WHO -- Sylvie, a proprietress interested only in our comfort and enjoyment Us, a recently retired active couple, looking for a home base in Provence WHAT -- a very private gite, set into a line of four built into an ancient barn across from the large Provençal farmhouse where Sylvie lives; two bedrooms, modern bath with nice shower, vanity, and...

Friendly Sylvie runs a top-notch collection of holiday gites just outside of Fontvieille (near Arles in Provence). The apartments are exceptionally attractive, clean, and quiet. The kitchens are well-equipped and the washrooms are modern and gorgeous. They're great for a family or for a romantic getaway. Nearby Fontvieille has all the conveniences: a supermarket, produce stand, restaurants, and more. A...

This is the second time we've stayed at this small Domaine, and we hope to return. There are about 7-8 apartments on the property. This place is great for families as there is lots of green space to run around, a good sized pool with a shallow end for the little guys, and it is very quiet at night. The...

We were extremely pleased to have discovered Sylvie’s lodging on her lovely vineyard and farm in Fontvieille. First, Sylvie and her mother, Marinette, were as sweet as could be. Marinette welcomed us and took me by the hand to show me the apartment; she was very patient with my broken French. The apartment was perfect for our family of four,...

Domaine de Laforest was a peaceful retreat for us as we traveled to Les Baux, Arles, St. Remy, Pont du Gard, and Avignon. All of these destinations were a short drive. Fontvieille itself was a pleasant village, with charming restaurants and patisseries. We rented e-bikes at Sun-E Bikes in St. Remy and rode a half day through the beautiful countryside....

We stayed off-season and found a sympathetically restored barn which is situated in the perfect location to visit Arles, the Camargue, the Alpilles, the Pont du Gard and other places further afield. Our gite was comfortable, warm and homely and the proprietor bent over backwards to see that we had everything that we needed. Excellent vineyards, olive oil producers and...

My husband and I have stayed at this gite at least four times over the last several years. Proprietress Sylvie and her dear mother are the essence of hospitality. The grounds are beautiful and spacious. Imagine rice fields, an orchard, garden, sunflower field, etc. The decor of the gite is authentically Provencal and very tasteful. We used Fontvieille as a...

My wife and I found La Domaine through Rick Steves' book on Provence. It was a wonderful place to stay - very close to many of the destinations we had planned to visit. It is just minutes from Avignon and Arles and very peaceful. It is also very modern with up-to-date appliances and wifi. We adore Sylvie and would recommend...

We stayed here for a week in May 2013. The gite is well located – about an hour to Chateauneuf, a half hour to Avignon TGV, and 15 minutes to Arles with plenty of local attractions. Marseille airport is about an hour drive. Fontvieille is nice too. The unit we stayed in was quiet, clean, neat and modern. Sylvie was...

This gite was chosen because it was only an hour from Marseille airport where we flew into. The Gite was an excellent choice - clean, lots of space and only a 10 minute drive into Arles. It was slightly difficult to locate on arrival, but only because I didn't follow my GPS through Arles. Other reviewers have complained about the...
