Ambong Pool Villas Langkawi is a villas-only boutique resort, set in the lush jungle, overlooking the sea and islands of Langkawi. Our restaurant, Rimba at Ambong Pool Villas serves an international All Day Dining menu and a local Rimba Signatures menu, ingredients are sourced locally where possible and herbs are from our own organic garden. We were apprehensive about making the long journey to come back. Could it be as great as it was last year? We went for it as it was my husband’s wish for his 50th birthday.
We weren’t disappointed. We arrived in paradise in a resort that feels like home.
We were greeted by a driver at the airport who safely and swiftly got us to the hotel. We were warmly greeted by Dee with a refreshing drink while we checked in and our luggage was taken to our villa (#4).
Our villa was just as lovely as we remembered - stunning view, enticing pool, tastefully decorated with comfort in mind, well appointed with everything we could possibly need, including sarongs. We requested that one of the hotel drivers pick us up to take us to town for supplies. This request was promptly fulfilled and he also provided valuable information on activities in the area.
After lazing by the pool for the afternoon, we went to the Monsoon rooftop bar to enjoy the view of the sunset with a tropical drink. Later, we headed to the restaurant below to be greeted by the warm smiles of the attentive and caring restaurant staff who had reserved a special table for us in a prime location on the deck. The food is excellent. We enjoyed both local and western dishes during our stay. The service is always excellent. Special thanks to Wan for that. In fact, we ate all of our meals at the restaurant because, to our way of thinking, there’s no better place to be on the island.
We spent a wonderful week at Ambong and everyday I was overwhelmed by the beauty, amazing staff, and great food. There is a genuine commitment by the staff to create lasting memories for guests. Everyone from reservations, to housekeeping, landscaping, the chef, bartenders, wait staff, drivers, and management do an amazing job. They are also very interested in getting feedback to ensure guests’ stays are perfect.
On our last day the staff come out to wish us well on our journey. It was very touching and I found myself getting emotional. You may come as a guest but you leave as family.
Special thanks to the house keeping team who kept our villa spotless and provided turn down service. Well done!

A nice and quite, luxury place with nice private pool and terrace. We stayed in the Kuang Villa and, even if it's situated on the height (great view), it was permanently a driver who took us everywhere we needed. Even if it's a luxury location, I think it is a litlle bit overrated and the value for money it's not entirely justified (we paid 430€/night, but I think the right price would be arround 300€/night).

Having stayed in Langkawi many times before we are aware of the standard of local hotels/ guesthouses. Ambong was without a doubt a cut above the rest. The quality of the finish and cleanliness was superb.
From the moment we arrived, the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. We booked in for a massage and were transported to the other resort for this. It was lovely!
We were impressed with the food and wine options available at Rimba. They catered very well for vegetarians, including the set menu that we thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfast was varied and good quality food. One morning we opted to have this delivered to our villa.
Monsoon rooftop bar is one of the best sunsets on the island and in addition, as you are sat there, monkeys and birds are playing in the forest around you.
The villas are extremely private and the view we had was spectacular. The pool was a dream! Each day, the pool was cleaned and each evening insect repellents set out by staff.
We left Ambong feeling truly relaxed and spoilt. What a wonderful treat. For luxury on Langkawi, treat yourself to Ambong!

The one lament the owners had in building the original Ambong Ambong Rainforest Resort back in 2011 was that they had to cut down TWO trees.
This green sensibility continued and prevailed with the development of the 8 private pool villas (9 if you include the family villa which can house up to 3 couples) all of which are sea facing and shaded by a glorious canopy of trees some of which grow and flourish right in the middle of the villas.
There’s an excellent restaurant (Rimba) which is popular with the locals (always a good sign), a roof top sky bar for spectacular sunsets and a wine room in progress.
The villas themselves are fully equipped, 5 star and include an alfresco dining area where you can order in for those who cant bring themselves to get out of their own pool. Cutlery, crockery, glasses and cups are all sanitised in this age of Covid with complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks and (non plastic) bottled water in keeping true to eco friendly observances.
Service is attentive and homely but the main attraction of Ambong Ambong Pool Villas is the privacy, not having to contend with crowds at breakfast or at the main swimming pool (which there is none!), truly private pool villas. Marvellous

Stay at Ambong pool villa for a night and we love it, although the villa is partly open to natural, but is 100% privacy.
The villa is huge, comfort bed, huge shower room and straight access to the private pool, outdoor bathtub and shower stand also avalible Kitchen and dinning area is separated from the main villa.
The path from the reception to our villa is quite sloping and is dark during night.
Overall, is a perfect gateway for honeymoon. Love it natural and privately.

