Our stay at the Belum Eco Resort was a truly unique experience – living on a remote island in the middle of the rainforest with all its sights and sounds … wow. (But no worries: it's just a half-our boat trip from the jetty and you'll be picked up by the staff.) Steve Khong, the generous host, and his great team made it all possible, from tours to hidden places (waterfalls, Rafflesia flowers, oran asli villages, wild elephants even) to simple but perfectly suited jungle cabins (with own shower and toilet) and the delicious local food (often prepared by Steve himself). Thank you, Alexandra & Andreas
This review is very late, but we have been meaning to catch up on our tripadvisor reviews for years and are now doing so! And our stay at Belum was too good to not write about it. We stayed in July 2015 and we cannot say how fantastic belum is. Steve is such a great host and we were treated to beautiful home cooked meals for our entire stay, whilst gazing out over the placid lake. His take on current affairs was fascinating and he taught us alot about the topical issues in modern day Malaysia. We swam, fished, kayaked and hiked (in the rainforest on the surrounding shores), what more could you ask for in a tropical paradise? Steve was also assisted by a number of staff who were lovely and so helpful. One man, in particular, was great but unfortunately we have forgotten his…
This review comes more than a year late....but hey better than never! In September 2016 we booked a 3d2n package here (we were on the way to Terengganu from Ipoh for a wedding, and wanted to break up the loooong journey); we had such a wonderful time. There's just something about the place that's so tranquil and calm. Great for getting away from everything. It's definitely exclusive because it's expensive and not many locals would pay to come, but I felt the price was justified because this place is so remote that transporting basic supplies (food etc) must surely cost a lot. The place is family-run and pretty rustic so don't expect 5-star service or amenities. The owner Steve was away while we were there; his son Tom and a family friend did a great job hosting us. They have a…
Greeted by a gecko when we first walked into the room. Tried to chase it away but couldn't find it. Called the reception and asked if I could change to a different room. The staff very accommodating and agreed to change the room. Very clean room and comfortable bed. Beautiful place and well designed.Had a very relaxing time. Food at the restaurant was ok but could be improved further.
A beautiful place to enjoy the nature. Possibility of doing trips to watch fauna and flora on the Belum National Park, where you could see (if you are lucky) elephants, birds, etc. Basic but comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff. Really recommendable.
