My husband and I are just back from a fantastic 5 night stay at Villa Rose. We had such a wonderful time. The hotel was beautiful, tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. On arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Daniel and Marion who were delightful hosts and made sure we had a brilliant stay. The breakfasts in the morning were superb, the freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious. We had dinner 3 nights at the Villa. Daniel, the chef, prepared such flavoursome and fantastic meals, he really is a brilliant chef. Marion was extremely helpful and took great care of us throughout our stay. The location of Villa Rose is great, it is only seconds walk from the lovely shops and restaurants in Samoens and there are so many beautiful hikes in the area to choose from with stunning scenery all round. We stayed in the Champagne Room, it was lovely and the bed was so comfortable. We would love to come back and visit during ski season too. Thank you very much for a great holiday!!!

Lovely villa with a great concept. Chef, staff, jacuzzi and ski support of your own. The service is very personalised. Food was amazing, a great weekend getaway.

The villa is very close to the ski drop off area. Transport is easily arranged by the villa for pick up to and from at anytime.

We stayed at the Chocolate room, were welcomed with a glass of champagne, had three-course dinner and a fabulous breakfast. English-speaking staff made all the effort to make us comfortable. We felt from the first moment till the very last one like the royals. The design amazes, from oustide and from inside. The little things (like the "honest bar", the salon, a common table for breakfast, great, thought-through menu, perfect wine, etc.) like cherries on top of a scrumptious cake. Overall, a fantastic, truly unforgettable experience.

The rooms are luxurious and the food and service are excellent.

We stayed one night in the Chocolate room, and dined at the hotel. Check-in was quick and easy and followed by a welcome glass of champagne which we enjoyed on the balcony.

Dinner was excellent with a well-paired wine chosen by the hosts: mushroom stroganoff, a palate cleanser, steak, and dessert, all cooked in the kitchen inside the dining room. A post prandial stroll around Samoëns (dead quiet on a Sunday night) then the very comfy bed.

Breakfast was again excellent - a selection of cold dishes: yoghurt, croissant/pain au chocolat, fruit - and a choice of hot dishes - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, crepes, Eggs Benedict, and something with asparagus (:-) - we both had the very nice salmon and eggs.

Service at dinner and breakfast (and check-in/out) were flawless.

Check-out was also painless - having pre-paid and not having had anything from the honesty bar it was simply a matter of saying bonjour and lugging the bags downstairs.

Parking is on the property and is plentiful. The villa is a stone's throw from the centre ville and looks divine both inside and out, though if you suffer from bovinophobia you may not enjoy the recurring cow motif.

Everyone was/spoke English so no language barrier here for us.

While in Samoëns be sure to stroll through the Maison de la Jaysinia botanic garden - fascinating and beautiful. And ride up Joux Plane! :-)

Delightful weekend spent in the capable hands of the team from Villa Rose.

Imaginative culinary options from our private chef, succulent pork cheeks no less...
Very capable hands of the hard working and attentive masseuse, to the tips of the toes...
The constant and infectious good cheer of our waitress - frankly remarkable ...
Personalized and pertinent research for our different activity wishes and a sincere desire to do it all right.

We spent the sunniest weekend in a long time.... Even though it rained throughout!

Really really good !

What a wonderful experience in Samoens. As a return guest to this marvelous gem of a boutique hotel, I can only say that it is a small little sliver of heaven amidst the towering Gran Massif mountain range. First of all is the overall look of the hotel, beautifully furnished with amazing attention to detail. My room had a great view of the mountains, and I slept in downy comfort through the quiet night.
Dan the chef made the eating an experience in itself, from wonderful appetizers to a four-course meal and champagne that is just the perfect ending to a long day on the slopes. The breakfast was delicious and enough to keep me going through the day. The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and couldn't do enough to ensure my comfort.
A big bonus is the walk in ski room with boot heaters and places to leave your ski gear so that you don't have to keep it in your room. Being right in town made it very easy to slip out and do a bit of shopping without having to drive anywhere.
This would be a perfect venue for a large extended family to have a wonderful vacation, or a solo traveler like myself as I met some really fantastic folks while I was staying there. A perfect getaway, thank you Villa Rose!!

