We are a small boutique property with only 20 units and hence very personalized service. We are located on the beach of Isla Palo Seco of Parrita, just two hours from San Jose, Costa Rica with nothing between you and the ocean except a few palm trees. We offer 1, 2 & 3 bedroom units. Anything from a standard hotel room to a full 2,200 sq ft. living area with full kitchen and dining area. Isla Palo Seco is still one of the undiscovered authentic beach destinations unspoiled by loads of tourists, yet has a local community to fulfill basic needs while vacationing. The city of Parrita is a ten-minute drive away and has banks, supermarkets, restaurants, shopping, churches and a medical clinic. There are taxis and bus service to Quepos, Jaco and San Jose.

I booked a 2 rooms suite at Cocomar Beachfront for a family stay and we weren’t disappointed, rooms were very clean and spacious with beachfront balconies full amenities including dishwasher tv in every room free wifi extends to the beach since there’s no cellular connection but with wifi we stayed in communication with everyone, the staff were very very polite and helpful in every way they could. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels replaced they even give guests beach towels. They have chairs at the beach and a nice big swimming pool where we spent hours with the kids playing. Breakfast was ok but they’ll make you any breakfast you might want and the bar fully stacked too. My next visit to Parrita we’ll be staying at cocomar again.

We had an awesome experience at Cocomar! The room was gigantic & immaculate, the staff was friendly & attentive, the food was very good and the beach was pristine. Very relaxing place to unwind, read, enjoy walks on the beach and enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica. Also, the proximity to Jaco and Manuel Antonio made the location central to experience a few different areas.

The Hotel Cocomar Resort is on a deserted beach called Palo Seco (Dry Stick in English). This is civilized hotel in a rustic beach area. The beach is gorgeous black volcanic very fine sand ... powder sand. Look up and down for miles and you might see 1 or 2 people! The staff are super! The rooms are big and have frig, AC, microwave, most rooms have ocean views with nice patio balconies! The restaurant on-site is Las Brisas and the food is 1st rate quality, make sure to eat dinner here as it is prepared by terrific chef Pito who is well respected for his high cuisine! The pool is very nice. This is a regular return place because it has the setting, the nice quality rooms, staff and restaurant! Highly recommend if your looking for very nice place that has a native feel and off the typical tourist path. Oh yeah and it has 24/7 onsite security!

We have stayed in the hotel 3 nights, and I would like to mention here few things that surprised me not in a good way:(
1. prices in restaurant are extremely expensive and I believe that’s why there is literally no one on lunch and dinners. Because no one will pay 12$ for cesadilla where price in closest restaurant (5km) is 5$. Cocomar is really far away from everything, but it’s not nice when this fact is a reason to increase a prices for 2-3 times. 2 beers + 2 tonics = 20$!!! 2. I’m not a squeamish but towels and linens are so old and have stains ( I’ve added the picture of “fresh” foot towel) that i was really afraid to use them. No hair dryer in the room 3. Hotel offers only Costaricans typical breakfast (beans, scramble, rice) and if you want to change a scrambled eggs to fried ones you need to pay additional 4 dollars!!! For all other breakfast you need to pay yourself (ex. pancakes - 10 $) 4. the beach is not very clean and the sun beds provided by the hotel are old and uncomfortable
I am for the first time in Costa Rica and having visited few restaurants and hotels in this country, I can say that the price / quality ratio in not good here at all. In so fantastic spot can be made much much better :) not 4 starts for sure, 3 maximum, not sure even that 3
Benefits are: empty beach with nice sunsets that is really close to the room, nice nature, really good Wi Fi, nice staff, we were allowed to stay 2 more hours after check out

Relaxing, understated accommodation off the beaten path. Cocomar has a remote feel to it, but if you have a car, it's easy to get around. I enjoyed the food in the restaurant and the typical Costa Rican breakfast. Parrita is about a 20 minute drive and there are food options there as well.
Like many places in fairly remote areas, the WiFi can depend on where you're sitting or standing on the property, but it was adequate for casual communications and web browsing.
The beach is directly across a gravel road and very sparsely populated. I only encountered a dog during my time on the beach. If you're looking for a calm, tranquil stay at the beach, you can't go wrong here.
I look forward to returning to the tranquility and sound of the sea.

Worst experience in many years. You will be mistreated. Stay anywhere but here.
My family has traveled around Costa Rica for years. We booked through a travel agency and also fell for “good” reviews.
Customer Care is lacking, food service is mediocre to say the least.
To provide context, on our first day after a 3 hr drive from San Jose we were starving. Asked about dinner and the remark was: “you will have 2 wait for 2 hrs, the restaurant is full”. Since we did not know the area we decided to wait 1 hr, we called guest services again, the remark was that the best they could do was start cooking for us at 9:30 pm. We explained we had a young boy with us. No solutions were provided.
At the end we decided to venture on own and look for any place that was serving food at 9pm, gladly we were lucky and found one about 10 mins away.
Upon arrival, no one offered to help with luggage. As I mentioned before customer care does not exist. Front desk manager shows little interest.
The only plus side us that rooms are quite large and neat.

We just returned from our 6th stay at this hotel over the past four years. It has become our "Go to" to place for a relaxing retreat from San Jose where we live. The property is beach front and from the deep room verandas whether it is raining or the sun is shining you can see and hear the Pacific Ocean. Chad is the manager and he makes sure all guests are taken care of. He is also hard working - every time we return there are improvements to the property - the gardens or pool or other amenities just get better and better. Incidentally this hotel is the perfect COVID 19 escape. There are not that many rooms - 20? The larger suites are complete condos with kitchen, living room, large bedroom and a huge bathroom. Because the hotel population is limited and the beach is not as popular as others, you will not have any difficulty finding safe seclusion from the masses at Cocomar.

The hotel was very clean and organized. The rooms were big, as well as the bathrooms. The staff was really attentive, specially Susana, who helped us get tickets to Manuel Antonio Park and landed us a phone charger. Although the hotel is a bit far from the city’s center, it’s beach compensates. Incredible experience!

The hotel is certainly a nice getaway, especially if want to completely unplug from your day to day. The wifi is strong but you will not have any cellular network connection. The restaurant offers an amazing breakfast! Everything tasted good. You'll feel secure. There is an armed, yet friendly guard at the front gate. The pool leaves much to be desired but the private beach makes up for it. Make sure to spend time there.
You must know: 1. You NEED to rent a car. I spent so much money on transportation that it really put a damper on our vacation. Warren (who was extremely helpful) helped us secure transportation to various locations. The driver's name is Oscar. He is trustworthy, friendly, and reliable.
Other than that - enjoy your trip!

Hello!
Thank you for asking ;)
We offer you many tours and activities nearby, owned and operated by costa rican families and our community people, there are activites like: Fishing in the Mangrove, boat tours, kayak, paddle board surf, surf classes, Hiking in parks and waterfalls, Vainilla Farm tour, rafting, zip linning and many others, we offer you concierge service with no additional cost.
Dear John
We work together with Oscar, he is our man of trust, is a taxi driver, normally the rate from the airport directly to the hotel is $145 USD.
Regards
It depends, a Sedan is ok, but as it is a dirty road to get to the hotel (it is located in an island) go a little slowly, it takes 15 minutes to get there from the Parrita Bus Station.
Regards
We can call taxis and we can book private shuttles, to get to the public bus station you need to take a taxi, around $9 the rate, and then in the bus station are buses to San Jose, Puntarenas or Quepos/ Manuel Antonio
There are more places to choose from in the Palo Seco area.
