La Locanda il Boschetto is situated in the heart of Tuscany, just 10 km from Volterra, a city full of historical treasures, 15 km. from S. Gimignano, with its majestic towers, 35 from Siena, with its famous Palio and 45 from the nearest sea. The structure is so named because it lies just outside a forest of oaks and holm oaks where you can go to escape the summer heat. The Locanda il Boschetto has 6 rooms among double and triple ones (all equipped themselves with TV, refrigerator and private bathroom with shower), and inside a restaurant where you can taste the most genuine and classic recipes from Tuscany, accompanied by a selection of the most famous Tuscan wines. Our goal is to offer our guests a relaxing journey, trying to bring them closer to the Tuscan culinary tradition. Our kitchen is trying to be as genuine as possible, making use wherever possible, of products from our garden, those of the forest, our olive oil to prepare some types of handmade pasta, pickled vegetables, jams, cantuccini biscuits and many others sweets. We gladly welcome all kind of animals who can enjoy the same holiday of their owners, surrounded by greenery.

This little place doesn't look much, but once your in you want to stay. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We stayed one night here on our way back from Liguria to Sweden. First thing that happened when we sat down for lunch was that our dogs were offered water. Marvelous food, for a good price. When having dinner, we were very impressed by the capacity. Suddenly two big companies arrived, one with 10 people and one with 8 people. No problem to get them seated, and as far as we could see they were all served without delay and seamed as pleased as we. The only thing we missed was air condition in the room. But you can't expect everything in a small countryside B&B like this. Though - breakfast could have been a bit more varied than sweet cakes. However, the coffee was very good.

We waited to eat at a local place instead of eating in Volterra, it was well worth it. We all got something different and every dish was great. Local food and wine, authentic cuisine and they speak English very well. GO THERE!

Once more we had a wonderful evening in Il Boschetto. It's a special occasion every time we go there, thanks to Marcia, Elio and Alessandro. This is a very friendly family run haven where people are made very welcome and encouraged to relax and take their time. The food is excellent and there is always a word of advice on places to visit, how to source whatever you seek and the latest on whatever sport you fancy. There's no rush or undue haste to reuse your table even on the busiest days. I can't recommend it enough. Try Marcia's apple cake and the wonderful limoncella if you have any room after your delicious main meal

I cannot possibly count how many times we have been to Elio's and Marcia's place, but I do know that we never get disappointed!!! They make the most tasty tuscan dishes and run, together with their son Alessandro a B&B that makes you always feel welcome and at home. Do not leave without trying bruschetta di pomodoro, crostini with salsiche and my husband's favorite, the tagliata with gorgonzola and radicchio....but don't worry if you are not a meat lover, the pastas are excellent as well! I can't wait to go back - a la prossima volta!

Driving to Voterra we decided to stop for lunch. Like a previous review mentions, we were not exactly drawn in by the appearance of the place, but we had discovered other delightful finds off the beaten path so we were willing to give it a chance. Wise decision. The food was wonderful and very reasonably priced, the house wine a true value, and the service was like being in the home of friends. When I mentioned that I didn't know what "rackets" salad was, the server excused herself for a moment and came back with a small bowl of greens for me to sample before ordering (arugula, by the way). I had pasta with a delicious meat sauce and my wife tried the lasagna after determining it did not contain any wild boar or horse meat, both of which are on the menu. Highly recommended.

On our way from Voltera to Siena we were in need of a quick bite to eat. We saw the flags out front and decided to pull off at Locanada Il Boschetto. We are not hard to please when it comes to Italian food, but were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the pastas, especially the one with wild boar. More than anything, we were impressed with the quaint ambiance and the friendly staff. We would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone driving thought the countryside looking for some delicious and reasonably priced pasta and an interaction with some friendly Italians.

Don't be fooled by the flags waving outside or the simple appearance of the restaurant itself. This is a charming family owned roadside inn just outside of Volterra. Restaurant offers typical Tuscan dishes. Excellent quality food, genuine home made flavour and friendly staff have kept us coming back on each of our visits to Tuscany. The prices are unbeatable. We can warmly recommend and will definitely be back.