If you require peace and tranquility this is the place you must book. Words cannot describe the beauty of how the hotel villas and restaurant area have been built inamongst the surrounding natural beauty of Langkawi. We booked Villa Kemoja for 6 nights, the villa was beautiful and the pool was amazing with stunning views of the sea and lush tropical rainforest. From 6pm onwards we could see the sunsetting, what a view!! The Monsoon Sky Bar and Rimba restaurant had a collection of fantasic staff who could not do enough for us, our special thanks goes to Mimi and Wan, who looked after us throughout our stay. The views from both these places are worthy of a picture postcard. Front of staff, Dee and Mun, went the extra mile for us as our stay was in the middle of the Malaysia lockdown due to Covid 19. Their help and support was greatly appreciated. The breakfast selection was excellent and the evening dining options were good but there could have been more variety! You could have a choice of in room dining as well as in the restaurant. For added luxury and privacy, in room dining is perfect as well as indulgent. Our only tiny niggle was that the wifi was slow (we only say this due to the plava of Covid 19 and having to rebook flights etc to go back home). Watch out for the monkeys, they are cheeky chappies who will keep you amused! They stole our tea towel!! Once again many thanks to Ambong Pool Villas and all your staff who made our stay so memorable, we will be seeing you in the future. PERFECT!!

We stayed @ Tirai Villa for 1 night. Booking through Agoda from 27-28 dec 2019. We really enjoy the spectacular and stunning view from the villa. The villa is very clean and huge, the bed was very comfortable, the wash room is spacious and very convenient. The ‘In Villa Breakfast’ was really good, we enjoy our food. We had our dinner at the dining area and it was good also. I would suggest for the hotel if they could include the dinner inside the package for the guest (1 meal for 1 person) as the price is 4 numbers to be counted and the water pool if the management can make it warm as the water is very cold we not really enjoy our pool actually. All staff was very helpful. Please put the signage the place to check in. There’s no signage and make it difficult if we directly go check in by ourselves. Overall is okay but a little things if you can make it change it would be very perfect. We would love to come back and try another villa. If anything can direct email me idayu_1803@yahoo.com. I don't think there are enough words to describe our stay here at Ambong Ambong Pool Villas. We came here for our honeymoon and truly loved the whole experience. It was very personalised, unique and incredibly private that it felt like we were the only ones staying at this fantastic retreat. The villa is incredibly large, the pool and tub were divine with nature surrounding us, and the view is spectacular. Premises are very well cleaned and maintained daily.
The villa staff were extremely warm and cheerful that made us feel very welcomed. Service was efficient with a call/text away and the staff are always punctual for villa transport which was very convenient since the villa is located on steep slopes within the rainforest. Food is decent and the in-villa breakfast was the highlight, being able to dine with incredible views and nature. Little touches like the care kit pouch (sustainable comb, soap, insect repellent etc.) was an absolute treat. The complimentary airport transfer were also very convenient and we were treated with a very large and comfortable vehicle.
Overall the entire experience and service was outstanding and we truly felt like VIPs during our stay. This is by far the best and most enjoyable stay we've ever had in Langkawi and will definitely return in the future :)

The staff were all very keen to serve and tried their very best to pleased. We were treated like royalties. But make sure your instructions are fully understood as not all of them were fluent in English. We had the three roomed villa even though there were just the two of us. Its location on a headland overlooking the sea was absolutely stunning. The sunsets were something to behold. The villa was equipped with every amenities and we were not lacking in anyway in terms of drinks, snacks fruits and any thing else we may need outside a proper meal. The kitchen was fully equiped even though we never did use it. We had all our meals either at the property's own dining own or at its sister property, Ambong Ambong. The meals we had, particularly the Japanese dinner was top class.

We've just had a 7 night stay in a studio at Ambong Ambong Rainforest Retreat. Our accommodation was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and clean with a balcony which enabled us to look out onto the rainforest and enjoy the antics of the monkeys close by. All the facilities, ie kitchen, bathroom, plumbing and air conditioning etc were reliable and worked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in accommodation which was set so beautifully within the rainforest area - the setting definitely matched our expectations. Without exception, every member of staff was friendly, polite and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them. The food in both restaurants was delicious, prepared and cooked to a high standard. The swimming pool was clean and well maintained and set in an appropriately shaded area. This is clearly a well managed hotel where attention to detail is paramount. We would not hesitate to recommend it!

All of the Private Pool Villas offer a sea view from the hilltop and surrounded by the rainforest trees.
The villas which can enjoy the most sun exposures are:
- Villa Kemarong (sunrise pool villa)
- Villa Machinchang (sunset pool villa)
- Villa Sawak (sunset pool villa)
Typically sunrise pool villas receive sun from the dawn to 3-4pm whereas sunset pool villas can enjoy direct sun from 12pm-sunset.
And February is normally be the dry months in Langkawi with little rain. You and your wife will have sunny holiday in Langkawi!

There is no beachfront. The resort provides a private mobile handset which you can use to call the resort driver. The driver will take you to any place within 2km vicinity,including the beach.
