We stayed at the Belum Eco-Resort for 3 days/2 nights. Note - you have to book a package to stay, at least food but you're really going in order to take a tour; so I made the reservation initially through a website but finalized over email/paypal. The drive to Royal Belum was very pleasant, a nice road and the jetty where you meet the boat is modern and has lots of information on the Royal Belum park. Driving in Malaysia was easy, I imagine we could have taken a bus but having our own car was much easier. We left the car at the jetty, 5 MYR ($1 USD) per day. The boat showed up on time and one other family joined us on our trip back to the island. The boat trip is very nice, a leisurely tour on a houseboat, and is a nice perk to staying at this resort. Perfect stay with perfect host. The property is on a smal island and feels like paradise. The home made cooking is excellent and fresh. Our host Robert and our guide Mohan are really friendly and know how to show us the best spots in the jungle and on the lake. We learned a lot about the Malaysian people and the rain forest. Staying at Belum-Eco resort was an amazing experience for our family. We truly recommend this resort.
I had been booking my family trip since once year ago for 7 rooms, yet when I arrive, been inform only reserved for 6 rooms and they are fully book. The pic Ms mah with very bad customer service and argue without any apology and yet find no solution. If you expect no service, only consider this place.
Eleven classmates from Class of 1975 felt the closeness to Nature and this, is the charm of the beautiful island resort. This 2N3D stay in Belum Eco-Resort shall be remembered for a long time. After a day long hiking and boat ride, we were served with a delicious dinner every evening. After dinner, we had great fun with our mahjong games and karaoke sessions despite the whole antique system needed to be revamped. Steve, the resort owner promised to do so. Nevertheless, Belum Eco-Resort is value for money. Great thanks to Steve and his team for their wonderful hospitality.
The Belum Eco-Resort is not your standard property. It is very off the grid, unique and laid back. Our hosts, Mohan and Mr. Robert did a great job cooking and guiding us along. Please look at their website first and make sure you know what you're getting into. There is nothing typical about this location. As long as you're along for the ride, you'll have an incredible time. We sure did.
I was very facinated about the way the resort was maintained, the hut is so “original”, it give us the opportunity to “feel” the nature surrounding the hut. The staffs working there are super friendly and care taking, i will feel relieved when they are taking care of my kid especially he was playing in the lake, waterfall, jungle walking. They have vast knowledge on the nature and living in Temenggor which allows a city person like me to have some insight story of livelihood in rural. Overall, it was a fantastic getaway for me. A great bonding with family as limited wifi and gadget.
The host was very friendly and helpful. The resort was clean. Meals provided were delicious and varied. Excursions were well organised and educational. A pleasant and enjoyable stay and memorable experience.
The Eco resort is very relaxing and it is certainly back to nature. Clean, clear water surrounds it. The steps to climb back to deck after a swim could be wider, to make the climb easier. Meals are served just right and should plan to be in time. It certainly is a wonderful resort & adventure for anyone interested in trekking. Remember the insect & mosquito repellents.
A wonderful experience with very nice and interesting people. The Discovery of wild life (elephants, birds …) and the trip in the jungle with a youg guide willing to help his guests to understand the Belum forest was an unique experience in Malaysia.
Our stay at the Belum Eco Resort was a truly unique experience – living on a remote island in the middle of the rainforest with all its sights and sounds … wow. (But no worries: it's just a half-our boat trip from the jetty and you'll be picked up by the staff.) Steve Khong, the generous host, and his great team made it all possible, from tours to hidden places (waterfalls, Rafflesia flowers, oran asli villages, wild elephants even) to simple but perfectly suited jungle cabins (with own shower and toilet) and the delicious local food (often prepared by Steve himself). Thank you, Alexandra & Andreas
