I have stayed at Cacharel many times for both short and extended periods. It matches no place on earth for retaining simplicity, tranquility, elegance and all wrapped up with a sense of privileged insight into wonder past. Cacharel is more than a hotel, it is a way of life. It is true to itself and it encourages the guest back...

We stayed here for three nights and it was perfect. It's not flash but simple and understated with amazing views across the marshes with the white horses and flamingoes. The views alone are worth it. There is an observation ledge which is worthwhile going up at sunrise and sunset to get a beautiful panorama. It is quiet and sitting in...

Where else in the world can you peer out the window upon waking and catch a flock of flamingos on their morning stroll. The rustic Hotel de Cacherel is the perfect perch from which to take in the Camargue, that charmed refuge of white horses, black bulls and pink flamingos where the river Rhone fans out into the Mediterranean. A...

This hotel is a nature lovers dream as it situated on a protected marsh (nature park/resrve) where flamingoes frolic and wild horses graze. It is serene, authentic and unspolied wilderness at its best. The room is spotless and the owners are extremely helpful and provide maps and advice as where to visit and eat. The flies are a meanace and...

If you have a car this is a perfect place to head to- would definitely recommend. The location is amazing, we could see flamingos from our window and it has a really nice chilled vibe. However it's a bit tricky to get to if you don't have a car - a 15EUR taxi from the town, which is fine! There's...

The town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is basically the only sensible option for overnight accommodation in the Camargue area of France, and yet is it devoid of quality hotels - indeed of hotels overall, as evidenced by the plague of motor-caravans scattered in their hundreds around the edge in dedicated parking areas. What there is in Stes Maries is not inspiring, but...

I've been coming to this place since the 1970's; it feels like home. Nestled in a corner of the natural park, Cacharel has a long and proud heritage. The owner has kept the hotel's history alive, while improving it at the same time. It's a no frills hotel, but as close to nature as you can get. A perfect place...

We spend a lovely 2 nights on the farm and just enjoying the stars at night, sounds of the flamingoes, swans and horses. If you are in search of great birdlife and quiet peaceful bliss in the Camargue this is the place to go. We had a lovely room with a safe and it was cool during hottest part of...

We stayed at the Hotel de Cacharel for five nights and found it to be a magical experience. In the heart of the Camargue, surrounded by pastures and wetland, we felt transported to a different age. Its owner, M. Colomb de Daunant, is deeply committed to preserving the culture of his region and to making a stay at his mas...

I will repeat what others have written: this is a magical place in the south of France. "Cowboy country," as it were. The hotel is rustic, quaint, a total get-away from big cities. We came through here for one night while biking through Provence with Discovery Bike Tours and it was fun to trade the bike for two hours on...
