We visited at the end of August as a family of 4 with 2 girls aged 10 and 7 from the UK. The good: - the swimming pools are great, slides occupied us all for hours. Indoor pool good for if its colder. - shop well stocked and reasonable priced. Great croissants. Super U 5 mins away. - Guided walks with David excellent. Managed to keep my daughters walking without moaning for over 2 hours on 2 separate occasions. - Facilities great, pump track, park, football/basketball courts. - stunning location The not so good: - we stayed in a premium cottage. You get sheets but have to make beds on arrival. No real issue but if paying premium would be nice to be made on arrival. Pillows terrible, glad we brought our own. - in cottage both bedrooms have doors outside that open from inside so can't be locked to prevent children opening. With young children would a safety issue. My daughter sleep walks found her with the door open ready to go outside one night. - tv no English channels or smart TV. We had some bad weather so would be good to entertain kids but obviously not essential. - bar and creperie that serves ice cream shuts between 2 and 5. So can't get any drinks or ice cream by pool. Can go to shop but seems missed opportunity. - Childrens clubs look great but unsurprisingly very french. As a result we didn't see any brits in the Childrens clubs. Not an issue for us but if important for you worth bearing in mind.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our time at this campsite. We feel the campsite is overrated and had its best time and is in need of renovation. The restaurant is far too small and looking out onto an old concrete playground with a Limited menu. The take away serves pizza, fries, burgers. Other options are limited and look unappealing. The restaurant & bar are all in 1 unappealing area combined with a play area which makes it feel like a ‘holiday factory’, entirely aimed at children. The swimming pool feels dated, inside is way too crowded, outside area no real Swimming pool other than small pools for the slides. In the first few minutes we were very rudely sent away because my husband did nog wear the right swim shorts. The surroundings and the walking path along the cliff are stunning. The old french buildings and trees on the sire are very pretty. Unfortunately our cabin was very disappointing- dated, poorly kept, musty smell, ripped sofa, the terrace was in need replacement, unsafe for Our toddler, uncomfortable bed with rubber sheets. The shower kept going from warm to Cold constantly. When we tried to change cabins there was unfortunately no other availability and in relation to that staff were also not friendly or helpful. Also doing laundry took too much time as we had drive to the atm to get money and then change it to the required coins as there are no options to pay in other ways and the campsite receptionist would not give us change. When we tried to get coins from a machine that says ‘ cash’ on it, in the games room, we just got game coins. When i explained at reception we made a mistake and i wanted the cash back, she said she couldn’t do that, which seemed odd to us and annoying as we’d already spent so much time trying to Figure out how it worked and driving to get money from the cash machine. She said she ‘couldn’t’ but it seemed like a ‘wouldn’t’ to us. Especially in bad weather, the cons weighed heavily and therefore we left much earlier than planned.

Hello Aafke, We are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay. Our campsite is constantly being renovated to improve the comfort of our guests and we have taken note of your comments regarding your accommodation. Concerning the restaurant, we try to offer a menu that appeals to as many people as possible, but your opinion is useful in planning improvements. With regard to the pool area, it is true that we require our guests to respect the rules in terms of swimming attire for reasons of hygiene. We regret that this may have upset you. The location of our campsite is one of our greatest prides. We are delighted that you enjoyed the customs path and the beauty of the Pink Granite Coast. However, we are aware that the landscapes are best appreciated in the sunshine. We're sorry about the misunderstanding with the cash withdrawal machines. We'll be checking with the team about this. We hope you still leave with fond memories of your holiday. The Sandaya Team Campsite Le Ranolien 5*

At first we were unsure if this really was a 5* campsite. We are a family of four, two young daughters. I have to say, when the sun is out this place is brilliant. The pools are great, the slides particularly are great fun. And if the sun doesn’t shine quite so much, the indoor pool is ideal. I think they could have a better stock of accommodation, they do feel a little cramped. But the overall site and facilities are what gives this place its 5* rating. Our girls made loads of friends in the evenings around the open air play area. It was safe to let them run and play, and we were able to watch from the terrace with a beer. There is a lot of chat about swimwear for men…. Look, the rules are rules. Tight fitting trunks only. Embrace it, and get on with it. Everyone else is cool about it so no need to worry. It’s really not that bad!! Nearby there are amazing beaches, beautiful towns and brilliant shopping. For kids, adults, and dogs (if you have one) , this is a great site. This part of France really is great for the whole family. And the food is simply amazing.