This small and beautifully formed hotel is a wonderful place to stay - having transformed a run down house in the middle of Samoens village, the Villa Rose team create a truly luxurious, peaceful experience.
The attention to detail in every room is clear to see. A real design eye has been cast across the whole place; beautiful furnishings, hugely comfortable seating and beds, finishing touches of thick fluffy towels and every day in room treats. Even the boot room has been designed for comfort and style!
Dan, Lucy and Selina absolutely made our stay. The fire always roaring, great cuisine was prepared right in front of you by Dan with complete flexibility on timings for breakfast and supper - working around the adventures we had planned for the day.
An exceptional place.
Thank you Villa Rose

Treat yourself, you won't be sorry. All the comfort of your own home ... yet so much more. We stayed at VR for 5 nights in 2 spotlessly clean, Frette linen bedecked, stylishly finished rooms in a wonderful period home. Though not at all my own taste, the owner's attention to detail won me over. I'm talking about the sheer delight of a perfectly stocked kitchen and I mean perfect - beautiful expresso demi-tasses as well as EXCELLENT coffee. Apple TV and an outstanding library of films. Laundry facilities perfect for muddy post rafting kids' clothes! The owner's obvious care has clearly rubbed off on the staff. Selena and Sam were exceptionally kind, attentive yet unobtrusive. Overhearing our sometimes fussy pants daughter decline the FRESHLY SQUEEZED OJ because of the pulp, Selena literally silently strained the juice for her. See what I mean about just like home but BETTER? I didn't mention breakfast but it is sensational. Elegantly presented, perfectly proportioned. Evian each morning and evening, bedside. And the beds? Firm yet plush, brushed cotton sheets, fluffy pillows. Exactly what's required after a day's mountain biking, parapenting, hiking, rafting or canyoning.

How to improve this excellent Samoens abode? Difficult. Here are three suggestions:

1. A library with books about the region, history, hiking paths, gastronomy. This lifts this from a design and boutique hotel for tourists to a discreet yet luxurious choice for discerning travelers.

2. A dossier of suggestions from the host in a visitors book of the owner's best suggestions for dining, best hikes, guides for rafting, canyoning, etc together with a programmer of the events going on each week. Easily gotten from tourist office but soooo much nicer to pore over with a glass of wine in the cosy living room of VR.

3. Basement rooms. These are dark. No problem for us because in summer they are core and better for sleeping. One improvement could be a blackout blind since the parking lot lights permeate the room even at night. Not a big deal but an easy fix I'd have thought. Especially considering the owner's attention to detail extends even to matching toilet paper...

4. Gardener - ask him not show up before 9am. And certainly not before 7.30am! Ditto the laundry.

But these are details. The care and charm of the staff and their obvious delight in their patron and hers in this endeavour outweigh everything else. I'm certain that though we'd very much like to visit again, Villa Rose, will and should be totally fully booked. Congratulations and thank you for a lovely stay.

What a find! We stayed at this newly renovated villa in the heart of Samoens last week and what a perfect experience from start to finish. We were greeted at the door and made to feel at home by Selina, and she showed us into a wonderful bedroom with a full bath. The room was spotless with great amenities, and the bed was so comfortable after a day on the slopes. Our chef, Pedro, made a delicious salmon dinner for us with a fabulous chocolate mousse for dessert, with wine and cheese in the lounge after dinner. The ski bus is right outside the front gate and we were on the slopes for some great spring skiing in no time. It was a great location for us as we had a friend that is not a skier, so she spent the afternoon wandering the shops in Samoens. Less than an hour from the Geneva airport, Villa Rose was a great find. We will definitely be back next year.

Answer from Villa R
Samoens, France
Hello Amy, we work closely with a ski shop in Samoens who has free lockers available in Samoens 1600 where you can leave your equipment overnight. We can prearrange your lift passes and advise on the right pass for you however we are unable to offer a discount. Grand Massif ski area is not linked to the Portes du Soleil area however with 5 linked resorts and 148 pistes there is plenty to keep you busy during your stay here.
