Perfect place for lunch! with the sun out and away from the crowds this place serves great food with a homely service. We could not find anywhere better so we went three times in one week. Great for families too with room for kids to play outside while you enjoy a glass!
As a family we are going there almost every week end since it’s opening. The food is good but mostly Philippe and Judith have managed over the years to create a very unique friendly atmosphere by hiring unique people. We enjoy our visits every time.
What a find this place was. 14 of us on a skiing trip is difficult when looking for a place to eat but somebody mentioned this place and we thought we would give it a go We ate outside on the first day with the sun beaming down on our backs. The views were incredible. The second visit was inside as it was snowing and it was very comfortable with plenty of space for a lot of ski jackets! Very friendly staff who even had a quick shot with us at the end of the meal. Decent menu and the food was lovely especially the plate of the day. Chicken burger was very good as well and all very reasonably priced. If you're in the area I would highly recommend stopping by for lunch
Excellent chalet, ski in, ski out; amazing views. Friendly owners and staff, comfortable rooms. I stayed here for a short break with friends in early January, the location is fantastic with amazing views down across the valley below, Philippe the owner is a wonderful friendly guy. The chalet is a 10 minute drive up from Samoens village.
About 8 of us descended at the restaurant for a late lunch at 2pm expecting to be turned away but in fact we were welcomed and offered the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. I had the burger which was fab. The chicken burger was also good. Others had tartiflet, salads and specials: they were all great. Portion sizes are just perfect - a small bucket of chips with the burger was perfect - so often food is wasted with over large portions but not here. Service was absolutely with a smile. Go. It’s a great place slightly off the beaten track.
Warm welcome. Excellent value. Best vegetarian lasagne ever with charming service. Portion was huge (twice the size expected) with a nice side salad for 15 euro. Others enjoyed tartiflette, menu de jour 24 euro for timbale of fish and mushrooms, navarin of Lamb and crème brûlée.
Big rooms. Great views. Ultimate ski in and ski out (10 metres to the piste!). Great food. Friendly bar. Excellent wine list. Service superb. Highly recommended. And the Grand Massif ski area is world class.
Amazing place The hospitality and friendliness shown by Philippe and his partner was incredible Food is wholesome, traditional and tasty Rooms are spacious and comfortable Ski in and out makes it easy The chalet sits on the edge of a mountain with beautiful views into the valley
An excellent meal. Authentic, hearty and very tasty Alpine food presented well and a great experience. Generous portions, and a generous host too. Above all, excellent value for such good quality food. Set menu today (3 courses) was a mozzarella and tomato salad, lemon chicken with lentils and courgettes, and a terrific tarte tatin. All for 22 euros which is as good as anywhere in the mountain. I believe the owner/manager/boss man Stefan used to own/run the Chalet de Gers, which was a similarly great establishment some years ago but was highly dependent on weather and snow. Highly recommended.
I have stayed at L'Aero a number of times with friends and more recently with my family. The owner, Philippe, and his team really looked after us on each occasion. The Chalet enjoys a great location with stunning views, and ski in / ski out access (perhaps not ski out for beginners?). The accommodation is cosy and the rooms tidy and clean. Love the food and the relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit!
