Hands down the most beautiful place I've ever stayed. 750 acres of amazing. The villa and surrounding buildings on the property are beautifully designed, restored, and appointed. We stayed in the farmhouse- inviting, comfortable and rustic, while also sophisticated. The staff are just the right amount of friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were...

My heart pounded as we approached this exquisite hotel! As with all online pictures of a hotel, you must prepare for the fact that they took the best appointed rooms at the very best angle with a bit of Photoshopping. But believe me when I say even though there may have been a schosh of touch up nothing about this...

My husband and I recently stayed at Borgo Pignano for 3 nights after spending 1 night in Florence and we were blown away by our stay. We rented a car in Florence and drove down to Volterra, which we both agree was a great choice. We didn't have a hard time finding the hotel and it was great having the...

We stayed as a family in late August and it couldn't have been more perfect. We had four adults and a baby in one of the little cottages in the courtyard and a separate one-room cottage for our daughter and son in law. The cottages have small well equipped kitchens and the bedrooms were just what we wanted. No horrid...

Stunning old property on a beautiful estate. The gardens are gorgeous and provide a number of different eating venues. Tuesday was BBQ in the garden, Thursday was pizza night by the open-air oven. Both were outstanding, and you should arrange your stay to include them. In between we ate dinner in the formal restaurant; delicious but maybe a little too...

We stayed as a family of five in one of the cottages just off from the main building. As a tight-dad, this worked well as we had the option to self-cater to reduce the post-Brexit sterling drop a little. The whole setting, architecture and views are breath-taking, and whilst it looks rather imposing on arrival, the staff were incredibly friendly,...

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of August. We had a double room in the cottage lower in the valley, away from the main hotel as it was fully booked when we were booking. It turned out we were sharing the cottage (its a large spacious building!) with two families and the hotel staff said it was...

We stayed at Borgo Pignano for a long weekend in mid-July. The setting is unarguably picturesque. The main villa is beautiful, the grounds are well manicured, the infinity pool is magnificently done, cut away in to the rock, and the views are unbelievable. It's so quiet that it's the perfect place to relax. The only downside is the food. Maybe...

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your positive feedback which is greatly appreciated, please also see our feedback below. Food…. Our restaurant is more of a fine-dining experience where we prepare our home-grown organic ingredients. These are prepared and presented in a more elegant style which we feel is in-keeping with the overall atmosphere of the property. That said,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Borgo Pignano is a charming private Tuscan estate on 750 acres of secluded and unspoiled fields, hills, woods and gardens near Volterra and San Gimignano, in the province if Pisa, between Florence and Siena. Pignano’s main building is an eighteenth century villa, surrounded by English gardens, with pristine landscapes that are unchanged from Renaissance times. To the west, a series of hills unfolds towards the sea; to the east, woods and gardens are alive with the song of birds. There are 14 elegantly furnished rooms and suites, some with their original frescos and all with white marble or travertine bathrooms and spectacular views. An elevator serves every floor save the cellar. There are generous public rooms and dining areas and WI-FI is available throughout the villa. On top of the Villa, it is always possible to lodge at the Podere La Fonte, Casa del Lago, the Artists’ house or to rent one of the Borgo’s apartments. The public rooms of the villa include a two-storey ballroom with a terrazzo floor and a balcony; a large library with a fireplace flanked by comfortable sofas; a music room with an antique Bechstein grand; a banquet room in a two hundred year old kitchen, a smaller dining room, a television room, a billiards room, a children’s activity room, a small gym, and a yoga and meditation room. The infinity swimming pool was carved from a limestone quarry on the slope of a hill directly beneath the villa. There is an adjacent outdoor bar and an outdoor shower. Borgo Pignano’s chefs prepare three healthy, authentic Tuscan meals every day, using the freshest local and organic ingredients, which vary by season. Bread, croissants, pizza, and biscotti are baked in our wood- burning oven. Vegetables, oil, grains, honey, and fruit come directly from the property, or from neighboring organic and biodynamic farms. We pay particular attention to the special dietary needs of our guests for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or anti-allergenic menus. ... more   less