What a great place to stay! So close to amazing walks along the granite rose coast. The facilities on site are the best I’ve seen. The on site restaurants are excellent value and great menus. Indeed, I ate the best galettes I’ve ever eaten in the on site creperie. Lovely clean chalets and well appointed with decent kitchen facilities and a well stocked shop on site. There’s also a large Super U supermarket 5 minutes drive away. Definitely highly recommend and will be returning myself. Fantastic facilities for families with young children and excellent for anyone who enjoys walking. Even a free sculpture park 10 minutes walk away!

This is a review of Camping Ranolien by Sandaya The good points: - staff friendly and helpful - pool area is great fun - children’s play park and bouncy castle are good - takeaway pizza and poulet rotis are very nice - the on-site supermarket is well stocked - grounds are nice - washing machines are good and clean The not so good points: - we booked premium accommodation and it did not meet our expectations. The accommodation was quite dirty, the fixtures and fittings were thick with dust, cobwebs with dead insects in in the windows by the beds, between the sofa cushions was really awful with lots of food and dust bits down there so that wasn’t very nice for us. Also, we had an awful smell coming from the shower drain which was joined to two bedrooms so also not very nice. - the premium areas is very close to the supermarket which is great until the delivery lorry comes at 6am every morning and spends a good 30 minutes noisily unloading with its engine running so we were all awake at 6am every day. - it was unseasonably cold when we stayed so that meant everyone flocked to the indoor pool which is great but there was so many people in there it was dangerous. We all got kicked and jumped on, while it was lifeguarded there didn’t seem to be any rules. At one point we counted 70 people in there at one time. - the scooter track needs looking at. My kids were so excited for this but the standard micro scooter doesn’t have enough ground clearance to go over the peak of the bumps and my daughter had a nasty accident when her scooter grounded out. - the creperie rarely seemed to be open even though the sign on the door said it should be open. It was ok but unfortunately we wouldn’t go back as we have been to much better sites.

Hello Jenna, Thank you for taking the time to let us know what you thought of your stay at Sandaya Le Ranolien. We're really pleased that you enjoyed the many advantages of our establishment, the quality of our services and the friendliness of our team. With its personalized welcome and meticulous service, Sandaya guarantees you a peaceful and comfortable stay in exceptional places. Thank you for mentioning all these positive points, which demonstrate our commitment to offering our guests a quality experience. We regret that the cleanliness of your cottage didn't live up to your expectations. If you feel that the accommodation is not up to standard, it is imperative that you have it checked by the campsite reception before taking possession. It's our staff's job to clean up or repair your accommodation as necessary. We're very sorry if you've been inconvenienced by the early-morning passage of the delivery truck, which enables our guests to find the mini-market well-stocked with fresh produce as soon as they wake up. Please be sure that we always strive to maintain a balance between fun and safety in our aquatic areas. More gloomy days are also an opportunity to enjoy beautiful walks in the fresh air: as you follow the coast along the "sentier des douaniers", you can admire the amazing scenery and breathtaking panoramas offered by nature, here like nowhere else. Please be certain that all your comments will be forwarded to the teams on site, and that we will continue to work on a daily basis to improve our service and ensure your complete satisfaction during your next stay. In any case, we hope that this perfectible experience will not undermine your confidence in our services, and that we will have the pleasure of seeing you again soon in one of our Sandaya establishments, to leave you with even better memories. Brilliant place for a family holiday. The site is spotless, well maintained and the facilities are great. We found the staff really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. They tolerated my terrible French without making me feel like I was back at school! The pool is great - indoor and out. The shop has lovely morning bread and pastries and has good opening hours. The coast is beautiful and easy to access. Really easy place to have a holiday.

I have visited this site since I was a child, and now countless times with my own family. The site has changed hands several times, but the current owners (Sandaya) have maintained the soul of the campsite. Perfectly located between Perros Guirec (a perfect small seaside town with wonderful beaches) and Ploumanach (a pretty small village with beach and port), the site has so much to offer. Facilities are plentiful- small supermarket, creperie, restaurant, takeaway, large bar, lovely pool area, spa arcade, cinema and great parks and outdoor spaces for older kids. The site is littered with the beautiful pink granite boulders that shape the dramatic coastline. The site incorporates them into the landscaping well. Coastal path immediately outside site. Turn left to Ploumanach and right to Perros. Both have ports, beaches, lovely shops and restaurants. Both roughly 30 mins walk from site. Both approx 10 mins by car. Must visit places within 20mi -45 mins by car include Treguier, Lannion and Paimpol. All have large markets on market day, beautiful old buildings from 15/16 century. We have never been disappointed by this site and will return.
