The four-star Plesnik - located in one of the most beautiful alpine valleys and surrounded by mighty peaks of Kamnik-Savinja Alps, offers luxurious amenities, exquisite dining and professional service. Highlights for us include the breathtaking views from the south-facing balconies, the splendid hotel terrace and the new spa with panorama wall through you can view the valley while you rest. These are free to use for guests and various massages and other treatments are available for an extra charge. The hotel is also a popular destination for business retreats and meetings and multi-day packages for couples and families are also on offer. Additional accommodation is offered in adjacent Villa Palenk, which has rooms of similar standards (and access to the pool) for slightly lower prices. We have great possiblities for activities on open as: hiking, biking, mountain climbing, hunting, foto hunting ... Hotel has new Alpine Eco Wellness with Ayurvedic massages and hotel rooms. Hotel has a Green Globe eco certificate for its sustainablitiey.

This place really is as good as the pictures! Yes it is on the expensive side to stay here but you pay for what you get in my opinion and this is a magical place and the hotel is worth it. The room is modern and sustainable which I give the hotel kudos for. The breakfast was lovely. The staff were very welcoming as well as the neighborhood cat. The wellness Centre was excellent and super clean, it wasn’t busy at all.
Could be improved: The dinner was on the expensive side and some courses were great but as others have stated the mains were rather bland, they weren’t bad they just could be better for the price. There is another hotel 400m up the road which you can eat at that as not as expensive and one night eating at both was great. The rooms do not have air conditioning and I don’t think they necessarily need them (also I get their commitment to sustainability) however if the windows had fly screens and their was at least a fan this would make it much more pleasant. We slept with the window open but there was a mosquito flying in biting my partner.
Overall it was a magical stay and felt like we were living in a dream and 2 nights was a decent time there.
The rich history of the hotel was also fascinating.

This is the only 4 star hotel in the valley and perfect location for hiking/biking. Food is great , pool (a bit cool for me) and spa are nice places to relax . Treatments are good, tho pricey. The Superior rooms with balcony & valley/mountain views are worth the premium , but try to avoid the ones overlooking the terrace (104-107) as noisy, esp in evening. Best balcony rooms are 108, 109 , 207 and 208. Also recommend you ask to swap tables in dining room so you get different views, and eat on the outside terrace when you can for the superb view. Staff are very helpful , esp the lovely Lara .

Great spa and the view, amazing! Spa is opened until 10pm that is a great benefit. Rooms are very spacious, balcony with a pool and mountain view. They offer small lunch from 12pm on the day of arrival, some salads, soup and cheese. We were missing some local sweets so we order for extra charge. Dinner is nothing special, main course was good, but we expected more from a 4* hotel for that price. Overall, it is a nice experience but a bit overpriced. Some services could have been easily improved (extra towels in spa, individually made eggs for breakfast, sauna with mountain view not only underground etc….)

The location is very pretty, in a quiet valley. Our room (king balcony) was relatively small but nicely decorated; the bathroom did not have a real wall, but great shower and nice décor. There is no air conditioning, which worried me when I found out but the temperature in the room was actually ok (opening the windows). We arrived during a storm and were poorly greeted. The same happened at breakfast, the staff is not very friendly and seem annoyed (probably they are understaffed?). They have lots of old fashioned pension rules such as allocated tables for breakfast and set dinner menu. I had originally asked to have dinner at the hotel but when we arrived we were shown a menu with only a broccoli soup and a dessert as veg options, so we declined. The receptionist said the chef would make something vegetarian for us but without knowing what it was we opted to eat somewhere else. The whole situation was a bit of a faulty tower episode. They claim the set menu avoids food waste but I am not sure how many people choose to dine in. I would rather have a choice and maybe eat one dish rather than be forced to eat a big meal with a sad vegetarian option (baked onions, broccoli soup, hummus). The set menu is quite expensive (50 euro without beverages) compared to other local restaurants. The habit of allocating a table per room (not negotiable) is unpleasant and old fashioned. The restaurant room was stifling in the morning. There is a nice terrace and we saw other guests having breakfast there so we just moved there. The natural pond (with fish) is a little weird. Overall it feels like an old-style pension and it should be priced accordingly, in my opinion. I fell and sprained my ankle and they were kind enough to provide ice for me.

