This was our second stay with John and Gail at their fantastic B&B, and we'll keep coming back! A really warm welcome, and nothing is too much trouble for our hosts. Spacious en-suite rooms, great breakfasts, ideal location in a quiet valley with wonderful walking from the door, fabulous views and a great pub next door!

A fantastic place to stay. 3 large sized bedrooms, one with en-suite. A very spacious lounge with great views through the vellux windows. Very comfortable and feels like home. No mobile signal but a good wifi signal to compensate. Plus there is a pub next door with a fantastic range of items on the menu. What more could you want...

Spent a week here over New Years to "get away from it all" and was impressed with the accommodation. Situated in a picturesque location, has all the mod cons you need including Wi-Fi (no mobile signal at all). The pub next door was most pleasant and low key, served nice beer and great food and Gail & John were very...

Stayed here for one night as part of a walking short break. All good - room clean and comfortable. Shower excellent. Hosts Friendly. Breakfast excellent. Next door to the pub, which serves food till 9 and decent beer. There could be a better spot, but it's hard to think of one ! (if it's important to you, note that mobile...

Cannot be faulted: comfortable rooms, lovely breakfast, friendly owners, excellent meal/drink/atmosphere at pub next door, and surrounded by the beautiful Duddon Valley. Lots of historical associations too, with Wordsworth and the Wonderful Walker.

Great welcome and very nice room, clean with good facilities. Very nice breakfast and the pub next door does excellent food. You can also pay for your room at the same time as your food which was helpful.

Gail and John run a nice friendly B&B. The room we had - Number 1, has a double bed and a TV and a decent size bathroom with a powerful shower and lots of hot water. John has set up wireless broadband, so if you need to check your E-Mail you can - mobile phones have no signal - good...

Gail and John were excellent hosts, and their son who runs the Newfield pub next door was also very friendly. Good rooms, good food, good real ales and a friendly welcome - everything that is best about the Lake District!

Stayed here as part of a walking trip. We booked because of the location and really fell on our feet. The Duddon Valley is one of the most beautiful and quiet corners of the Lake District and the lodge is in a beautiful location close to a wooded gorge. The landlady greeted us with tea and biscuits on arrival. The...
