The place is great and has an amazing view. The staff were great and accommodating. And the services they provide were good as well. It’s a great place to get away from the busy cities and they are very environmentally conscious. However, I think the best time to visit will be during the winter season.

This was our first visit to a Six Senses Property. I am not certain we will return.

Positive features:
1. The room was stunning and the facilities (spa, fitness center, etc.) are top notch.
2. Dinner at Byakko our first night was lovely.

Issues during our stay:
We used the six senses app for most communication. This was generally good but things were challenging on our last day.
1. We went to the outdoor pool in the afternoon but no one came to bring towels or check on us.
2. We went to dinner and were surprised no one turned down the room despite having the housekeeping sign on.
3. We asked for a ride home after dinner but got no response and ended up walking back.

None of these issues are dealbreakers but at this price point I do not expect issues.

Dear Curious, Thank you very much for taking the time to rate your experience at Six Senses Crans-Montana. Feedback such as yours is essential for a young property like ours to continuously work on improving our service levels. I have reached out to you separately to follow up on the different lapses of service that you experienced and that are definitely not up to our standards. We hope you will give us a second chance to show you your unsatisfactory stay was an exception. Sincerely,

Bike wrote a review Sept 2023

This is a new build that just opened in March. It is in a very convenient location next to a ski run/bike road (so it is ski-in ski-out and bike-in bike-out). It is also just above and an easy walk to the Cry d’Er Gondola and Crans. It appears (I don’t know) that there were design challenges fitting it into its location, which may account for some of the comments below.

The facilities are obviously quite new and modern. The lobby, restaurants, and rooms are open and airy - very modern combined with mountain traditional and outdoor themes. The rooms are large, comfortable and well-equipped. The bathroom is large (although the tub being in the center looks cool it is a bit in the way). Our room (and the rooms on our side of the hotel over a number of floors) have large terraces and full window walls. The views aren’t great, though - overlooking the ski run/gravel road and the side of a hill. It appears for a view you need to stay in one of the residences (there is a rental program) or perhaps a suite on the top floors.

The staff is outstanding (though they seem a bit inexperienced, as to be expected for a new hotel). They were very friendly and helpful all through the hotel. The Guest experience Manager (GEM) greeted us upon arrival and helped with any arrangements. The activity staff (downstairs at the ski/bike area) were incredibly helpful in discussing activities and directing us how to get where we wanted to go (such as the easy access from the hotel to the Bisse du Ro hiking trail - an absolute must-do). The hotel provides lift ticket cards at a much lower cost than the ticket window rack rate, which is very convenient. The spa staff was excellent, including the massage therapists The spa facilities are huge, with an indoor/outdoor pool, relaxation areas, a variety of saunas, steam, etc., both coed as well as individual ones in each of the locker rooms. The indoor/outdoor pool is integral to the spa facilities ; the only drawback is that it is below grade so the outdoor potion of the pool is only semi-outdoor (there are no views - if you are looking for a great view of the mountains ala Hotel Mont Blanc in Chamonix, you will be sorely disappointed). There is a separate outdoor pool on the 5th (lobby) floor which is not connected to the spa. It’s location seems a bit odd other than that may have been the only place they could put it.

There is free transportation to he Violette gondola in Montana, from where you can ride to the base of the tram to the top and to the glacier. From Violette there is also a free bus to reach the Bisse du Tsittoret trailhead - another great hike with waterfalls (the free bus runs all through Crans-Montana, to the Cry d’Er as well).

Be warned - there is no AC (in the interest of sustainability I guess) or other air circulation system (or ceiling fan) and it was in the mid to high 80’s while we were there. The room was very hot (the window walls which face west didn’t help) and sleeping was very difficult. We asked for a fan (Dyson) which was the only way we could sleep at all. We had to close the blackout shades during the afternoon or we would have really roasted. We initially had to keep them closed at night because the outside lights were on all night - then we couldn’t get any of the cooler night air; we finally ended up sleeping with eye masks so we could open the doors and shades. While this probably is not a problem 90% of the year, it certainly was for us and I expect this will just get worse with global warming. While many older buildings in the mountains don’t have AC, this was a new build and they should have anticipated the higher temperatures we are dealing with.

