We stayed for one night on our way from the Caribbean Coast to Tenorio National Park. The Hotel is in a very nice, isolated area next to some rivers with an adventurous ride over some rusty hanging bridges. In my opinion there is a lot of potential. However, there is a need of some serious renoviation and upgrades. The rooms...

Approached by a suspension bridge only, you walk over to number of small rooms immediately adjacent to the river or the water basin. Numerous bird sanctuaries are seen in the immediately surrounding grounds, that house an equestrian ring, a voodoo museum, as well as pool, the river, and a Jacuzzi. Overall, a very relaxing and quite environment. Food is made...

We went for a relaxing day at the river and ended up staying for a night and going tubing. Great place, good food, and beautiful views. There are many types of birds, so I recommend bringing binoculars for an amazing morning or afternoon natural treat. They have Rodeos on Saturdays, so will be going back to enjoy this incredible place.

Spent four nights at the lodge, mostly birdwatching in thr vicinity. The lodge folks were very helpful in setting us up with local expert guides, providing advice and information. The birding at the lodge itself was excellent, and La Selva is only 20 minutes down the road. The lodge has a lot to offer. River tubing was great fun, and...

This location is an old ranch converted in an upscale retreat. The property is beautiful, spacious and surrounded by nature. The common area is a large open space. The style is somewhat rustic, but extremely well taken care of. The rooms appear like small bungalow, several overlooking a lake with private patio. The furniture is minimalistic, but tasteful. wifi is...

This is a very comfortable, old-fashioned lodge. The accommodations are spacious and nice, reminiscent of the 1970’s style. You’re not going to get deluxe accommodations, but you’ll have a lot of options of things to do, from nature hikes to horseback riding to watching a Costa Rica style rodeo. And they have a small museum which, when I was there,...

We spent new year at Sueño Azul and it was great. They did a nice horse happening and a good dinner. The rooms are large and the beds are good, albeit short for tall Europeans like me. The breakfast they serve is excellent. The place is surrounded by beautiful vegetation and you are howled awake in the morning by the...

My friends and I fell in love with this location as soon as we saw our room! Overlooking a stream running past the back porch, the sounds of the birds and water, the large, well-lit room was extremely comfortable. The grounds of the hacienda have paths to a river for tubing, small beaches, and paths to the rainforest and waterfalls!...

This is indeed a unique spot in the humid tropics for bird watching. In just a few hours in the morning on the trails of this vast property, we observed over 85 species of birds, including migrant species.
