We spent 5 nights at Borducan in November and it was great. The hotel is beautiful and cosy and the location is awesome. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly and made us feel almost like home. We were travelling off-season, so hotel wasn't fully booked but that made our stay even more special. Room was well kept and peaceful with... More

We stayed one night with our 4 month old baby and had a family room at our disposal. The hotel owners are super service minded, and arranged both a cot and a baby bath for the little one. All is very clean, rooms are spaciuos and in perfect condition. We all slept wonderfully in this quiet place. The location is... More

Stayed here for two nights in October and really enjoyed the stay. Our late (11pm) arrival was accommodated and our car was kindly parked for us (very useful given the the narrow streets) The room was quirky with a spiral staircase to the 'living room' and a very comfy bed downstairs. The view from the balcony is amazing and given... More

A real country style hotel with the most amazing views . How stunning to be above the clouds looking down and watching sunset and sunrise everyday . When it wasn't cloudy , the view was just as breath taking . A family run hotel and very knowledgeable of the history of Varese. We were B&B basis only. A large variety... More

The drive up to Al Borducan was a bit scary. The car navigation led us right up to the entrance of the hotel but there is no way forward and the only way back is in reverse. But after parking in the small lot that belongs to the hotel we entered a beautiful hotel that is so well redecorated in... More

Lovely remote location in a tastefully restored historical building. The young owner (5th generation) brought us to our room and shared many details of the house's history and renovation. We were enchanted by the entire ambiance. This is the kind of unique, special hotel we're always hoping to find. The restaurant staff is very charming and efficient but not hasty... More

Al Borducan is a mesmerizing and magical place on the Sacro Monte (Holy Mountain) in Varese; a beautiful family-run monument in Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) that takes you right back to the roaring twenties. We (couple, mid-twenties, travelling by car with a small-medium dog) arrived at Sacro Monte after a nice drive through the mountains. Initially, we were confused a bit... More

****Ignore the negative reviews, this place is amazing**** The Hotel Al Borducan is a charming guesthouse built in 1924, still run by descendants of the original owner. Ten comfortable rooms, tastefully furnished, many with very high ceilings and expansive views of the valley. Even rooms that do not face the valley have picturesque mountain and village views. The hotel is... More

We arrived very early just as breakfast was being cleared and were met by the owners daughter in law. She offered us coffee and pastries and told us about the hotel and the history. We decided to leave our bags and go for a walk. We then met the charming owner who obviously loves the place and his work. He... More

Should you be looking for a great views from the picturesque Italian postacards, you should come here at least once. But be ready that at entrance point the miracle will disappear: very old rooms, uncomfortable bed, poorly working shower, slow and very 'authentic' staff with zero interest in keeping the client loyalty to come back. Add no Wi-Fi in the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel-restaurant „Al Borducan“ , a vintage manor house, has been completely refurbished without disturbing the original Art Nouveau style of the 1920s.To this day each room has kept its unique charm of the former Bregonzio residence and choice pieces of vintage furniture further the congenial atmosphere of the manor house. It goes without saying, however, that modern facilities like sat-tv, telephone, safe, free of charge wireless internet access, minibar and en suite bathroom cater to the convenience of our guests. ... more   less
