two other girls from the tour group had their door handle for the front door fall off in the nighttime and they claimed the receptionist said “I can call the maintence guy but he won’t be in till the morning” so they had no other choice but to sleep with the front door open all night. From a safety perspective that makes me extremely uncomfortable. The food smelt off at breakfast and I was just glad to get out of there the room was always hot due to their air con policy. Its just a shame because I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt with the comments being more negative than positive on trip advisor but yes I would not recommend them to anyone

+1
Where do I begin? Well the macabre historical figure in the lobby to 'welcome' visitors kind of sets the tone ..... this hotel is stuck in a time warp. Not a charming, shabby chic type of time warp. No just a past-its-sell-by-date style where everything is dated and falling apart.
There is no wifi. No facilities and even the bedrooms ... surely the least one experts of a hotel ... were worse than third world countries I have visited.
Having booked a twin room for three nights, the first night we were allocated a single room with a put-up bed that filled the only circulation space in the cupboard-like dimension. There was one curtain panel that covered about 25% of the window so the sunlight flooded in at dawn and the air-con didn't work. There was no main light, just two lamps which provided the only access to power to recharge our cameras, phones and tablets ... so not only was there no wifi but we had to choose between recharging or light in the room. Oh yes and the socket was hanging off the wall.
On day two we were allocated a twin room ... this one had aircon which was stuck on 'high' so we froze. Yayyyy we had curtains this time .... but no safe ... no shower (just a hose 'thing' on the wall above the bath) ..... and the door handle fell off the inside of the door when we tried to leave.
Shall I go on?
OK. Breakfast: Continental apparently. They don't state which continent. But if coco pops, concentrated fruit juice and strange combinations of cold chopped German sausages and congealed eggy bread squares are your thing, then this is your place! There are some thoughtful touches, to be fair. Like dusty, mismatching plastic flowers between each platter and some peachy table-cloths to set off the swirly carpet.
There are so many more things I could mention but as we have another night in this hell-hole it is depressing me to write any more.
The staff were polite but did not apologise or show any consideration for the fact that our holiday has been ruined.
Location-wise we were upsold this hotel by Tour Center as a 4* alternative to a central Venice hotel. Mestre is a lovely town/area but NOT convenient for Venice.

As a family group we travelled to Venice on 31st May to join a cruise on 1st June and stayed overnight at the Michaelangelo Hotel. On arrival in Venice we discovered my elderly parents cases had not been on the flight and we had to try to trace them. We were helped by the manager of this hotel who gave so much support in terms of letting us use the telephone and also making calls for us when language barriers became a problem. She helped make the stressful situation that much easier. Her name is Noemi Moretti and she should be commended for her outstanding customer service, we cannot put into words how much she helped us. Thank you Noemi, you are a credit to the hotel.
