The rooms are ok, be careful when you book as some rooms don’t have AC, there is no wifi, there is no beach towel included and you need to spend 5 euros every time you need a towel or change it, it is not a deposit. The breakfast is very basic the restaurant serves frozen product and they really don’t know what customer service is. On my last day I had to call the manager because they refused to give me a sun bed. You can’t do anything walking and you will need to rent a car, bare in mind the taxi yo porto cervo is 35 euro each way! The reception are ok as well but when they talk to you, you feel they forced themselves to be nice it is not genuine. The beach is ok but not compare to what you can find around. You need to rent a boat to see the beauty of Sardenia and there is a small pier next to the hotel which is handy. I think for europe this hotel is acceptable if you are not expecting a high standard of service and you are going there only to sleep.

Positive: very friendly staff always willing to help. Our apartment did have airco and our room was daily cleaned and got fresh towels. On the day of check-out, it was no problem to stay a bit longer (noon instead of 10:30) and we were even offered a room to shower and leave luggage in the afternoon (free of charge). Very kind. Improvement possible: our room had a different view than expected (lake view instead of sea view) and we had every evening a musician playing in front of our terras. Some people might like that. I don't. So we had to escape from our room every evening and stay away until 10:30 PM Breakfast: go early because between 10 and 10:30 the kitchen is wrapping up. The hotel is located near another abandoned hotel - the whole area has seen better times, probably before corona . Not convinced that this is a 4-star hotel. After +30 years of travelling, I would rate this more between a 2 and 3 star hotel. (no swimming pool)

- their service level is not coherent with their official star rating: in reality they are a 3 stars hotel - Sun beds at the beach assigned through a lottery system for which you have to enrol the day before - had major travel disruption because of a mistake of the hotel and they did not offer any compensation and they totally lacked of any attention to client service

Response from bagaglino, Direttore at Bagaglino I Giardini Di Porto Cervo

Gentile Sig.

Having arrived late, the friendly manager quickly arranged for us to be taken by buggy with our cases to our room at the top of the hill. The room was massive with a separate lounge/dining area, a small kitchen, a large bedroom, bathroom and two outside areas. Waking up the next morning we were delighted by the beautiful views from the apartment. We didn’t think the breakfast was worth it and chose rather to have a coffee and croissant at the bar next to reception. There is only one restaurant nearby and the quality and presentation of the food was to a high standard. They are a bit expensive and service dropped a bit when the number of patrons increased. Hopefully this was just start of the season hiccups as they find their pace. I found this resort to be very nice and we will certainly come again. With limited choices for dining and being out of town, you will need a car or taxi to get around.

Nice location just outside of Porto Cuervo. The general manager was very good and keen to please and nothing was too much trouble - alwasy helpful and polite. However he couldn't overcome the basic issues which were that the rooms were very tired and dark (brown furniture, brown walls - just drab), the beds were rock hard and uncomfortable, the kitchen was really only a hob with no microwave and no utensils or washing up stuff. Don't buy the internet package for the room - when running a speed test it was 3.8Mbps download and 0.8Mbps Upload - almost impossible to do even even so not worth the package and when I complained he just said it was "italy"! Well considering this is billionaire row I'm not sure how they conduct their business with that speed - not convinced! The beach was nice but there was only a bit roped off for the hotel and the sun loungers were scrunched up together so you were all on top of each other and when it got busier you had to enter a lottery to see if you got one for the next day - if you didn't you could still have a lounger on the rest of the beach but with no umbrella. The cafe on the beach was very slow and expensive and got our order wrong twice. There was no pool either - I didn't realise - although there was one next door - not sure why the hotel couldn't come to some arrangement so that you could use it. The grounds were lovely and good for walking Breakfast was a bit basic and sometimes was cold We hired a car and ate in some nights which was fine but you had to drag the room furniture out onto the balcony as there wasn't any separate furniture which was annoying The town was nice and we found several nice places to eat that didn't cost the earth and we could watch the football (World Cup was on) The other thing was that there was no air conditioning - hadn't spotted that either - they provided fans in the room and luckily it wasn't baking but if it had been we would have been in trouble.

Beautiful, idyllic hotel comprised of apartments spread around the site as opposed to one building. We spent a week in late September purposefully to avoid busy periods and the peace and quiet was perfect. The small beach has crystal clear water with small fish in the shallows and there are boat activities should you want to head out. Our apartment looked out over the fountains with the sea in the distance and was a great place to sit out with morning coffee or dining at night. The apartment was clean and fresh with everything in great condition. The reception staff are helpful and fluent in English should you need assistance. There is a small collection of bars and restaurants about 15 minutes walk up the hill along with a small supermarket and pharmacy. Many reviews on here mention that a car is necessary but if you're remotely healthy you'll have no problem. The Porto Cervo harbour is within 30 minutes walk and you can get a free ferry across to the village which is filled with exclusive boutiques and restaurants. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is due to the restaurant hotel which had non existent service. We waited for 35 minutes after being seated (asking for drinks and to see a menu several times) and ended up leaving due to being ignored. This is the only thing that wasn't perfect though and I'd 100% recommend the Bagaglino in late September if you want peace and serenity in an idyllic location.

The location is beautiful ... lovely landscape.. a little beach that is shared by multiple hotels/ pricy if you wish to hire a chair on the sandy beach. The rooms are very nice and spacious, clean with a kitchenette perfect for families... but in need of a major update.... the electricity went off three times while trying to cook and have the Tv on at the same time..food is expensive but we had the best gelato ever. There is a shop 15 min walking distance... however, you definitely need a car if you want to shop or explore the nearby area.

