This review comes more than a year late....but hey better than never! In September 2016 we booked a 3d2n package here (we were on the way to Terengganu from Ipoh for a wedding, and wanted to break up the loooong journey); we had such a wonderful time. There's just something about the place that's so tranquil and calm. Great for getting away from everything. It's definitely exclusive because it's expensive and not many locals would pay to come, but I felt the price was justified because this place is so remote that transporting basic supplies (food etc) must surely cost a lot. The place is family-run and pretty rustic so don't expect 5-star service or amenities. The owner Steve was away while we were there; his son Tom and a family friend did a great job hosting us. They have a…
Greeted by a gecko when we first walked into the room. Tried to chase it away but couldn't find it. Called the reception and asked if I could change to a different room. The staff very accommodating and agreed to change the room. Very clean room and comfortable bed. Beautiful place and well designed.Had a very relaxing time. Food at the restaurant was ok but could be improved further.
A beautiful place to enjoy the nature. Possibility of doing trips to watch fauna and flora on the Belum National Park, where you could see (if you are lucky) elephants, birds, etc. Basic but comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff. Really recommendable.
It was very hot there on the first night but the water was freezing cold.Every evening me and My friends would go swimming. My father would go fishing every day but only caught two fish. The good was delicouse.Once a life time experience.Recommended to stay in bout house.
Special place with simple chalets on a private jungle island in Lake Temenggor. We had the place all to ourselves during our stay and enjoyed the peace and views over the lake. The surrounding forest is beautiful. Wildlife is around but hard to see. We saw 3 hornbill species, various other birds, a monitor lizard, a small dragon, lots of geckos, macaques and silver langurs, and otters, plus a variety of invertebrates. Unfortunately the owner's 3 (friendly) dogs and 1 cat have chased most of the wildlife off the island itself. The cruising/boat trips and jungle trekking/waterfall were very enjoyable, as was kayaking. We were disappointed by the "native village" tour- it basically consisted of a short walk up a paved road in the centre of a village that looked like many others in…
Having the opportunity to discover the malaysian rainforst and staying at the Belum Eco-Resort during two nights was a real chance. Steeve and his team are fascinating and teaches you a lot on the ecosystem, the country, the wildlife etc. Talking about the food, I think it is one of the best and simple food I've ever eaten. The small island where the lodge is alows you to see at 360° the beautiful forest, and if you're lucky, to can see Hornbills of the island (we were lucky :)...) Having the chance to travel worldwide, meeting people and discoreving great places is what we all seek.....well we weren't disapointed by this experience. Thank's to you Steeve and your team. Regards from Paris, FRANCE. Fred and Maud
We stayed there for 2 nights. The people were all very nice. The rooms were simple but clean with an own terrace and bathroom with a great view:) The food was very good as well. It is the perfect place to stay, do jungle trekking and do watersports on the quiet lake. Furthermore they try to raise awareness for environmental topics which I liked. If you got any questions you can always ask the staff which will explain to you. It feels more like a big family than a resort there.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Eco-Resort. We were picked up at the jetty at lunchtime and as well as our very informative and helpful host, Steve Khong, we met up with a party of keen Malaysian and Singaporean bird watchers who were also staying there. On the first evening we travelled by boat to an observation point to watch the flocks of hornbills flying over the lake, it was absolutely beautiful with the setting sun and the sparkling clear air. We returned to the lodge for a fantastic steamboat meal, with great company. The next day we did the guided Belum tour and the following day we visited the south Temenggor area, and we also swam in the lake and went kayaking. We didn't actually see any elephants but the walks to the salt licks through the rainforest on tracks…
We stayed there for 4 days and wished it would have been longer. It's a really special place in the middle of unfortunately endangered nature. Once you've been there you'll understand why it's worthy to protect it and keep it safe from any mass tourism and the industry. During our stay, Steve, Robert, Tom and his team showed us a lot of things. We liked the trips to the dschungle as much as the talks with them during lunch or dinner (food is great by the way!). We could see birds like hornbills, a lot of interesting plants and insects and hear (unfortunately not see) elephants. But even if you don't see so many animals, enjoying the sound of the dschungle is amazing. Especially when you're on a trip through malaysia with a lot of crowded citys this is the place where you can…
Steve and Tom Khong run this resort with a lot of passion and have assembled a great and very friendly team. This is a real family-run outfit with perhaps not as many amenities as you would expect of a premier resort, but it's very authentic, and you know and see exactly where the money you pay is going. We had a very enjoyable stay and many interesting and friendly conversations with Tom and Steve that gave us firsthand insights into the challenges faced by the Belum rainforest. It was probably beneficial that we spent four nights there and had the place almost to ourselves on two days in that we really had the feeling to have left as friends. We had a great time.