The place is beautiful, quiet, but the service does not correspond to 4 stars. The room was uncomfortable. There wasn't even a trash can in the room. There were no mirrors. You can’t even get warm in all three saunas. In the dining room where breakfast is served, the waiter kept walking around and annoyingly checking that no one took anything from the food with them, a bag of tea, sugar, salt, etc. This is not a cheap hotel, but it absolutely does not correspond to this price. I don't recommend it at all.

The Plesnik should have it all – there’s no doubt that the location is gorgeous, the rooms (we stayed in the refurbished annexe) are spacious, contemporary, bright and comfortable, the spa is a super-relaxing space with a nice outdoor natural pool. The hotel has taken big steps towards more sustainability and wellness which is to be applauded. But there is something important that seems to have been lost along the way and that’s hospitality.
Thing is, we’re a pretty laid back family, we’re not needy guests wanting over-attentive service. It would just have been nice to have had a pleasant welcome on arrival (it felt like an inconvenience to want to check in), a hello in the morning or how was your meal at dinner. For some reason, the staff here don’t appear to be a particularly happy bunch and don’t go out of their way to engage with guests. The front desk keep their heads down and the restaurant staff seem unempowered to resolve small problems with diners. Their only solution is to apologise and back away. (The only exception was the yoga teacher who was lovely!)
I’m not blaming the staff, this down to poor training and management. This is a hotel in need of an injection of personality and passion – less process, more customer service.
We have found so many warm and welcoming places to stay in Slovenia; sadly the Plesnik isn't one of them.
A note about the food: dinner costs 40 euros per person and you get to choose 4 dishes from a list of 5. The food was ok but certainly not at that price. The breakfasts were much better. If you are vegan, then the vegan options are very much at a box-ticking level. Really basic and uninteresting option of a main course of variations on a small bowl of rice on each the 4 days we were there. You will have to negotiate something more interesting because they probably won’t offer it unprompted!

my boyfriend and i came here to celebrate my birthday and we were not disappointed! the hotel is clean and nice and we were even able to check into our room earlier than the standard check in time. we really enjoyed the wellness area! our only complaint was that there’s only one indoor pool and the jets from the whirlpool were not working at the time we were there.. also we were there in november so unfortunately it wasn’t possible to swim in the beautiful outdoor pool! we had no complaints about the food- they were very accommodating and communicative to your dietary restrictions and we were very satisfied with the plethora of options they offered. the staff was nice- however, if you do not ask they will not tell you. so if you’re unsure about something or how it works make sure to ask! the bedroom was great and clean, very cute! our only complaint with the room was that the mattress was a bit hard and it was rather cold in the room and we were not able to turn up the heat. however, our overall experience was amazing and we would definitely go back!!

Very pretty hotel with in a beautiful valley. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the beds were very hard. The food is all from local produce , lovely and beautifully presented but a bit expensive. The evening meal though does include a light lunch of salad and soup. The hotel is directly opposite an entrance to the Logar valley Trail. We turned right along the trail through the forest to the source of a stream. Very pretty, well marked trail, lots of benches to sit on at viewing points. Took about 30 - 40 mins each way. A top tip when coming is not to choose the shortest route the sat nav gives as it takes you over the top of 3 massive mountains and through a corner of Austria. While we were there we went on a tour at a local farm ( guide : Mojca Ošep ) which was well worth it. Lovely place for walking. The spa is a nice place to sit and read if the weather isn’t good

This Hotel is really not the calm place it advertises itself as. The main bar terrace is below the Mountain View rooms which are very small, and opposite it is a guesthouse that at the time of my visit, was occupied by the local motorbike club. This is not the hotels fault, just a heads up. They have no competition and how they run their business is up to them, but for the money I would have hoped for better.

We had 7 nights here on half board with a package. The location and valley the hotel sits in is utterly breathtaking and hard to beat. It’s very easy to relax either at the hotel or in the nearby forests on the numerous walking trails. The food at the hotel is excellent particularly the breakfast which places large emphasis on freshness and locally sourced ingredients. Now to the negatives… We booked a Mountain View room as many previous reviews suggested. Was it worth it? Probably…just. This is because there is a terrace directly beneath the balcony which produced noise and disturbance several times- notably late at night on one occasion with a large group of business people were enjoying themselves, something which the hotel seemed unable to control as they had closed the reception so we couldn’t complain about it! Food- my wife is vegetarian and whilst mostly she was well catered for, sometimes the creativity and effort was lacking. For example, one night the meat option was simply replaced…by an additional carrot. Overall though these minor negative points are intended for the hotel to improve still further what is a truly special place for a relaxing holiday. A hotel that I would very highly recommend.