We read other TripAdvisor reviews before staying so were aware of the potential noise problem from the entertainment. We had emailed (in Italian) beforehand to request a quiet room with a view but it wasn't answered, despite me chasing. On arrival, we were given rooms with a great view and with two balconies and a roof terrace. I was in heaven. I had visions of sitting on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine looking at the view. But then we realised that we were very close to the square where the entertainment takes place and over the breakfast room so we asked to move to a quieter room. We were taken to an apartment that was on the other side of the resort and disappointingly it had a view of a wall. My visions of siting with my glass of wine in the evening disappeared! We asked to swop rooms again for one with a view and the only one free was a 'superior room' with air conditioning (which we didn't need at that time of the year) and a proper shower (i.e. not one over a bath) but it was an extra 300 euros for our remaining five nights and we decided that it wasn't worth the extra money. It was also a few minutes' walk up a steep path. We are relatively young and fit but that walk may have been difficult for some. I was very disappointed to leave the other apartment with its balconies but thought that the evening entertainment would prove too annoying for us. The sound of the footsteps of the people in the apartment above us was very loud (I nicknamed them the Riverdance crowd) and that woke us up late and early anyway. The bathroom and the kitchen did need updating as other reviews have said. There is no kettle so you have to wait 15/20 minutes for the water to boil in a pan (I wish I had brought a travel kettle). A little welcome basket containing things such as salt, sugar, teabags, cleaning products would have been very welcome after a long journey but there was absolutely nothing. I have stayed in two cottages this year for short trips and had things like that provided each time. As there are no cleaning products or basic items in the kitchen, we had to buy washing up liquid, scourers and salt etc that no doubt got thrown away when we left as we couldn't take it back with us and that seemed a huge waste. There was no grill or oven in the kitchen and the cooking facilities consisted of four electric hobs so our cooking was limited. I should have reported it but we cooked eggs one morning and then threw them away because the metal of the pan came off on them. The cups were small so we bought ourselves a mug each when out in order to have a proper cup of tea (yes, very English, I know). The bathroom was tired and dated. We never did get to the bottom of the 'light' switch over the bath which sounded an alarm in the front room! Also disappointing was the lack of a single English channel on the TV out of perhaps 60 channels. I know we were on holiday and weren't planning to sit around watching TV but sometimes after a long day out it's nice to chill out on the sofa and watch a film. I have stayed in hotels before that have had at least one English channel showing family friendly films and it was very welcome after a long day out. As others have said, wifi is free in reception but not in the rooms. Luckily the 3G data was good there so we just used our data up instead. The hotel is in a good location for getting around but you do need a car. We didn't see any public transport and the transfer from the hotel was 90 euros each way. The car hire for the week was just over 90 euros in all (hint - if you hire a car, get to the queue early as we were waiting in the queue at the airport for nearly an hour). We didn't use the private beach because it's pebbly rather than sandy but instead went to the beaches around. Our favourite was the Grande Pevero beach. There was no lottery for sunbeds in the week that we were there (beginning of September). The staff were very helpful when we were trying to sort out the room situation and the rooms are visited by housekeeping every day. I can't fault the reception or the housekeeping staff at all. The reception staff were also very helpful in telling us about the area. I've given it a three star review because my partner and I thought the place was average. It could be so much nicer given some tlc and a few little nice touches, such as cleaning products for the kitchen, a little welcome basket, an updated kitchen and bathroom and at least one English TV channel (such as one showing family friendly films).

Hotels.com oversold this property with features our first “garden view” room lacked but staff found a better room w view! Gracie! A good deal for porto cervo area. Next to a nice beach. Room has 1 bedroom two comfy sofas and small kitchen and great terrace. Clean with daily maid service. Be careful what hotels.com says are included. Wifi is free ONLY IN RECEPTION AREA. Otherwise 5€ per day in your room.

The first thing to state about the Bagaglino is you definitely will need a hire car to make the location work for you. The restaurant on site is ridiculously over-priced for average food, so you need to get out and about to find decent restaurants (See other reviews). The nearest cluster of restaurants are half a mile up a steep and windy little road, so not possible to walk for everyone. We expected more to do in proximity, but there is very little to do on resort. There is no pool, but this is compensated in part by a lovely little safe beach. Although we accessed the hotel's free sunbeds on the days we wanted them, we were told that there is a lottery for beds on busier days. Luckily we were out touring on one such busy day. Another thing to mention at this point; there are lots of young children running about, so if you are wanting a relaxing, tranquil, romantic break, this is not the hotel for you. There is watersports available close by, such as wind-surfing and small boat hire. The rooms are basic and clean and ours had a fantastic view of the beach and harbour. We enjoyed watching the luxury yachts come into the cove and moor up in the evening. The beds were on the borderline of being too hard for comfort - so if you like soft mattresses, beware. The free Wi-Fi advertised is only accessible in reception - that really is not good enough for a supposedly 4 star hotel. The staff were friendly enough to us and the grounds of the hotel were lovely - as said, just missing a pool! So in view of the lovely setting and view it may seem a bit harsh to mark this as a three star. If you have children and want to tour the coast from a fairly convenient and attractive central point (lots of other beaches within shortish drives) then this might work for you. I hope this helps.
