We came upon La Chapelle d'Abandance because it is on the GR 5 hiking trail through the French Alps. After walking eight hours and still not to town, we hitched a ride with people we met at Chalets de Bise, a popular dairy farm high in the mountains where people go to watch the cows come home in the afternoon,... Right in the centre of the village this was a delightful venue for our family lunch. The food was very well prepared and served on a beautiful terrace above the main road. The whole experience on a warm summers day could not have been better. The staff and overall ambiance were of a very high standard. We shall look forward... More

Stopped here for an evening meal during a long distance walk with a large group of friends, despite giving short notice the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful and all local dishes. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food and service received.

We had an awful shock when we went in, we thought our beloved Les Cornettes had been gutted and modernised. Only when we left did we realise that the Cornettes was still there next door. To be fair this is an excellent hotel but unashamedly modern and smart. It is owned by the same family as next door and is... More

We have just stayed for a long weekend at this hotel. Everything and I mean everything was perfect from the moment we were greeted by the staff to the room and restaurant. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff and it made our trip very special. The restaurant was of a very high standard and the hotel facilities were... More

We went on a skiing trip during half term, couldn't get into anywhere actually in Chatel so turned to Chapel de Abondance. It's 10 mins drive from the main slopes in Chatel, but also has it's own small selection too. The hotel was excellent, rooms were lovely and modern (we had a suite for 2 x adults and one munchkin).... More

Stayed for 4 nights 7-11 January 2014 half board. The welcome, room, food and location were all excellent. Lots of lovely homely touches in the hotel. Pool, steam room and jacuzzi all spotless and great to use at the end of a long day out walking in the snow (we did not ski). Excellently placed for chairlifts and the ski... More

A well run family hotel with lots of wonderful French tradition. The eye for detail is first rate. Everything appeared to be newly refurbished, the rooms were comfortable, warm and clean serviced daily. The food was just fantastic, wonderful buffet breakfast to keep us going for the ski day ahead. Evening meals were some of the best I have eaten.... More
