Rooms where clean, large, beds are good for a good nights sleep. Bathroom was clearly designed from the 70's. Overall an solid room, however the prices at 110,- for 3 people was a bit steep. Breakfast quality is more on the low end.
I use this hotel as a midway stop as I go down to and return from southern Germany. I've stayed here several times. It's family run and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Helga is an anglophile who holidays in Cornwall and has excellent English. Her brother, the cook, also has good English. The rooms are clean and pleasant, and the thick walls and double glazing keep out the train noise (unavoidable if you are staying anywhere on this stretch of the Rhine - railways run down both sides). The food is quite simply excellent. The family source top quality ingredients and I've rarely had a better schnitzel. The fact the the restaurant is full with locals eating out on Saturday nights attests to their quality. Breakfasts are the usual top quality German cold collations with plenty of choice and great coffee. And of course .... the view - wonderful. This time I was on a motorcycling tour with a friend who didn't know Germany. We stayed here as a base as we did all the tourist things, He was chuffed to bits with the hotel, the welcome, the food and the Rhine. I'll be back in September.…
Brilliantly stunning well worth a visit exceptional views of the Rhine and the Loreley Rock ! Beautiful to sit by river and see boats passing by ! Hotel is welcoming and all meals were enjoyable and plentiful! Perfect for anyone.
We had dinner here one evening and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The decor is dated but the very large restaurant was busy and customers seemed happy with their meals and the pleasant embience.
Driving on the B9, getting hungry, I was looking for a place to get a lunch. In that area you find poor shops for a snack, but better restaurants normally are not directly at the road. Suddenly in St. Goar I saw this place. Although supposing it serves mainly tourist buses, which is not supposing fine food I decided for a stop and a small lunch. First surprise was: the service wasn't very fast (like the restaurants for tourist buses would be). Second, the food was really very good: Absolutely fresh "Pfifferling" chanterelle mushrooms, with fine smell in a perfect sauce. Whow! Just did not expect this! And sitting on a terrace viewing the old Loreley Rock at the river Rhine, ships passing by... If you have time, really the right place for a stop.
Nice hotel with kind staff. We have stayed one night in our way to Koblenz. The room was spacious and clean with a wonderful view to the Loreleyblick and the Rhine. Parking was free and the Wi-fi too (the connection was a little bit too lazy). The breakfast was excelent and various. At the restaurant they had fine and big portions of meal at reasonable price. The only negative thing is the missing of the A/C and in summer nights with open windows it's a little bit too noisy (especially when the trains ar passing behind the hotel). In my opinion it is a good hotel, I can recommend it.
Clean and comfortable hotel, good views of the Lorelei Rock-that is if you want to stand looking at it all day,-Breakfast good standard -unfortunately,a good walk into St.Goar, not much their when you arrive in St.Goar.
Very nice and clean hotel run by extremely kind people. Good food and a lovely view on the river Rhine. No parking problem but WIFI could be better. Ideal for a few days visit of the valley. Teus van Setten Monza Italia.
Wonderful hotel run by the Gartner family, free WiFi, free parking, cable TV and great location for touring the area. Directly across the river is the Lorelei rock. The breakfast room is large and has a wide assortment of breakfast items to choose from. The restaurant also has excellent food. Our large room was very clean and quiet.
Clean, Excellent Staff, Fair Prices for Europe, Quiet. We stayed here at the end of July. This wasn't our first pick coming into town, but we're really happy we settled on this place. It's far enough out of town that it's a little more quiet and you also don't have as much of a back packing crowd(not that I have anything against back packers). I can speak German, but the lady at the front desk spoke excellent English, so that will be a big help to any of you who aren't so fluent. The breakfast meals were excellent(as most are in Germany). We also had a nice quality supper. Our room was on the second level near the hotel entrance. Just 2 of us travelling and the room was big enough for our needs. Clean with very clean bathroom. No A/C so you had to keep your windows open. It was mid summer and in the 80's during the day, but cooled off nicely at night. Do stay away from the upper levels of this place during summer as it was definitely warmer in those rooms when we were checking things out and I doubt it would cool as quickly there. Traffic noise is a bit of an issue as it is for most places along the Rhine. The main highway goes right by the motel. Really it slows down a lot at night and the only irritation were some racing cars early in the morning. Would not have noticed them if the windows were shut. The scenery is wonderful and you are located at one of the more notable bends in the Rhine river. Amazing to see the traffic that goes up and down that river. I live near the Mississippi in the Midwest in the USA and frankly the Rhine seemed a bit small relative to what I'm used to, but it is still a pretty neat river. Hard to beat all the old castles, vineyards and ancient towns you find along this stretch. There is a campground located between the hotel and the river, but it sits quite a bit lower so you really don't notice it. German campers are very quiet relative to their American cousins. This is a nonissue in my book if your questioning if you should stay here or not based on this. Enjoy your trip and stay!…
