We were looking very much forward to our visit to the Stagg Inn and are very happy it was one to remember. A warm welcome as a good start and a delicious bread and butter desert as a log lingering tasty farewell to remember. In between venison and Herefordshire beef dishes that were extremely tender, local cheeses that - apart...

Lovely family run inn that is much, much more than a gastro-pub. I have been going for many years and it has not just maintained its standards but steadily increased them. The local venison was particularly good as was the asparagus soup and perfectly cooked seafood 'nibbles'. Not just good for Hertfordshire, but one of Britain's culinary gems.

I could find no fault with our evening. The food was absolutely delicious throughout every course. Generous portions without the plates being swamped of well cooked fresh food. Delicious sauces. Amazing front of house with delightful and efficient waiting staff. This restaurant did not disappoint in any way.

My husband and I spent a night at this fabulous establishment. Our room was in the vicarage which was a short walk from the main hotel. The vicarage was a beautiful building with lovely gardens. We enjoyed pre- dinner drinks at the bar where there was a fine selection of gin and vodka. Our dinner was wonderful. I had delicious...

This is a better than average bistro/pub restaurant. When you walk in first impressions are of a cosy country pub with rooms, the main restaurant is upstairs. In the bar you can have a wide variety of of aperatif/cocktails, there is also an extensive wine list. The food is excellent , the menu provides something for everyone. I had a...

As part of a large group we had Sunday lunch here for the second time in two years. The food was excellent and despite there being so many of us it was all fairly well orchestrated, came out hot and was timed well. Service was friendly, with a smile and coped with drinks requests and managed the tabs effectively. The...

This was our second visit. This time we went for Sunday lunch which, at £22 for three courses is outstanding value. There is a limited menu - always a good sign. The dining room is very calm, elegant and comfortable. The food was fresh, interesting, beautifully presented and very tasty.

The owners and all the staff were very friendly. The service and food was of a high standard (best fillet steak i've had). We stayed the night in the vicarage and loved it. I'd definitely recommend it for a nice quiet night away.

We've eaten at The Stag about half a dozen times (staying overnight on one occasion), travelling from Ludlow (weekend home) to enjoy its unique combination of great pub atmosphere and Michelin star restaurant. Best tables are in the back bar area (in my view) but there isn't really a bad table. The staff achieve a good balance of professional and...

We have been here before. We live nearby, so it is one of the few places we can chose for a special treat. This time it was my daughters Birthday. We asked to be in the Pub, as we think the atmosphere there is more friendly. One daughter was fully satisfied with her choice. The other three of us have...
