Quinta Sao Miguel de Arcos what a sensational place. This was my first night stay on my Portuguese Camino and boy was I spoilt. Everything about this place was outstanding, all the people were fantastic, the accommodation was rustic but amazingly comfortable and the evening meal was exceptional and served by an extremely happy and competent young lady. If I...

After the first day of Camino a glimpse of paradise. It is all wonderful starting from the welcome shadow after a long walk under the sun: the inner yard with peacocks, two swimming pools, the vines, the views of the neighboring church and the surrounding hills. Even slight smell from a neighboring cowshed across the road was not irritating but...

I was walking the Camino Portuguese. I was in the middle of nowhere; me, 10,000 grapevines, wild calla lilies on the side of the road and a roman bridge from the 2nd century. All of a sudden I come upon a wonderful hotel, more than a hotel. It is an old manor house, connected to a wonderful tiled church, the...

That was pretty much how i felt here. i did not like the room i was put in, above the kitchen, up some stairs, the receptionist could not speak English so I waited for the owner. He arrived and was most annoyed that I did not like his room or his bedding. He insisted it was cotton, it was not...

We stayed here on the first night of our Camino, Antonio, the owner was most helpful, even did some washing for us. The room was spacious & looked newly renovated, the bathroom was good & the garden setting was beautiful. We had a lovely 5 course home cooked dinner and a good breakfast the following morning, it was a most...

Home quality evening meal and a local church to visit in the evening. Antionio and his extended family made us feel welcome as we had our second stop on our pilgrimage from Porto to Santiago. A stay to remember, and even a swimming pool and private garden if the weather had been warmer.

A beautiful country location to relax after a busy Porto. We had started the Camino walk and enjoyed a bath. After that a walk through pergolas was excellent. If you have dinner be hungry. 5 course dinner

Just got back and I must say it was perfect! If only the weather was a little bit warmer we would have made use of the swimming pool. Nevertheless, the service was absolutely fantastic, Mr Antonio and his wife fully understand what being great hosts mean! We had our dirty clothes washed, the bedroom was beautifully decorated and always tidy...

I can’t do no honest and real evaluation for my business nightover in this place. But there is one short thing that I will never forget… the room decoration! What kind of decoration you would expect in a peregrines stopover? At least “Kinky” will give you the right dreams, and motives, for your religious quest. ☺

This was our first stop on a 2 week walk of the Camino Portugues. We met Antonio, the owner, when he picked up our luggage and drove us out of Porto to start our walk beyond the city limits. The lovely shade provided by the grape vine pergolas was very welcome after a long walk in the heat. We used...
