The art of creating exquisite cuisine lies in combining the new with the traditional. Discover an exceptional experience that will satisfy both the intellect and the palate. Hospitality and culinary excellence have merged to form a distinctive experience at Krone. The historic Achkarrer Krone has been renowned for its fresh Baden cuisine and fine Kaiserstuhl wines since 1561.
Four of us enjoyed a very good dinner at the Krone - the first time we have been there for over two years. As usual, the food was very good and the service was excellent. The four of us plan to return there for another dinner in the new year.

We stayed in the hotel and did - of course - eat in the restaurant. A combination that works if the room fulfills the needs and the food is good. The ability to drink a glass (or two) as one has not to drive anymore is half of the formula, local food well prepared and local wine of decent quality is the other half. The Achkarrer Krone does meet these - and located in the lovely Kaiserstuhl area it definitely is worth while to consider for a stop.

Stayed in the hotel while being on a winetrip with my uncle. Rooms are allright. Got two doublerooms while paying for two singles, so that was nice. Dinner, however, was a deception. The salmon starter made me think of IKEA and the wine that we drank for €40 a bottle we found the next day for €7,10 at the other end of the village.. Biggest dissapointment was the staff who would litteraly sigh with every single question we had.. It feld like we should be happy to be able to eat there, not the other way around.. Luckely the city of Colmar is only 20 min. away.. We were able to enjoy a wonderfull dinner there, the next day, for way better money.. The biggest disillusion was the lady at breakfast.. When I thanked her and wished her 'a good day' she looked at me from top to bottem and rolled her eyes without saying anything.. She turned her head and walked away.. My standards might be high because I used to work in 5 star hotels and Michelin star restaurants for a very long time but: 'being friendly doesn't cost a thing'.. Room for improvement. Interior of the restaurant and surroundings are very nice. …

Friendly staff. Nice, lovely room. Although the restaurant is rather big, the environment is very quiet. Service is fluent. The food is marvelous. We ate too much ! We certainly will be back. We can recommend this hotel.

We booked this hotel for a three day stay as it seemed to be one of the best in the area, but it is really a restaurant with rooms. The rooms are good and well furnished, if a bit small for the price, and ours had a balcony - overlooking the road. It could be a bit noisy if you are not used to a bit of traffic. The first meal was excellent, the second left us with the impression that the meat was the previous day's leftovers warmed up. Breakfast was adequate, but not brilliant by German standards. Staff were very good, owners a bit distant, despite my speaking quite good German.

We have been to this hotel many times, long way from Norway. But we keep coming back ,first for the exellent food and local wines at the dinner table! Second for the stay in it selve, the service at the hotel is also exellent .The accomodation is comfortable and clean. We also attended the local winefestival at the winery down the road when we were in Achkarren The chef at Hotel Krone had put together a 5 course gourmet dinner with 10 different local wines. A match made in heaven! The hotel is a good starting point for visiting wine areas in Kaiserstuhl or Alsace.

I've been to the hotel restaurant two years in a row for a customer dinner that my company was hosting. The food is fabulous and the service is incredible. I especially recommend the dessert platter (or sampler), it is very delicious. The restaurant is rustic but also very charming and warm. When we visit, we also always stop at the historic wine museum for a tour and a sparking wine toast. Juergen is a perfect host and I want to thank him and his staff for the wonderful memories.

My wife and I have just returned from a week's stay in this charming hotel. All I can say is that it was excellent. We were very well looked after from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the staff were friendly and very attentive. Whilst this hotel is not ultra-modern, it's history only lends to its character and charm. The dining room is all original wood and creates a warm and familial ambiance. What stands out the most, however, is the food. The dining experience here is really world class and is of a Michelin Star standard. However, the atmosphere never feels stuffy and allows you to dine on first class food without the pretense of many of the higher class restaurants. Overall, we both had a fantastic holiday in Germany and our stay here was certainly a part of that.…

As part of a week long holiday through Southern Germany we decided to look to stay in the Kaiserstuhl wine region for two nights and came across Die Acherkarrer Krone. Our room, I would say was slightly dated / clash of colours but did had a newly renovated bathroom and balcony overlooking the back of the hotel. There seemed only to be ourselves and another couple staying in the hotel so our stay was quiet. The lady who greeted us when we arrived was very welcoming having limited english but along with our limited german we managed OK! We booked a table for dinner in the restaurant, which we were glad we did as it was full when we came down from our room. The menu was only in german but they kindly gave us a 'food dictionary' and again with their help & our limited german we enjoyed a fantastic meal complemented with local wines. Everything was cooked to order and excellent quality. Breakfast was adequate, a small selection of cereals, breads, some fantastic pastries, cheese & ham and a fruit salad as well as really good coffee. The surrounding area is beautiful, the wineries we visited people were more than helpful and very friendly taking time to let you taste and learn more about their wines. The village itself is only tiny so you do need a car to enjoy the area and give you other options for an evening meal as the hotel restaurant is on the pricier side - 9-18 euros for a starter, 22-28 euros for a main.…

We , 4 pax. , stayed 5 nights in this Hotel in Achkarren , near Vogtsburg , but unfortunately after 2 nights in the clean and nice new rooms , we only could extend our stay , moving into the old part . In high season the room rates of both categories are well overprized , but even for this time of the year we could have done a better deal in other German wine-regions . The rooms were in the 2nd floor , no elevator . and they were small , some of the beds were old , our clothes had to be hung up behind an simple curtain . Small bathrooms with shower , no shampoo , just soap . About the cosy Restaurant only positive commends ..... great service by hard-working friendly girls Do try the snails and the steaks . Fish preparations with sauce do lack of taste . Also a good selection of items for breakfast . Outside seating possible during spring and summer . Parking across the street .…
