The Ambong Rainforest Retreat is a beautiful place surrounded by lush green nature. If you really want to unwind and recharge, it is the place to be. I was looking for a yoga retreat which is hard to find in Malaysia. Luckily I found that Ambong Ambong is organizing a wellness program with various yoga classes, but also other nice activities like cooking and mocktail workshops every three months (March, June, September and December). The rooms are on the hill, but have a sea view. They offer free shuttle service to the beach and to their other restaurant in Ambong pool villa. The food is excellent and the personal service is top notch. It offered everything I wished for a relaxing long weekend and I will certainly try to come back!
We stayed at the Ambong Ambong rainforest retreat for two nights in February 2023. On the positive side, the general vibe of the place is great, you are truly in the middle of the jungle. We did see some dusky-leaf monkeys and giant squirrels, which we greatly enjoyed. Staff was also the most friendly we experienced in Malaysia, even in comparison to 5* hotels (thanks to Putra, among others!). You can really feel the customer orientation at Ambong all the way through. À la carte breakfast was also excellent, and the Rimba sky restaurant was a true highlight of our stay in Langkawi (an absolute must!). Despite the positives, we had expected a bit more quality in terms of the rooms, given that we paid more for our stay there than in some 5* hotels in Malaysia. Overall, we felt that the rooms and their interiors were of rather basic quality (although the bed was very comfortable). Overall, we do not regret our stay at Ambong as we had some great moments here. If you are looking for a jungle experience, Ambong is certainly one of the best options on the island!…
Amazing location, great room, great food and even better staff. Every staff member are very nice and caring and look after you. They have a shuttle bus service to take you up and down the hill to your room or take you over to the sister property at Ambong pool villas. Would higher recommend staying here!
We had a conopy Studio which was nice situated in the rain forest. With a nice distant view to the sea. All members of the sraff were always friendly and helpful. Man thanks to Rizahl,Putra and all the others.
What a hidden gem. Visited for evening meal and had the most amazing dinner. The manager Zahir was a fantastic host and made us so welcome we booked for our wedding anniversary a few days later. Our second visit was even better than our first visit. The general manager gave us a small present for our newly born grandson which was so kind, and flowers for our anniversary ( amazing generosity) . Special credit must go to Faris our waiter who advised us on food choices and wine selection. Every now and then you find a really fantastic restaurant and this was one of those occasions. Thank you the Ambong Ambong team you made our holiday.
We stayed in the Canopy suite for 7 days at the end of our 25 day Malaysian holiday. The room was fantastic. Really comfortable and relaxing. Great views of the forest and the sea. We saw lots of monkeys, giant squirrels, sea eagles and hornbills. Lina looked after us from start to finish. Arranging airport transfers, day trips, shuttle service trips between this and the sister resort. Which was great, she was really helpful, friendly and thoughtful. As was the case with everyone at the resort. The whole experience was wonderful, thank you.
We’ve had a very relaxing stay at the Ambong Ambong Rainforest suite. The suite itself is set up beautifully. We are enjoying the fabulous calm atmosphere. The staff (Shafiq, Lee, Amirul, Putra, Tajul and the rest of the team) are all fantastic and extremely accommodating. The sundowner at the Rimba sky bar is breathtaking. Thank you!
This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for a home away from home and somewhere to recharge yourself and just chill out amongst the rainforest and its inhabitants. I found the forest sounds very calming and relaxing and the views were really lovely. My friend and I stayed in the canopy studio right at the top of the retreat and it was very peaceful. The staff were very hospitable and went out of their way to make my friend's and my stay enjoyable. Since ours was an online booking, we basically informed them of what we wanted to do and they arranged everything for us seamlessly. The room was as advertised and lived up to expectations. Clean with spectacular views and turn down service and mossy deterrent arrangements, every evening. The spa was very nice. The surrounding areas (both in and outside of it) were a picture of tranquility and after our spa session, we felt thoroughly relaxed. The food at Pegaga, the vegan restaurant, was fresh and full of flavour and our dinner at the Rimba sky restaurant, was not only tasty but also had a spectacular view of the sunset. The only drawback with this resort, in my opinion, is that the roads leading up to the accommodations were really steep in some places and there were a lot of steps to climb up and down to get to them. Although the shuttle service was available on a complimentary basis to take us wherever we wanted to go, being a fairly independent person, I found it a little curtailing to always have to rely on it to move around. Another thing to note is that you have to walk out of the resort to get to the beach, although it is just a short distance away. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience and will definitely go back again when we have the time…
Lovely well equipped cottages are elegantly scattered in the rainforest. Enjoy the sounds of the forest day and night. Watch the amazing brown wing eagels and hornbills. Enjoy a wonderful breakfast in the rimba restaurant with a great view. By the way also have dinner there, great food and beatiful sunset. The pegaga vegan restaurant is great for lunch. Do go to the yoga class on Saturday, wonderful teacher and in the trees the cutest dusk leave monkeys join you they are gentle and peaceful. The macaques are curious maybe joining you at your balcony or at breakfast just be careful with your food but they are so much fun. Day and night the staff is ready for you to serve you the best and to drive you around in the resort. If you book I would recommend the deluxe cottages. Thank you for an unforgettable stay. We will treasure the memories…
We stayed in a studio in the rainforest retreat, and it was absolutely incredible. It was the nicest experience we’ve had staying anywhere. Everything was done to an exceptional standard, and I could write a long list of all the positives, but the main highlights were the genuinely lovely, welcoming, and incredibly thoughtful staff, the complimentary breakfast at Pegaga (their vegan restaurant), which was amazing. We also tried one of the massages at their Amaala spa, which was truly wonderful - please give them a try if you can! We can’t recommend it highly enough and intend to visit again.