Six Senses is not inexpensive, as expected, but they this one managed to still nickel and dime. When we arrived early our room was not ready (as we expected). We decided to ride the Cry d’Er to take a look around The GEM provided the lift cards and asked if we would like a bottle of water (especially given the heat). We of course said yes and the GEM gave us a nice metal water bottle (not a Hydro Flask, but decent) full of cold water. We thought that was a very nice and thoughtful welcome gift. After we returned from the gondola we had lunch. The meal was excellent - very creative with well-blended flavors. It wasn’t cheap, but this is Switzerland. They advertised the local wine on a chalkboard so we decided to have a glass. The pour was maybe 2 ounces if I am being generous. I thought at first it was a tasting pour, but that was the pour. CHF 15 for 2 ounces form a bottle I could buy at the store for CHF 20 is a bit ridiculous. We never ate at the hotel again -we like a glass of wine with our meal and we didn’t want to order three glasses to get one. Then the check-out - when i looked at the bill i had a CHF 40 charge for an unreturned water bottle and a CHF 20 charge for unreturned lift ticket cards (a deposit i guess - we paid for the use of the cards). No one ever told us any of these needed to be returned so this was rather a surprise. We scrounged around and found two of the cards (they did forgive the charge for the other two). The water bottle was already packed in our luggage in the car, which was at the garage entrance on the ground floor. The front desk individual followed us down there so he could get the bottle back and so I wouldn’t have to go back upstairs with it (considerate I thought). We had to pull the luggage out of the car and dig through it to find the bottle. Finally we found it and gave it back; we were about to head out when we received our thank you gift for staying there. These are usually small but nice items like a local jam, salts, chocolate, etc. Here they put a cheap string bracelet on our wrists that may have cost 5 cents. I imagine it must have had some mystic significance which we missed; we took them off as soon as we drove off and later threw them away.

Six Senses Douro this was not.

Good morning, First of all I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review about your stay. The team and I learned a lot from this review and will make sure to implement more procedures to make sure we improve on our level of service. I was informed about the issued of the water bottles and gondola tickets. This was definitely a miscommunication on our part and we will make sure to properly communicate on this with our guests moving forward. I sincerely hope that you will give us a second chance and stay with us again so we can show you our improvement and that your unsatisfactory stay was an exception. I remain available for any questions or comments you may have. Sincerely,

Regretfully our GPS couldn't find the way to the hotel. It just happened that the local municipality had decided to do some work on the Rte des Telepheriques and it was closed to traffic. When I made the reservation I was not advised of this difficulty.! Thanks to a telephone call to the hotel and some instructions, we finally made it along the Rte de Plans Mayens and we ended up in a dark, cave like entrance. WOW! The first impression was quite negative. But then, we were greeted by a very cordial bell-boy who took care of our car and also by our personal assistant, Raffaela , who guided us to our suite. And after that verything changed! Yes, we still had to put up with some noise and dust because of work around the hotel and there was no chance to sit outside on the nice terrace during our 4 nights stay. But once inside, especially because of the very personal and forthcoming attention of the hotel's personnel, we could forget about the bad start and enjoy the encounter with our friends. The suite was perfect in every detail. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant, our husbands enjoyed the enormous pool and we, the wifes, were pampered at the spa. The experience manager tried to get us to visit a cheese factory, but it wasn't possible because we were late to make this reservation. So, we decided to go by ourselves up to the Ecomusee of the Hameu de Colombire at 1850 mts. where we had a very interesting guide along the hamlets.

I certainly would recommend this hotel, it is very special, terrific arquitecture, dedicated personnel, etc. but I would wait a few months until the construction work around is finished to enjoy it fully. We certainly will return.

Dear GranmaAlma, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback about Six Senses Crans-Montana. It was a pleasure to welcome you on property and I am happy to read that, despite a rocky start (which we are actively working to fix), you had a pleasant stay with us. I understand that the arrival at The Cave can be quite surprising. It is part of our Design Narrative of a Journey to Light and going up to the summit of a mountain, which is why the start is quite dark. Regarding the construction noise, we understand that it can be a disturbance and as much as we try to shield out guest's from it, we are sometimes unsuccessfull. Note that the entire construction is planned to be finished by end of this year. Again, thank you for choosing Six Senses and we hope to welcome you again soon in your home away from home. Kind regards, Lea Gibert Quality Manager

One of the most luxurious hotel I’ve ever been!!!! The room, staffs, interiors, and facilities…..what an unforgettable experience in Alps Switzerland! And I must mention the food….I’m usually not a big fan of hotel food, but it’s very different here..I was told everything is locally produced and homemade(even ketchup, you don’t get something like Heinz) Sixsenses is truly another level….Thank you so so much everyone for the wonderful time!

Our time at Six Senses was perfection. We spent a week in Crans-montana, with my 11 year old son. Every detail of the hotel was so well thought through, we felt so well taken care of. The spa was serene, the pool was empty and perfectly warm for the season, we spent hours in there. The energy of the hotel, the design was so simple and beautifully decorated. Anything we needed, the staff came through for us. This is our 3rd stay with the six senses family and we will continue to stay with them as we travel.

Wonderful new Six Senses resort in Crans Montana with incredible views over the Swiss Alps. For me in the Top 5 hotels in Switzerland.
Great location (ski in ski out), luxurious modern spacious Alpine-style rooms, outstanding service. Big spa area with different pools/sauna/gym/yoga/treatments and more. We had an absolutly amazing time!
We loved both restaurants there (Japanese/Swiss modern). One of my fav hotel breakfasts ever!
Great parking valet service. A must visit when in Switzerland!

