We booked this motel for two nights because of the good reviews it has gotten. Well, it seems we got the worst room/rooms in the motel. At first everything was ok the room was big and there is a tv (in room 4 it didn't work though). However we noticed a dead bed bug on the pillow shortly after we had settled in. We checked and it seemed to be a young one. We thought nothing of it and didn't want to bother the staff (who were very nice btw). But we did keep it in mind and as we started sleeping I suddenly saw something move on my pillow. That night we "slept" on the floor because there is no 24 h reception. The next morning we went to tell the staff and they were very sorry and moved us to room 3. When we came back to the motel after our day of activities we checked the bed and the pillows seemed to have the same problem. So we checked out early and had a good sleep in another place. Also this time the staff member only seemed shocked that the problem was in room 3 also, which made us think that they knew about room 4 but gave it to us anyways.
The bugs might only be in those rooms or that building which would explain all the positive comments. There was someone in agoda saying that the bed bug problem is fabricated and I think that is a bit foolish. If you do go to Desa motel, just don't stay in these rooms and I'm sure you'll have a good stay.

For RM125 per night, large room, large bathroom and 2 queen size bed this is the best bargain u can find in Cenang area. The only thing- towel they provided is worn out. I love the breakfast right in front of the hotel. Its purely local food and its cheap!!

I just came back from my vacation in Langkawi today. The most thing I cant wait is to write in to trip advisor and share on this story with all of my beloved friends here. I stay in this motel for one night because of the comment from other guests before which for me acceptable. I checked in at 2PM and we found the room looks old but we are fine with it. They provide television in the room but it doesn't work and we still fine with it without much complain. However, when come out with this matter, then it is the BIGGEST problem ever. Let me tell you guys what happen.

Guess what, we stayed in Desa Motel with bed bugs. I do not think this is a joke or something that can be taken easily. Hotel management should do something on this. Me and my spouse, have to wake up about 2AM, because we totally cannot sleep caused bitten by bed bugs. We tried to use some aerosol to spray on our mattress and it doesnt work. When we start kill one bed bug and continue sleep, we found that the whole of our body bitten by the bed bugs. Oh my God, I am really shocked, when I found out about 10 bed bugs on our bed and all ready to bite us. Can you guys imagine, sleeping with all the bed bugs. This ruined our vacation, as we have to wake up and decided to find another hotel about 2AM, which totally hard to find any hotel at that time. We travel to Kuah and we managed to find another hotel and end up with extra cost for our stay. We have to turn back to the Desa Motel the next day only to return the key as they do not have 24 hours reception service.

Now, I agreed with "Gordonausieguy's review" below, bed bugs are all over the beds. I stayed in mostly about 30 hotel in Asia, and this is the 1st hotel ever with bed bugs. I totally cannot accept this.

Therefore, I would like to share on this to all my beloved friends here, please avoid this hotel if you do not want to ruin your vacation. Hotel management should do something or get pesticides control for all people convenience. This is a very serious matter.

We found this to be a small, quiet and very friendly place to stay on the western side of Langkawi (Kampung Lubok Buaya). Check in took about 30 seconds and we were shown to our room - all are set out around a shaded courtyard with well tended gardens. Having a laundry on site was very useful too (approx £1 per kilo) - which was staffed by a number of charming giggly girls. Our room had a big firm bed, very efficient air con, good sized bathroon, daily room service, fridge,TV and free WiFi. Outside each room there was also a porch with a table and chairs. Could you really expect much more for under £17 a night?? There is also a stall near to the Desa run by a Muslim family (so closed on Fridays) that sells a range of freshly cooked snacks and the most wonderfully fragrant black tea. The closest beach was about 5 min walk away (as was the beginning of the main trawl of shops and restaurants) and it was very clean. The sea was clear and very warm (with only the occasional jellyfish washed up). The main beach was much busier, but still not crowded. Overall we were pleasantly surprised at the lack of development in this area. The vast majority of buildings are single storey - but there already signs that this will change as a number of multi-floor buldings are under construction along the main street Jalan Pantai Chenang. There were a good variety of Chinese, Malay and Indian restaurants to choose from, but no hawker food centre. Because Langkawi is a duty free island, alcohol costs about the same as in the UK. The downside is that we found the restaurant food here to be considerably dearer here than elsewhere in Malaysia. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would return.

We experienced an over-supply of bedbugs during our stay last year.
We presented the creatures to the owner and his wife. First, they disputed the findings. Second, they assured us that each room would be fumigated during the summer slow season.
Obviously, no action was taken, which leave us to believe that their
assurances were fabricated and duplicitous.
Their lack of regard/respect for travelers /customers - local or international - is troubling.
These are two adults - the owner and his wife - that have turned a blind eye to the comforts of their
guests. And they knowingly continue
their despicable disregard.

On arrival at Desa Motel, we were given room 5, our first thoughts were good size rooms, I checked the pillows, and they were really dirty,I asked for them to be changed and they said that they hadn't got any replacements, and all there pillows were in that condition (they have a laundry company as well by the way) but anyway, we went to bed that night to find out the next morning that the bed was full of bed bugs, and we had been sevearly bitten, we also took a closer look at the bathroom and the toilet and sink, and these had not seen any cleaning products in a very long time, "it was disgusting". So We asked to be moved, and we were shown room no:3 I went straight to the bed and found more bed bugs, "Which they tried to denied" so we were shown to room no:1 which I checked and found that it seemed clear, but on removing the sheets (2 single beds), the mattresses were completely full of urine stains."not a little" But litres of the stuff, The bathroom was as dirty as the others. all the time we were experiencing these problems, at no time did the owner contact us to appologies, This is the dirtiest motel I have ever seen in all the years we have been traveling. DON'T STAY HERE, unless you want a sleeping partner..!

This is a small Malay style motel.I love this place. The room in large enough, with a foyer type area and a front veranda.Hot water, aircon, its hard to believe this is 4 years opkld, still very good and very clean. The owner,Yussef is a friewndly guy,i said the only thing i miss is an electrixc kettle fdor coffee,it was delivered to my roopm in minutes. The landscaped gardens are a shangri -la,beautifully set out and maintained.Location is good,5 mins walk to beach and restaurants, also an internet cafe at front, laundry at front as well,Yussef tells me wi fi is on.Rates are vbery reasonable for what you get here.If you want a 5 star reasort, you need to go elsewhere, only 9 rooms here, but very nice.

Ok, I agree with other reviewers that the room is quite spacious, there's AC and hot water. However, the place can easily be improved at no additional cost for the owners. It's some simple things that only require a little consideration. For example, the pics I saw of the motel prior to my arrival suggested a lush, green/flowery entrance. Instead, the reception is Langkawi's laundry centre with heaps of clean and dirty clothes and bedsheats (in industrial quantities!) all over the place. The receptionist just thrusted us the key to our room and pointed to a tiny path that we should take. The path veered between the back entrance of the laundry, a dirty water canal and the left-over of some ongoing construction. Because were left to our own intuition to find our room, we ended up at the wrong spot. Then we had to specifically request basic things like toilet paper and a clean extra sheet to put under the blanket (of course you don't wash the blanket after every new guest, so you just put new sheets, right? It would make sense!). We stayed 3 nights and the room wasn't cleaned even once. My point is: Yes, the motel is decent. Yes, there IS a wonderful green grand entrance. But the service is bad. Is the staff sabotaging the place on purpose? If you just spare some thought to welcoming your customers, you could really highlight the good sides of the motel. As I said, it doesn't cost a thing to have considerate staff.
