Sunday morning at the breakfast buffet when the canton of Valais had imposed masks as from that day in bars and restaurants, stipulating that unless sitting at the tables masks were obligatory, clients were strolling around without masks, sharing bread knives, serving spoons, lifting lids...etc. We ended up drinking our coffee served at the table by a masked waiter and left.
I realize that guests should be more responsible but surely it is in the interest of the hotel staff to firmly and clearly state that masks are mandatory on top of disinfecting hands, social distancing etc.
so as not to become the next hot spot and avoid further closing. We checked out with staff still not masked. Hopefully since the Conseil Federal’s announcement a few hours later these problems will be fixed.
On a more positive note the massages at the spa were lovely and the professional competent employees wore their masks when asked.
Not normally negative but think that preventive measures are the way to go to maintain tourism in lovely places.
But what’s worst is by far is the restaurant: the food is frankly bad and I felt awful seeing my parents suffering because they needed to go out to external restaurants just to have something decent even if they are old and tired.
And the cherry on the cake? My mom asked for a camomille tea at the bar after dinner. The barman offered to bring it upstairs because she was tired. And charged 27CHF for it.
It’s only perk is that it’s conveniently located, and the Italian staff is friendly and nice, but if you are looking for a 5 star hotel, I would advise you to avoid.
It’s an absolute never again for us.
The hotel is very old - not modernised the carpets are more than worn - all in all the time and cleanliness has stopped 30 years ago. The rooms are not even 1 star.
The service in the restaurant is not good is not trained.
The breakfast is a disaster.
The prices are just a rip-off.
Amazing marble bathroom with double basin, jacuzzi and separate shower.
Spend time in the pool and gym and relaxed 100%!
"I stayed in a room facing the entrance to the hotel - I imagine rooms facing the gardens and golf course offer a much nicer view"Read full review
"Rooms with view on the back (golf course) are quieter. Ambiguous distribution of room surface / quality / location with respect to what is mentioned in the booking documents."Read full review
