We needed shelter from a torrential summer storm and stumbled across La Lanterne. Fortunately the owner had a room spare and we found a cosy billet for the night. If you're coming down from the ferry Fougeres is actually very well placed for an overnight stop. There are the usual chain motels in the vicinity but why not try something...

We were riding the France en velo route with our eleven year old son and knew we needed a comfy bed after a hard day in the saddle. The host was really kind, humorous and easy going and the room was much better than we'd anticipated. We had booked through facebook and hadn't had to put a deposit so we're...

We stayed here with bicycles while following the Tour de France for a couple of nights. The rooms are very basic but clean and tidy and the position is perfect for visiting the very pretty town of Fougeres, especially the Chateau. The owner Frederic is extremely helpful and accommodating with delicious home made jams with crepes and baguettes for breakfast....

Extremely friendly host. We were welcomed warmly and shown to our room. The rooms were very comfortable and nicer than we expected. Breakfast was very nice with delicious jams. The guy was very helpful when we had questions and the best part was it was only steps from the castle.

Location is amazing - right next to the entrance to the castle. It's tricky to find in the car without some very specific directions as it's a way from the parking places, but easily located on foot. Don't be put off by the shabby exterior - it's perfectly nice inside. Our room was plastered with posters and clippings, with a...

We had a good stay at La Lanterne B&B, welcomed by cheerful people, very closed to the Chateau, in a typical house with visible stonework and big wooden beams. You are straight away in the atmosphere of middle age and time of horse rider. We had a good breakfast with local products. Fougeres is a beautiful place.

This is a difficult review for me. The young couple, their little baby boy seem like very nice and good people with a cute three-legged cat. They do not speak much English. Unfortunately, it was uncomfortable for us stepping over baby toys and walking through the edge of their kitchen while they were eating to get to and from our...
