The first point of note is to mention the exceptional staff who run this hotel, from welcome through to departure; nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile and professionalism. Petula the resident Frenchy also provides a warm welcome and an invitation to play. A relatively new hotel with exceptional facilities, including spa; central location in an authentic French ski village. Suitable for skiers and non-skiers. We ate dinner in the hotel twice and the staff secured restaurant options for 12 (challenging) on other nights. Perhaps a daily special in the hotel restaurant would be good for those wanting variety. Breakfast was an extra cost of €19 p/p daily, perhaps not the best value, €15 more so, but a good selection on offer and again attentive staff. There is also a great cafe with lots to tempt. Our group had six hotel rooms including two suites. All exceptional. Rooms are individually designed and therefore differ in shape and size but not amenity. The suite is worth the extra spend if the additional space is important. ...and there is a lot of space! Apartments also available but didn't suit our group. The hotel shuttle is available to the lift station, but we used the Ski Rental close by and stored equipment, therefore happy to make the walk of less than 10 minutes. There is also a road train runs around the village collecting skiers. A point of comment: dealing with the central booking department, there was lots of emails back and forth to be sure I was confident in the rooms I was booking. I was then given a Guest login which I thought was to be used to provide additional information direct to the hotel, but it didn't work too well. Eventually a direct email was more fruitful eg, room configurations (twins/double, etc). I have nothing negative to say about the hotel, although part of a huge Group, it has a family run feel, which can only be attributed to Sidney's (apologies if wrongly spelt) leadership and her amazing staff. I highly recommend.

We stayed at the Alexane in March 2021 and we enjoyed our visit so much so have just booked again for March 2023. I thought I would respond to the comments of the previous poster, which in my opinion were totally unfair. Who on earth books to stay in a busy ski resort at half term expecting the hotel to magically arrange last minute bookings on their behalf and are then blame the hotel rather than themselves when everywhere is full? Either email the hotel well in advance or better still book them yourself. With regard to hanging space in wardrobes this is also absolute tosh. I think some people just like to moan for the sake of it.

The place is nice, good location, the apartment has a tasteful furnishing and is well appointed but there is nil service. We stayed for a week, we somehow expected that for the price there would at least be enough toilet rolls and bathroom amenities to last the week. We are far from blown away by this residence, it was fine for a week but nothing will be memorable.

So, first of all, this hotel is lovely to look at. The family suites are good and the shared facilities are excellent. That’s where the good news ends. This is the single least obliging hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Lots of small issues with service which all added up. As an example, we asked the hotel to book us into restaurants for each night of our stay at the same time each evening. They managed to make just one booking but at the wrong time (we stayed for a week). We asked them to cancel as we’d managed to book a restaurant ourselves at a more suitable time, but they didn’t bother - cue angry calls from the restaurant. Given that this a hotel where families typically stay for whole weeks, the facilities in the room were completely inadequate. The room was freezing when we arrived. When we called reception to ask how to use the controls they said they’d do it from there. Why didn’t they do that and warm the room up before we arrived? You can order croissants for the morning to be collected from reception but there are no plates or cutlery in the family suites. When we asked for these things we were told by a staff member that she’d have to ask the manager. There is no corkscrew or wine glasses in the rooms. In France. The ski shuttles closes from 11-3:15. Even for France, that’s taking lunch to extremes. No child reachable shelves only hanging space - we had to live out of our suitcases on the floor of our room. On our second day we ran out of toilet paper and had to ring reception for more. They brought one roll. For 2 toilets. They did not replenish the 2 lonely coffee pods we got on arrival. I had to ask for fresh towels and sheets which we got only once during our stay. There was no milk provided for the 2 coffees we were allocated. The TVs are not internet enabled and you can’t connect your own devices. Not getting us into restaurants was a fairly major issue at half-term. We were (overly) encouraged to use the hotel restaurant. On our first evening we did eat there but we waited one hour and twenty minutes for mediocre pasta. Not great when you are trying to feed your tired and hungry children. The table next waited even longer for their dinner. Apart from that, our issues were all small but left us with the overall impression of a very poorly run hotel. Perhaps it is a staff training issue; perhaps they just don’t care. We have been better looked after in hotels costing half as much. There is also a very strange and off-putting smell in the lobby and games room in the basement. It was only in those areas so was perhaps the house fragrance but I found it very unpleasant. Also, there is a resident dog permanently to be found in the lobby. Cute for the kids but not great if you’re allergic.

Modern clean spacious apartment. Staff was very friendly and helpful, couldn’t not fault their service. Lots of kitchen equipment provided wine fridge, coffee machine ( can buy capsules from reception) and additional equipment available from reception such as waffle maker and fondue. Can also get a DVD player if required Great to be provided with wash up kit with , dish cloths , washing up liquid, dish washer and tea towels. Wellness area was lovely , good size pool plus hot tub, steamer, sauna and plunge pool. Apartment is in a great location, underground car park is very secure all accessed with pin code.

We have just returned from what was planned as a one week stay at Residence Alexane. We arrived on Saturday 14th March to a beautifully appointed 2 bedroom apartment, to find out 2 hours later that all restaurants, cafes and the Grand Massif were to close. The residence is excellent, the facilities are superb, spotlessly clean and perfect for families (the pool and sensory showers will keep kids well amused!). Samoens itself is a beautiful village and we hope to return to experience it properly. Because of the lockdown and closure of the French border in response to Covid 19, we left after 3 nights. Even in what must be very difficult circumstances, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful and notably there was no suggestion of us being made to leave. This was not the case in all of the local accommodation, we met other families who were made to leave with no notice. Thanks to all at Residence Alexane, we wish you the best and hope to return next year.

We stayed here for 8 nights. Overall it was a good hotel. Nicely decorated, location is good (close to restaurants and shops), reception staff is nice and helpful, room is big enough for 2 people, warm and comfortable but they need to improve daily room cleaning service. Windows and mirrors were not clean properly. Dust everywhere. And they washed the glasses and cups in the bathroom. It was disgusting. The spa and pool area was wonderful. Also check in time is 5pm. It is too late. And breakfast was so basic. Very limited and no varieties. Coffee from thermos, no fresh squeezed juices, no omelette. I was expecting better breakfast service from that much nice hotel.

Amazing accommodation. Excellent games room and pool area. Children loved both. Very friendly staff. Didn’t have breakfast there but went to patisserie 5 mins walk. Had a problem with our suite which was quickly and professionally resolved and we were moved. The standard overall of this hotel was excellent. Only slight criticism was that after a long journey we arrived for the 5pm check in and the room was not ready so had to wait for the room to be cleaned and didn’t get settled until 6. When you set a check in as late at 5pm and check out is 11am then not sure what went wrong here really. Otherwise all amazing and Samoens beautiful. Underground car park great plenty of room for car and top box.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the tail end of August. We loved it - our room, a two bedroom suite, was huge with an upstairs! The pool area was wonderful with a large outdoor terrace to soak up the sun and the views of the mountains. As it is brand new there are a few niggles like the dishwasher and heated towel rails not working yet and some of the electrics had been put in wrong (i.e the buttons for the showers were the wrong way round). I am sure these will all be ironed out in time though. Our daughters loved the games room and we also took a peek into the cinema room which looked awesome! Samoens itself is a beautiful little town and we were lucky enough to be there for the end of summer concert featuring an Irish pipe ensemble. Very random but lovely and also a fitting reminder of how much we in England stand to loose from the stupidity of Brexit. A few suggestions for improvements: a bbq area for self caterers (or even better has bbqs on the balcony like they have in all the Canadian resorts) and an outdoor hot tub on the terrace!
