We stayed in almost all the YMH lodges in the Khumbu and this one, like all the others, was very comfortable, quiet, served excellent food and had a friendly and helpful staff and manager. Please see my review of the excellent trek which was organized...More

We hiked from Namche Bazar to Thame and really enjoyed the scenery and this comfortable lodge. It is off the beaten path (EBC trek) with not many people visiting the area; Thame is a very charming Sherpa village with many Everest climbers. We had to...More

You have to cross a couple of fields (there are convenient holes in the small stone walls) to get to YMH in Thame – which just adds to the charm of the place. It's a lovely lodge with very big rooms. When you walk in...More

The best thing about this place was it is further off the track that most of the tourists take to go to Everest. We passed only a few other people on our hike to the lodge. It was beautiful and we woke up to snow...More

Yeti Mountain Home Thame was the third of six Yeti Mountain Homes we stayed in. Loved the ambiance. Loved the village. A huge bedroom. Once again - brilliant food and warm welcoming staff. The decor was stunning and the house arrangement interesting.

Did anyone imagine this, taken from the Facebook page 'Nepalese in Photography'? This is the Yeti Mountain Home, a luxury hotel which is the only building left inhabitable in Thame, Everest Region, Nepal. In the days following the earthquake at least 7 empty commercial helicopters flew to Thame to evacuate the hotel's wealthy customers. Since the quake not a single helicopter has arrived with any supplies for the stricken villagers who are all living in tents or under pieces of plastic. The Yeti Mountain Home now lies empty of guests, fully staffed, stocked with food. The doors of the Yeti Mountain Home are closed to the local population. They are also closed to stranded trekkers. Unable to pay the exorbitant prices they demanded we begged to sleep on the floor of their lobby. The manager refused. He then wanted to sell us helicopter seats out for $1,000 USD each. A local family gave us one of their small tents so they now only have one. Please share this and help make the Yeti Mountain Home the most famous hotel in the world today. Hopefully it will shame it and the many other "elite" businesses in Nepal into understanding that they must join the relief effort.

Apparently the hotel later changed tack and did bring supplies in and allow the stranded Everest porters to take shelter there.
