This is a lovely small hotel with fabulous views over the bay onto Sorrento. Staff are welcoming and very helpful, the hotel is clean and well organised, it has a pool with beautiful views. Would highly recommend but best if you have own transport.
Lovely hotel and wow what a view. We chose this hotel because of the reviews of the view and it didn’t disappoint. However we were on the third floor below reception and didn’t have an iron balcony it was a wall and when you sat down you couldn’t see over the wall. We were also next to the dining room and did get noise from there early in the mornings and also reception as our room was under there too. We also had someone walk from the dining room across our balcony to their room as there are planters separating the terrace and the stairs from the bar also overlook the balcony so not private at all. I’d like to stay again but would ask for a room on floor 1 or 2 above. The pool is lovely and also has a stunning view and waiter service from the bar, but could do with some cushions on the wooden loungers. No restaurant in the evenings but they do serve very good paninis and a drink for €5 lunchtime and evenings and a lovely terrace to sit in with the fabulous view to Sorrento, Capri & Naples. Breakfast was continental and very nice with lovely coffee. I’d advise having a car as it’s a bit out of the way but you could walk into Meta and lots of free parking at the hotel. The staff and the view are the diamonds in this hotel and make up for the few issues. Angela the waitress was lovely and always smiling. Would love to stay again.…
We spent 10 days at Hotel Mega Mare from 11th to 21st June. Our bedroom terrace view was spectacular! The staff are friendly - especially Angela - and the swimming pool was great. The view from the rooms, breakfast room and pool is wonderful. The facilities are clean and the team were responsive to requests for an iron and hairdryer. This hotel is suitable for couples of all ages and you will need a car to get you about. The hotel has an arrangement with a local car/scooter hire company who will deliver the vehicles to you. We hired our car in Naples and drove to Vesuvius, Pompeii, Sorrento and surrounding areas for our excursions. We met some lovely fellow guests from Norway, Italy, France and Germany and everyone we spoke to was pleased with the hotel. There is wifi in the reception, breakfast and terrace areas, so we were able to catch up on work emails when we wanted.…
the best hotel experience of my entire life. every morning and evening to see such a beautiful view from the window from the cliff (all rooms in this hotel with a sea view). very tasty and very varied breakfast, real Italian coffee and the friendliest staff made me fall in love with this place with all my heart. The station is within walking distance (20 minutes), but if you suddenly need a taxi, be sure to ask the owner of the hotel for help, he is always there. local taxi drivers are very arrogant, and since there is no Uber in the city, they charge terrible prices. in turn, the owner of the hotel has friendly relations with several taxi drivers and for you, as visitors to the hotel, they make an excellent price. And of course, I will really miss the cat that waited for you every evening in the hotel lobby. It was the best choice we made in Sorrento. Thank you Mega Mare we had the best holiday thanks to you…
The hotel has a beautiful location - on a high cliff above the sea and all rooms have a wonderful view of the bay, you can watch the sunset from your private balcony. We spent 7 nights in the hotel, a portable radiator was available for use during the colder nights. The room was clean, the bathroom spacious, the water in the shower still warm. Towels were changed daily and often bed linen. The night was quiet, we only heard the wind and sometimes more distant sounds from the rooms. Breakfast was sweet and savory, I would especially like the crunchy delicious croissants and cappuccino with a heart, brought by a nice and likeable waitress, locally sweet sweets made from fruit. The director of Hotel Mariano willingly and promptly booked us a taxi, the staff was always available at the reception. The hotel has its own parking lot, public transport is accessible from Metz - about 30 minutes walk. The way to the hotel will be made more pleasant by a gentleman who squeezes the juice of oranges and lemons of local production along the way - we have always been looking forward to this vitamin stop :-)…
The view is the only reason to come to this hotel, and you'd better arrive with a car. There is no wi-fi in the rooms, and a very poor one in the lobby. A very undated hotel, with the most poor breakfast we've ever had. Ther's no venta in the toilet, so it's very smelly, and no hair dryer. Too expensive for ehat you get. You pay mostly for the view. The owner isn't pleasent as he appears to be.
From the moment I turned up late on a Saturday night I was given a very warm welcome. All the management and staff where very helpful. The hotel is in a beautiful location the view is stunning and worth the trip alone. Good choice at breakfast. The hotel is clean and tidy. I would recomend this hotel most highly there is a train station nearby and you can easily access Sorrento or if you wish Pompei. If you like peace and quiet Mariano will make you most welcome.
The first things that come to mind when I reflect on my week-long stay at Hotel Mega Mare is location and staff. While the property is well kept and comfortable, and the breakfast is decent, the view and staff are really what set this property apart. The hotel is located on a cliff face between Vico Equense and Sorrento, so it’s best to have a car (I think there’s free parking on-site) or be comfortable navigating the Italian drivers along the rather busy road (there is a narrow sidewalk along the mountain side of the road for part of the walk into Sorrento, and you can cross the road to take a pedestrian path down the mountain into Meta; from here, you can either (1) catch the Circumvesuviana into town for €1.30ow (the walk to the Meta train station is about half an hour and 2.5km), or (2) you can walk the remaining distance to Sorrento (it’s around a 90 minute walk from hotel to city center)). I know this might seem far, but for those who enjoy walking, there are numerous interesting things and viewpoints to see along the way, and it’s great exercise. I wouldn’t trade this location for a shorter walk as the view is unparalleled. I greatly enjoyed sitting on the terrace every evening to watch the sun go down. The other thing that really stands out to me is the staff. Francesco, Antonio, Mariano, and the entire team were always friendly and attentive. While other guests filtered in and out over my stay, the staff always remembered my room number, my preferred way to take my morning coffee, and how I like my room after it was cleaned. I would love to stay here again if my travels ever bring me back to this area.…
It is a great place! The view is stunning, the rooms are clean, big, with nice furniture and design. The personal is helpful, nice, professional. We totally recomand this location, no matter the season!
