The staff were welcoming but there were in truth a number of shortcomings including scruffy external grounds with litter, a window with a large crack in our bedroom,a TV which did not work for one of the two nights etc. The conclusion I made was that this hotel needs a serious injection of capital to bring it up to modern...

We had a 2 course lunch. The starters were nice & beautifully presented. I couldn't taste the horseradish in my compote but was given a little dish on the side to compensate. We ordered one lamb & one beef. The meat was good with lots of rather glutinous gravy & excellent roasties & yorkshires. Unfortunately the rest of the veg...

Coming down from SW London I stayed here as my usual was busy. What a great experience - the room was highly appointed, comfortable and warm (this being the first icy night of the year), the staff were too, they couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. The REAL icing on the cake was the food. It was fantastic… such...

We stayed here for a night and were pleasantly surprised. The website doesn't do it justice. The manager was really helpful with my requests (i was in wales for an ultra marathon), the night porter arranged an early breakfast for me and Lloyd provided great service when we had our really tasty dinner. Thanks guys. Loved it. Room was clean,...

I couldn't fault this place, it was superb in every way. The location fantastic, the room was exquisite and even got a lift to the station from the hotel staff, was treated like a queen, thankyou so much, will definitely be back.

We were looking for just a room before some time hiking in the Brecon Beacons, and what a delight we found. Instead of just a place to sleep we found a wonderful anchor in the delightful village of Crickhowell. We enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar, had great food and the very charming and rugby loving chef served an incredible...

This is a lovely spot to stay in Powys. A great location and the staff are more than attentive. The hotel has a friendly, relaxed feel and the setting is outstanding. We weren't totally happy with our room and the staff couldn't do enough to oblige. This is our first experience of a doggy hotel and we would thoroughly recommend...

I visited for afternoon tea. Food was plentiful but lacked the finesse often associated with an event that is viewed by most as a treat. You had to make your own tea and milk jugs were huge. Choice of rolls was unusual - chicken with paprika and beef and beetroot remoulade. Lemon cake delicious. Staff were very welcoming and Cameron,...

This is a difficult review to write. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and the staff are exceptionally good - genuinely welcoming and attentive. The problem lies in the fabric of the hotel. It needs a huge investment. It has been updated and had bits tacked on a various stages of its recent history, not always brilliantly done. The...