The culinary team is putting a lot of efforts to have high quality products, and takes great care in sourcing fresh, organic and locally sourced ingredients in our restaurants. As for the Spa, we could not agree more that it is one of the highlights of our resort. Our Six Senses Spa is offering extensive facilities including indoor / outdoor swimming pools, wet areas, and some of the most pioneering technologies, along with biohacking treatments. Wonderfull hotel! Excellent service, fantastic spa. Breakfast nice but you need to like ‚healthy food‘. Unfortunately we did not go to the Japanese restaurant, which is said to be fantastic. The other restaurant is ok but not special. Otherwise a real 5*. (Other 5* in Crans should be downgraded).
We will come back for sure!

The property itself was gorgeous. Every detail was well thought out and looked amazing.
Wild Cabin and Byakko, the two on property restaurants both had plenty of staff who were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.
The activity staff were super helpful with maps, hiking suggestions and gondola passes.

Unfortunately the service in the rest of the hotel was not on the same level.
There seem to be a lot of staff around but lots of basic things were not taken care of.

GEMs:
Each guest is assigned a Guest Experience Manager and the GEM team can be messaged at any time with the Six Senses app. They were very nice but had varying levels of responsiveness and follow-up.

The spa:
Disorganised at check in and check out. Even when there were three staff members at the front they would all be attending to the same thing and so we were left waiting to check out for quite a while every time we were there.
I understand treatments will be expensive but I they had to redo my manicure as the polish looked terrible from the start. Unfortunately, even though the redo was better executed, the polish again did not hold up after 24 hours. The polish they use is clearly not good quality. I paid 170 CHF for a one-day manicure.

Housekeeping:
Extremely sub standard cleaning and service. Surface cleaning with no thoroughness or attention to details.
When we arrived the room looked great but when we opened the knife that was left on a cutting board with a lime (which should have been a lovely touch) it was sticky and had clearly been used and not cleaned or replaced. Unfortunately that was typical of housekeeping throughout our stay.
We stayed four nights. The last two days we arrived back in our room after a full day hiking to find it had not been cleaned. After multiple requests our room was finally cleaned at. 6:30pm one day and 4:30pm the next. There was no apology.
Strangely, Housekeeping do not bring around a cart with all their supplies. They show up with a small tote. Makes me wonder how they were supposed to take away dirty coffee cups and replace them with fresh when they had mo way to carry them. Were they just rinsing everything in the bathroom? Also because they don’t bring around a cart, that every other hotel I have ever stayed in has, they have to run to and fro to get fresh linens, towels etc. So inefficient.
In addition, bed linens were not changed on request or after the third night as promised.
Multiple other issues: Not replacing coffee pods, not replacing towels or bathroom supplies.

Maintenance:
There is a huge tub in the middle of the bathroom that I would have loved to relax in after a long hike. Unfortunately, the plug did not hold the water in. We put in a maintenance request and received a notification that it had been fixed. It hadn’t.

It was such a shame because the property is gorgeous and the location cannot be beat. The small town of Crans-Montana has plenty of shops and restaurants and there are lots of outdoor activity options in the area. Unfortunately the staff need some serious training.

We had the pleasure of staying at the newly opened Six Senses Hotel in Crans Montana, Switzerland, and we were absolutely thrilled with our stay. The view of the surrounding mountain landscape was simply breathtaking, offering an unforgettable sight at any time of the day.

The hotel itself has a contemporary design, with a wonderful blend of stone and wood throughout the entire property. We were impressed how they care for sustainability. The rooms were beautifully crafted, incorporating a mix of materials that exuded a warm and inviting ambiance. It truly felt like a home away from home.

Another highlight was the generously-sized Six Senses Spa. The facilities were first-class, and the soothing atmosphere invited ultimate relaxation. It truly was an oasis of tranquility and well-being.

What made our stay particularly remarkable, however, were the exceptional hotel staff. Starting with Cristina at the reception, who shone as a superb hostess and was always there to assist us with any needs. Her warm demeanor and expertise made the check-in / check-out process a delightful experience.

At the Byakko restaurant, we were welcomed by Lucrezia, an incredibly charming hostess. Her kindness and attentiveness ensured that our visit became a culinary delight. The food was exquisite, and the service was top-notch.

One absolute highlight of our stay was the bartender, Miguel. We have rarely encountered such mastery in the art of mixology. His creativity knew no bounds, and he tailored each cocktail to our individual preferences. Every drink was a true masterpiece and a delight to the senses. Miguel managed to create an inviting and entertaining atmosphere that made the evening truly unforgettable. Wow!

The Six Senses Hotel in Crans Montana surpassed all of our expectations. The stunning views, impeccable room design, and above all, the dedicated and welcoming staff made our stay a truly heavenly experience. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and are already looking forward to our next visit.
